Note, this was 2 years ago. Despite the fact, this is a more subtitle version with lower tone and more intimate expression. I love this version. However, Angelina has moved further since then.
Angelina really packs the emotion into these songs like no one else. There is a "brightness" (as several vocal coaches have described it) in the way that Adele sings this song and the notes played on the piano. That brightness I would describe as a bit of harshness in Adele's version that I don't think matches the lyrics of the song as well as Angelina's version. And the piano, IMO, sounds much better in Angelina's versions. It is softer and smoother to match Angelina's voice.
The difference between the two comes down to a fact that Adele performs it in her usual 'Pop' style, whereas Angelina applies her true 'Jazz' ability when singing heartfelt ballads and there is no way a non-jazz singer, even one as great as Adele, can match the emotion laden penetration of Angelina who is a product of Billie Holiday's unique, improvisational phrasing, nuance, breath, and a host of other areas of musicality. Then she adds in the 'slurring' of line ending words that another, most unique jazz singer was famous for, that being Amy Winehouse. With Angelina's 'vocal chameleon' ability sprinkled in, the listener gets the effect of 4 superstar singers in one song. There has never been anyone who can match this intricate, complex form of singing. Andreas Grussl is an expert vocal analyzer and breaks down this song by both Adele & AJ. The video is titled ' Is This Better Than Adele'. In his examination of both singers doing the song 'section by section', not only does he show how much warmer AJ's rendition is and what really surprised me is that he shows how Angelina actually 'out belts' Adele in the power section of the song. This is insane when you realize that experts state that her lungs won't be fully developed until she reaches her mid 20's. There is nothing now, nor has there ever been a singer with the internal arsenal of this girl who gives 'only' Billie Holiday the title of being her musical mentor in making her the singer she has become. Without Billie, according to Angelina, there would not be Angelina Jordan as we know her. She has heard all the great singers but places Billie 'alone' at the top of the musical pedestal. Billie's next birthday will be April 7th, 2024 and I've written to Angelina at Republic Records and recommended they bring Angelina into a jazz club similar to those that Billie made her mark in when she sang in Harlem. Then, by playing video/audios of Billie singing specific songs, having Angelina then sing them 'live'. The event could be called 'A Night With Billie And Angelina' and I believe it would be a gigantic success when released throughout the world.

There aren't many who can beat Adele when it comes to writing , but........Angelina is a much better singer. Every cover she has done with an Adele song hss been superior to Adele's. She does not hurry through each word and she imparts much more passion to the words. Which is odd, since she wasn't the writer of it. Yet she puts so much more feeling into it, as if they were her words .
Have you heard her version of “Stay”? Also “ I’d Rather Go Blind”? I prefer her version of every song she covers to the original. “ Nothing Breaks Like a Heart”?

If you haven't seen her cover "I have nothing" from Whitney. There are several performances but I prefer the black and white one in the chandelier laden antique shop with a ball gown on, shot in black and white. I know it is blasphemy, but Angelina sings it better.
