    This review made me buy an SB165. It just arrived today. Yeti owes you guys a few beers.

    I've got an SB5 Lunch Ride, and I picked up an SB165 back in September. Due to weather and work, I haven't spent near as much time as I would like to have spent on the SB165, but I love it so far. I won't lie....I am a new rider who's pushing 50, and am nowhere near capable enough of a rider to do this bike justice. But, I absolutely feel like it doesn't punish me for not being a top rider. I've taken it to the bike park, as well as my local trails, which this bike is way overkill for. I am less tired on the descents, I can do more runs at the park, and my first run down my favorite local track, I was faster. The chunky section was easier, and the bike was more confidence inspiring, I found myself wanting to go faster, on a bike that's easier to go faster on. It may sound weird, but it's almost as though the bike simply found the line, or maybe it didn't care what line it was on. It's great at making up for mistakes on my part, which I make a lot of, and when I'm pedaling to my local trail, I'm no more wiped out than I am on my SB5.....bonus fact, my SB5 has 175mm cranks, while my SB165 has 170mm cranks, so I have actually cleaned technical climbs on the SB165 that I struggled with on the SB5 due to pedal strikes. Now, I know the shorter cranks make it easier to manage pedal strikes, but I still find it climbs very well period, not just "climbs well for what it is." Oh, and also.....it's just sexy as hell!

      I experienced a similar effect going from a 120mm hardtail (my local trails are really mellow) to a 160mm Enduro bike (wanted something to travel with and not be undergunned). I was worried the big bike would be too much for my local spot but instead it just allows me to ride way harder without worrying about getting in over my head. Now I can just go as fast as I want and the bike will take care of me. It's a wonderful feeling

      Nice post! BTW, 170s offer *less* leverage than 175s so *harder* not easier.

    • @agar4278
      @agar4278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaceizzonn877 Agreed! When I said "easier," I meant from a clearance standpoint. My apologies, I should have clarified that I struggled more with pedal strikes with the 175s. I updated the original post, thank you!

    I demod the SB165 recently and felt pretty much the same way y'all did. Fast, fun and freaking amazing at climbing. I PR'd two trails on my first ride. And that was riding at a "conservative pace" Or maybe It's just how the bike made me feel. Anyway, love this bike!

    I have just seen this review after having already made the decision to order one last week (17th June 2021) and I am now well happy and can't wait for it to come. I shall be 68 years old in December, and so I sympathise with you Agar427 on just how much of the bikes capabilities I shall fully enjoy, I have ordered a 2021 SB165 T2 in green. I sold my last MTB almost 12 years ago and so haven't ridden in a long while, too long, but I have been living and working abroad in the Middle East and so had not the time. I retired in 2019 so this is just what I need. What you say about the Yeti's performance Agar427, reminds me of my motocross career in the 1970's, when I moved from riding Bultaco to Maico, my first being a brand new 1978 440. What a beautiful bike, it just wanted to go faster and faster, and always found the right line, I had my best rides on Maico's, and it sound like my new SB165 will be the same. By the way great comments all you like minded guys, keep enjoying life, you will never be to old to ride. Geoff. Somerset, England.

    I love Yeti's and I would've loved to have this bike at 25 instead of at 34. Problem is at 25 I couldn't afford a SB 165 and most 25 year olds won't be able to either. Pro and Cons of moving forward in your career but watching the years add up.

    I really wanted this bike but decided not to get it and instead, I got me a Guerrilla Gravity Shred Dogg that I will be building into a Megatrail 165/170mm with a push coil. Geo numbers seems close enough to provide similar feel.

    Having an SB130 and a SB165 for myself at home is just awesome. That sb130 is a long distance machine with lots of XC climbing feeling and descending is crazy quick. And then I hop on the big boy and your local trail becomes an even more big playground with the capability to climb everything. Well done Yeti😍

    Great bike , rides smooth th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .

      Price in many cases is less than ; Santa Cruz,spezialised, pivot,Revel bikes, yes yeti isn't cheap but they are made out to be the big bad wolf all the time ! When the above mentioned are in many build options are more expensive !!!! But hardly ever mentioned, & yeti make better pedallling bikes than most !!!!! So stop calling them the 'Dentist bike, etc. They just make gtreat bikes. You can buy there bikes from £5,400 the above are more expensive than that in carbon full stop !!!! Happy riding what ever you ride go & have fun that's the reason we all do what we do " Have fun not bitching 👍🏼👌🏻🚵😎⛰
