Heyyyy lovelies, welcome back to my channel and another home vlog. We have officially been here almost 5 weeks and I realised that whilst a lot needed doing immediately - I never really took a moment to sit and just be. I never took a couple of days to take it all in and appreciate my new home for what it was. In this video we have a lot going on - new radiators, new brick work new lots of things. I am done now though - I am taking it easy from now on.
If you are interested in checking out my art channel head on over to ‪@ClairesCraftyCorner‬
    Details of our move:
We sold our 3 bedroom terraced ( lots of houses stuck together in a row ) post-war concrete house in Essex for £370,000
We bought our 3 / 4 bedroom semi detached ( attached to only one house ) 1950's brick built house with converted loft, garage and huge garden in Northamptonshire for £290,000
it took 10 weeks - from accepting the offer on our home - to moving out.
10 weeks is FAST for England.

When we went from rental to ownership of a house, my wife got overwhelmed by the need to find a spot for everything… new blinds, painting etc.
I just looked at her and said we have 15 years to paint, move and rearrange, unbox etc. We have lived here for nine years and still have boxes in the basement that hold treasures from our pre-ownership. It’s very loving to open one from 9 years ago and reminisce of good times past 😊😊❤❤

Change is hard..at any age. Im nearly 66 and i have this thing about getting lost or not finding my car. Its like a panic attack. At local grocery store i park by the same letter in the parking lot or as close to same area each time i go. Breathe in and realize you are not alone. You ask for any help you need. Nothing wrong with help. Animals are gifts from God to make us relax and take our stress away. Ur the best Claire..so glad ur doing well and CCC back soon. ❤❤❤

Change can be very overwhelming, familiarity brings comfort...I rarely go past my letter box 🤣🤣...I LOVE rain..winter/Autumn are my fav seasons...so sad we are in spring and I really dislike our summers. I love seeing George enjoy the yard...the trees you have are beautiful...I love being around trees...you are amazing with all you are doing and thankyou for sharing some of your life.

It’s wonderful to see, how happy you are, Claire. I was pleased to hear, you talk about, no more phone calls, to get one thing or another done. You have plenty of time. You need to sit, relax and just absorb the beauty and energy of your new home. Instead of looking at all, that needs doing in your home. Focus on one room, once you have gathered your strength and re-energised yourself. Then do what you want to do, to that one room only. This way, you will complete that room, in no time at all. You can then relax and re-energise, while feeling good and having a feeling of accomplishment, before you tackle the next room. Much like you did, with CCC room. Just look at how amazing your craft room is looking, as your focus and energy, was sorting that particular area. Please take time for yourself, do things that make you laugh and fill you with peace and happiness. Otherwise, you will suffer burnout. Much love from Australia ♥️💥🙏💐💐

“Are they going to chase you home for a roll of turf?” LOL! Give yourself grace with getting used to a new place. Moving is high on the list of most stressful things. We once moved during children’s school year… I was mess for at least a month… couldn’t find pencils, no place for homework. This too shall pass.

Lovely vlog lady. Yes I totally get you, it takes a little while for it to feel like home and to get used to your new surroundings. Especially going from suburbia to rural/country is an evening bigger adjustment as stuff you took for granted being at your fingertips in suburbia is often a bit harder to engage or purchase in a smaller country town. But I wouldn’t trade those conveniences for the lovely rural surroundings. The slower and more relaxed lifestyle is priceless. You may not feel it yet as you are so busy settling in but you will get there. Love how the house it coming along. Lovely vlog!

So my guy really wants to move and the very idea is a struggle for me so I totally understand. Not just being comfortable with our current area but uprooting my craft room and the unknown of being down there etc... It's a huge adjustment and I'm trying to get myself ready.... maybe.

Aw Claire. ❤ Give yourself time. Everything is fresh. New experiences will become old hat and that old worn path you've been familiar with will indeed return. I'm so glad you had no major damage from the rainstorms. How cool that you have all sorts of birds to watch! Enjoy all the awesomeness 🐦😊👍❤️

I was at the Galleria last week making a pottery highland cow - it’s a fabulous place! Burton Latimer is a small town, there are lots of beautiful villages/towns in Northamptonshire. We have a lot of Red Kites in the county that look amazing when you see them.

So happy to see a bit more of your new neighborhood, Claire! You live in a beautiful area! I looked up Burton Latimer. Gorgeous village! It looks like a village, but town-sized, iykwim?
We, too, love our birds and see lots of different breeds in our back yard (garden): cardinals, bluejays, yellow finches, crows, starlings, orioles, Mississippi kites, redtail hawks, bald eagles, etc.... We have a ton of fox squirrels we feed in our backyard, ever since raising/rehabbing one as a hairless newborn. His name is Lless. He visits us most days, carrying off a horde of nuts and peanuts to his stash. Sometimes lets us pick him up and love on him. 💕😍😊
Girl, don't feel guilty about getting things done! You'd feel worse if you didn't, right? Now that the house is more liveable, you're doing what you need to do: relax and breathe. 😊 I love that you know *how* to stop and smell the roses, to enjoy the day.

I know exactly how you feel, I lived 49 years in Romford then we moved. It was literally 2 weeks before lockdown and I think that’s why I still don’t feel familiar with where we live as I got used to living in lockdown and then never got the chance to enjoy the thrill of settling in, if you get what I mean. There was also a jollies in Romford as well. I really really understand what you say about places being familiar and getting used to new places. Don’t EVER beat yourself up if you think you miss your old place sometimes. You sound so vulnerable at the moment, I totally get that too. Please take time for you.❤️xx

It's not just an age thing. I moved to a totally different area. Every time I set off to a shop, I know very well, I didn't even know where the shop was or how the parking was.
It just take a while to settle into a new house and area. You will be fine, just be kind to yourself and take it slowly. Good luck 👍 💓
PS. Just seen your book on birds. Downloaded the app which hears the bird song and it will tell you the exact bird that you have in your garden.

I can always relate to you…. The mere mention of moving, I get that pit in my stomach… We’ve lived in the same house for 43 years (yes I’m old…😂)… My kids keep talking about all of us moving out of Florida, I get stressed at the thought…. I also love the rainy cuddly days, but I’m over it…. My husband, son and son in law, just cleaned up after Helene, and Wednesday there’s another hurricane heading right for us… So, sitting in your lovely garden is anything but boring… Thanks for the stress break!!! Love to George 🥰🥰🥰 Btw, I will also have my grandkids for a couple of days, school is shut down for the hurricane…❤

I recall (correctly?) you had only 2 electrical sockets in your craft room…is that enough? I live in a town, and a housing development. A neighbor put up a suet block for the birds and it attracted a BEAR! Had to call the local Animal Control. Was scary - the local news even came out. I loved sitting with you in top your garden. So glad you shared it with us! Look forward to a new video….in your garden or craft room. 🤗💐 🦜

So when I see the birds like it or not, I also end up, feeding the wild turkeys, squirrel, chipmunks, deer, and the black bear makes things interesting 😂. I can’t put the duet out until end of November once the bears go into hibernation otherwise I could put out a suet block a day 😂😂😂

Squirrels and foxes nick all the food I put out for the stray cat that comes to my house every night . They literally pick up heavy glass bowls that I put out. Squirrels get into EVERYTHING. i have a squirrel here (i live in the country) we call Cyril the Skirrel and he sits on the path and shouts at my cats....😂😅😊. If you ever have questions on birds I have a good friend here in the states that is a bird watcher as well you can look into him if you'd like his name is Sheldon brisco from Shelrock art he could help you identify and feed the birds properly. Aww hun, massive credit to you for getting as sorted as you are. Yes, there's a way to go but look what you've achieved in a really short space of time! I remember when we moved up to Scotland and we didn't know anyone except family. We didn't have sat nav then, so quite often got lost trying to find a big Tesco 😂. I wouldn't change anything though, it was a good move for us all. It is unsettling when you aren't familiar with your surroundings, but it will all fall into place, and you have picked a stunning area to live! Happy bird watching 😊 x

@@athomewithclaire Yes, I'm finding that people are friendlier here too. Our new homes will feel better soon. I'm manifesting it for both of us. 😂 I'm still not completely unpacked and I have A LOT less things than you do, but I'm doing things as they are needed and one step at a time (I had a long talk with myself about trying to physically and financially do too much). Take time to enjoy Halloween and Christmas. Then after the new year, pick what you want to do first and take your time. We both need to learn that lesson. 😂

@@mornafriedberg5207 Oh yes Morna this makes absolute sense - I was literally just saying this to myself like - if I carry on the way I am going I will absolutely miss Halloween and Christmas and not be in the moment appreciating all of the things x

OMG Claire! About every 4-5 years Walmart will rearrange where all the groceries are over on that side of the store and for months you see folks walking around with perpetual confusion on their faces! I HATE IT! I think they do it so that means you stay in the store longer, thus buying more. LOL

The adventure of change is exciting to start, then training for the first few weeks to months is stressful. You want the comfort to settle in and get frustrated when you are ready and the comfort isn’t there yet. It will come in time and when you least expect it….

That heavy rain had us holding our breath in my home Town again - it went 5cm over the flood line so we were paddling but thankfully not swimming this time! 🌊🌧☔
