Of all the basses that I've ever played or owned, in my very humble opinion, nothing on earth can touch a Ken Smith!

Years ago, during my jazz fusion days, I went balls out, and had a Ken Smith Melvin Davis Signature 7-string built for me. Plugged in live, that thing was like holding thunder in your hands.

I took delivery of my first Ken Smith today, a BSR 5 string with bubinga top. All I can say is....I wish I would have bought a KS bass sooner! Believe the hype....

Incredible Bass! My Smith 5 has been my 1st team Ax since 1998. Ken has always been accessible and reliable. He did an overhaul on it in 2012(fret job, preamp etc.) in a timely manner and it's still "brand new."

My Black Tiger is a thing of beauty. I wish I made more time to play it, but everytime I do, OH MY GOD!

Never owned one, but your basses are the best, period. I met Anthony and held the Thompson bass, tuned to A, in a dark nightclub. ALL your basses have that Smith Sound. I was with Elgin when he bought his 6. God bless you for what you do.

I want and need a 4-string Ken Smith. I played a couple and was, totally, blown away. Nothing compares!! One day and soon!
    Salute Ken!

Years ago (2003-ish) I was in Avenue Guitars in Edmonton. They had a Ken Smith 6 string there, so I picked it up and started playing it. What seemed like a mere 10 minutes was apparently a half hour, and the tone of the instrument had garnered me a sizeable audience in the store. I didn’t have the 6k at the time to shell out for it, but I got the model number in case I did one day. I eventually lost the info, unfortunately. Regardless, that was the finest instrument I’ve ever played. It sounded like a fine classical guitar down an octave. Absolutely unbelievable. One day.

Got a 6 string a few months ago. Clearly an investment. Love the feel and playability. Had to work up to the desired string height, but now its...can you say...Money???

    I love bass luthier’s man.
It’s all about how they make their basses. There’s so many great luthiers out there too.
I play guitar as well, but guitarists, they don’t really explore to find good guitar makers. They pretty much all stick to Fender, Gibson, PRS, etc. basically guitars made in factories on a line. But bass players, we love those smaller shops with a handful of peoples that make superior quality instruments by hand.

Of all of the videos out there of people playing Ken Smith basses, I have yet to find a video of Ken Smith himself playing one of his own basses. Anyone here seen such a video??

The Salazar Law Firm Atlanta If you have Instagram or Facebook he posts new bases, he does play them for a bit to show the sound.

I remember the 1st 6 string bass that I ever picked up and it was a Ken Smith Bass. That bass was the only 6 string bass that I liked and I absolutely hate 6 string basses.

If it weren't for Carl Thompson & Stuart Spector, Ken Smith basses wouldn't exist.. Vinny Fodera was also a key part of the recipe as he was sculpting Ken's basses back in the early days.. The best basses in the world are made by Smith, Fodera, Spector, & Warwick.. That being said I play an Ibanez bass..

Headknocker I’ve played Smith and alembic and in my more mature years I’m basically settled on a Yamaha 6 and a good ol p bass.

Today it sadly seems every producer is asking for a dull Pbass sound instead of any sophisticated active instrument.

Fodera simply copy Ken Smith creation. I had a Fodera bass for 11 years, so I KNOW what I talk about. Let me see.... Ebony Finger board and radius, neck-thru system, tone block, bridge, laminated neck with 3 or 5 pieces, and much more. Who created all listed here is Ken Smith....
