glad you were able to show that newer section of I-30 through Oak Cliff, which is actually very nice and modern. Really nice aesthetic. Don't know if you're aware, but that I-30 Bridge over the Trinity is soon o be replaced and was going to be an arching Calatrava Bridge. There was a congressional earmark for it, so now it will be a plain bridge. If wondering why cable stayed bridges over the Trinity, its because they wanted to span the to be built park. Now it is up to fundraising.
That was amazing. I've never seen an HOV lane transition up and over the freeway and rejoin traffic again but from the right side of the road. Also the barriers seperating the HOV from the general lanes goes quite a long way. If you don't get out early enough, you can miss a lot of exits!
@0marigolds Thank you! II had to cut the first minute of the song off to make that timing at 2:57 work. I figured if I'm going to call it a "remix" then the video out to be spruced up a bit :)
@Themadfarter1976 Part of the reason for the light traffic was that I shot this late morning on a Sunday. Dallas is the city most similar to Atlanta that I've seen, I think ATL may be a little nicer overall though due to the greenery and rolling hills in the area but I do like Dallas very much.
US 75 is way overdue to be upgraded as a northward extension of I-45 from it's current end in downtown all the way to at least I-44 in Tulsa (which 75 goes through, as well). Perhaps maybe further north to I-35 in Kansas.
Hey Freewayjim, 10251991JRH here. I got a special announcement to tell you. A few days ago I went over to the east side of Houston to pick up a passenger while I was riding Metro. I saw the finishing touches on the beltway 8 eastbound lanes after you pass by the US 59 (Eastex Freeway) interchange. But there is so far to go on the construction for the hi-five ramp to build. I haven't checked the Beltway 8-US 90 (Beaumont Hwy) interchange. Oh, and they will have toll booths with EZ-Tags, too.
Thomas, this video wasn't done during rush hour, I believe it was done either on Saturday or Sunday. The DFW metroplex has over 6 million, and will by 2020 have over 7.5 million. I believe that is larger than Atlanta, but I know Atlanta isn't far behind. Houston maybe a larger city than Dallas, but DFW's metro is larger than Houston;s metro. .
DFW area has a better freeway system with more freeways. But the older freeways could use a makeover like I-30 and SH 183. Which will be done within the next ten or so years. The new George Bush turnpike and the Sam Rayburn turnpike along with the extension of the North Dallas turnpike has improved the northern suburbs traffic gridlock considerably.
@Themadfarter1976 The roads are practically empty on a late Sunday morning because 95% of the people in the area are in church. No joke! This is a huge Southern Baptist area. Dallas is similar to Atlanta as far as the freeway infrastructure goes. Atlanta is bit nicer like FreewayJim said; because when in Dallas, Mother Nature suffers from bipolar disorder.
@wipandco You'd think the greedy SOB's would appreciate the exposure, it's not like that was a popular song, and heck they sampled another song to make it, oh the irony.
I have no idea, that whole electronic/dance music culture is a bit different, I just felt the music worked well for the ride, it could have been named "Toast and Butter" for all I care.
No, they were probably reminded of a bad memory of one (or more) times being in a small sedan/compact car, trapped behind some asshole doing 55-60 in the HOV lane featured with all of the lane barriers to the right, and not being able to escape by driving over them without potentially messing up said small car.
I remember I bought Summer Daze on iTunes after I watched this video. It is now in one of the 'on the road' playlists of my ipod...

Very nice video mate.. thank you for uploading it and sharing it with us!
Great job! Love to see these places I know. Good music for it, too.
This is going straight to the "favorites" section!

@FreewayTitan Thanks!
In Germany we drive this fast - without speeding up the video!

@ScrewdUPClickV2 Really? You can have time to upload the video on the information I just told to Freewayjim 2 hours ago.
Am from Houston TX matter 😢😅😅😂😂😂😂😢
That mall is gone
Wow, I don't believe I seen anyone pass you, or at least not for long.

Houston 45 south!
I feel like the name of the song "Cool Kids Of Death" is kind of inappropriate
It's just a title, it's the actual music that matters.
Freewayjim Why would they make a music title like that?
I have no idea, that whole electronic/dance music culture is a bit different, I just felt the music worked well for the ride, it could have been named "Toast and Butter" for all I care.
1 person hates freeways
U?
