    Thanks for this! I'd been trying to find "different styles" for a while, without much success - until now

    This video rocks 🤣 but genuinely the best I've seen for technical quite. Although I've since seen an old slinger throw a back-hand over-hand across the body (a simple swing forward to begin the momentum then releasing half way through camanche/apache swing)

    There is a much more effective method of using a sling that I learned almost 50 years ago. The swing is somewhat like a figure eight and I'm pretty sure it is much more powerful than what you can create by just swinging it in a circle. As an example, I have been able to throw a baseball through the chain-link fence at a baseball diamond from the picture's mound. In some cases, it only dented the wire but I was able to completely break through the chain link in some cases. Obviously, I only did this a few times because it damaged the fence. I was also able to throw a rock through one side of a standard concrete brick wall. I haven't used the sling in many years, but I'm pretty sure I could still do it. I was also very accurate with the sling.

      Hey Dan, what you’re referring to is the ‘Comanche’ or ‘figure-8’ style demonstrated later in the video. I haven’t heard many people refer to it as a powerful method, but each tend to have their own personal favorites.
      See the replies below, I was very wrong about the style Dan was describing!

      @@tylerdanger1484 I think op is reffering to this style: th-cam.com/video/sIEm8WjXvI0/w-d-xo.html
      People on slinging.org call it the right figure eight, what you demonstrated in your vid is commonly reffered to as the wrong figure eight

      @@lukylunacek7444 Ah, I see what you’re talking about. I would have called that a variant of Greek-overhand, good to know where terms differ between groups. That’s definitely a solid style for power and accuracy, and one of my standbys.

    • @lukylunacek7444
      @lukylunacek7444 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tylerdanger1484 I personally find more accurate name for it to be figure g, since the path of the pouch looks more like letter g, also to differenciate from this figure eight, people then tend to confuse them.
      It is interesting how different people call slinging styles different indeed. some people call helicopter the balearic style, some call greek styles two handed techniques, some call balearic just sidearm,.. it really is mess and it is hard to find correct terminology, so for my personal use I use my own and for debates I use terminology from slinging,org.
      Yep that style is very powerful, when it comes to power I would rank it next to the balearic style while being more easily accurate(with consistant ammo) though I still prefer my version of baleric style that involves putting my whole body into the throw giving it extra bit of power and, if done right, accuracy for me, since I can use my whole body for aiming and it also allows me to use shorter slings as well as longer slings, long slings are harder to use with figure g/eight.

    I found a way that’s super natural to me overhand figure 8 then on the left side (if right handed)pull release behind head as if swing dancing. The stone should be spinning behind your body whilst facing the target sideways if you’re doing it right the stone will release above not in front

    Rule #1; If you can't do it slow! You can't do it fast! Slow is steady and steady is fast!
    Rule #2; A rock the size of your fist will hurt you but a rock the size of a silver dollar will kill you!
    Rule #3; Any style will work as long as you practice it enough! (Same thing applies to martial arts, shooting, sex....etc.)
    Rule #4; If you practice without a backstop...you spend more time hunting rocks than practicing!

      As a baseball mom of a pitcher/catcher, I can identify with early release and follow-thru. Left handed pitchers and left handed batters are always a game changer. My pastor went to Israel and followed David's foot steps. He tried to do the sling shot for the first time and the rock hit him in the forehead. Suicide by Sling Shot! (Just kidding), he's still alive). We just kicked off the "Chasing David" series. He wrote a book and has videos of his trip. Many churches are joining in, live. This week, is on David & Goliath. Wow! A sling shot compared to a .44 magnum. Goliath was bringing a sword to a gunfight, essentially! I sent this great video to my Pastor. Check out: tlc.org OR go to Facebook Live at 6pm tonight, or Sunday at 9am or 11am (PST). Thanks for your scripture in Judges 20:16---I was not aware! Excellent! God is good!

    @Tyler Danger I see that there are a lot of different slings out there. What would you recommend for a beginner? Thanks for sharing.

    • @tylerdanger1484
      @tylerdanger1484  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tim Favreau , I always recommend a ‘thong’ style sling as opposed to a ‘pocket’ or ‘cup’ style sling. Also, starting a little shorter will help you get accurate earlier on. The sling folded in half should go from your fingertips to your elbow for a starter sling. Good luck!

      I’m not sure we have much perspective on historical styles of the ancient near-east, but most of the videos I’ve seen modern slingers employ in that part of the world is a form of simple underhand. Probably a good fit as the underhand styles do pack the most punch.
