      You should do countries with similar name:
      Guinea and Papua New Guinea
      Great Britain and Brittany
      Switzerland and Sweden
      Wales and Gaul/Gallia (in Romanian we call Wales "Țara galilor" (Land of the Gals) and Gaul "Galia" (which people we also call Gals), is there a connection?
      Wales and Wallachia (also is there proof that Wallachians didn't call themselves Romanians?)
      Also in Romanian we call Latvia "Letonia" so it could be interseting to see a video on it with either Lithuania or Estonia or all three of them
      Turkey and Turkmenistan
      Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakstan, ...
      Georgia the US State and Georgia the Country
      Indians (India) and Native Americans

      Charles Rushmore didn't discover the mountain. The mountain was called the Six Grandfathers. It was a holy place that was stolen after being promised to the Lakota and then defaced.

    Great video as always!
    Just a small correction from a geologist: the shape of the rock formation has nothing to do as to its being called a batholith. Batholiths are characterized by a single unit of subterranean slow cooled, coarse grained igneous rock which has been later exposed.

    Since you mention the Louvre Pyramid, I'd like to take the time to point out a similarly recently constructed pyramid in the US, the Memphis Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee. The US city by the Mississippi River was named after the Egyptian city by the Nile known for its pyramids, so decided to build a modern one there. As a small sports stadium. When I was living there it was most known for Arena Football, some kind of compressed version of the US hand-egg sport. According to Wikipedia the Memphis Pyramid is 98 meters tall, over four times that of the Louvre Pyramid, which made me think it might be worth mentioning.

    The next monuments we build will be covered in logos once the corporations take over.

    • @sirBrouwer
      @sirBrouwer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      aren't all build monuments not already covered with logo's? As long as people have build major objects it was always for someone who wanted to have his or her logo (seal/coat of arms) be featured on it. especially king really wanted to have there coat of arms plastered all over there monuments for the pure reason so they could boast about it. and in most cases the main build master will have his name placed on a few key stones as well.

    7:05 There is also a similar story about the Strasbourg Cathedral, or more specifically, the famous clock housed within it. I believe that the story is that the clockmakers were blinded after construction so that they could never build another clock to rival the one in the cathedral. That clock served as the inspiration for the "It's a Small World" attraction at Disney Parks.

    2:51 The non-carved part of Mt. Rushmore looks like Magic Mountain, a now-demolished indoor theme park that used to stand in the seaside town of Glenelg, South Australia (now replaced by a more modern entertainment complex, the Beach House).
    3:30 Funny how he kind of looks like Theodore Roosevelt, one of the Presidents who would be carved into the -mountain- batholith.

    9:17 "The name of the city comes from Arabic ER-GES-HER".
    Heck no. I don't know if the mistake was in the word itself or the pronunciation, but that sounds like nothing in Arabic, certainly not anything close to "Near the high".
    And for the record, while the city's name is pronounced the way you do in some dialects (including Egyptian), but it's "Jiiza" in "Fus-ha". One possible meaning I got from an Arabic dictionary is "side of the valley". I'm not familiar with the geography, though.

    Uh Mount Rushmore is built on the sacred mountain “the six grandfathers” of the Lakota people. It was built specifically to try to force native people away from their land. The “dispute over tin mines” was the Americans trying to build and mine on land the government had guaranteed the natives.

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      no it isn't. It is a border marker between Pakistan proper and China proper. Baltistan is not claimed by India as it is not part of Kashmir and the peak is actually close to an undisputed border, namely with the Indian state of Ladakh.
      K2 straddles Pakistan and China's Xinjiang region, India has no claim to this border.

    • @Think_Inc
      @Think_Inc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SantomPh That’s the exact opposite of the truth. Baltistan’s actual name is Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan has been illegally occupying it for a while. It is claimed by India. India is the rightful owner of the land. The LoC isn’t the actual border recognized by India. It’s just the end of Indian control.
