This song performed live is everything, especially when they combine it with "You´ll Never Walk Alone". The songs share a theme and work beautifully together.
U2 has switched places, back and forth, with the Beatles as my favorite band for a long time. But, this is my all time favorite song in all my 52 years.
This is one of my “escape songs”, that always help me to keep going when life throws rocks in my path. It sometimes makes me cry at first, but during the song it lifts me up and gives me strength to keep going. “Walk On”. Life is worth fighting for!
I've read/sung these lyrics many times. Spefic lines stand out that are great. But I did not notice this until now... On the whole, the WAY this is written, and the viewpoint it takes, seems to come down to one overarching theme (okay maybe not ONE, but one major one)... This is about creating/manifesting your own destiny and space - your heaven, your safe zone, your comfort or happy place. Lines like: "You're packing a suitcase for a place none of us has been A place that has to be believed to be seen" "Home, hard to know what it is if you've never had one Home, I can't say where it is but I know I'm going home"
Great review I think U2’s catalogue from 80-04 is up there with any other artists. They reinvented their sound album on album , they stayed relevant and moved with the times. They had eras that was defined by their sound then they ripped it up and started again. Boy/October War The Unforgettable Fire/Joshua Tree Rattle and Hum Achtung Baby/Zooropa Pop All that you can’t leave behind/Atomic Bomb They never did more then 2 albums with a specific sound They have still released some good tunes over the past 20 years but it’s all in the same lane.
Great song, and I agree with you, The Edge is very underrated. I actually focus on him a lot when I watch their videos. U2 have very seldom put a foot wrong, except for that free album we all got with the iPhones, yikes
@@hasinurrahman4952 hi there friends family colleagues and fans of U2 in my group all disliked it. To be fair I am willing to admit that people might tend to automatically undervalue something that is free. I’m happy that someone does like it 😘 take care

U2’s songs and lyrics come with so much soul. I just can’t understand how anyone can think that this song is boring. Have you paid close attention to the lyrics and the meaning?

You should listen to the remastered version that came out just several months ago. It blew me away
Simple and beautiful song, U2 rocks!
The live version of this song in their Chicago concert is reaction worthy as well.
