I visited San Andres at about 7 or 8 yrs old for a swim and dancefest. Totally remarkable experience on this island that I never forget this trip. And Im 40 this yr. Loved my visit here, hope I can revisit again soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a marvelous vid!! Question...why is San Andres only shown on about 1/4th of all maps? I worked for American Airlines for 29 years and just recently discovered this place.....going there soon....
I wish we knew the answer to your question... I hope you have an amazing trip to San Andres! I bet you've got some great stories from working for American Airlines for 29 years. 😀✈
Great video! Really enjoyed it. I have been there many times. When we first went there, (twenty years ago) - there was very little information available on the island. it had not been developed much at that time. The last time we were there - (three years ago), it had changed considerably. Most of that is for the better for the local people for sure - but some things were lost with that too. There is great Scuba Diving there as well - the reefs are protected and are world recognized by Unesco. The local people are what makes it such a special place. Very friendly and helpful. It is my favorite little island for sure. Hope to get back there soon, when the world returns to some kind of normalcy. I hope covid didn't hit them hard and they were able to rebuild from the damage of the hurricanes last year. . . .take me back to my San Andres! . . .
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING EXPOSURE TO MY LOVELY ISLAND. I Would love to connect with you to do a Part 2 of your visit. there are a lot more to discover than what you covered in this video. Also, just a slight correction: (at the 8:46 mark) That is NOT Emmanuel Baptist Church. That church is The 1st Baptist Church (Primera Iglesia Bautista). Emmanuel Baptist Church is located in another area of the Island. apart from that, great video footage and documentary!
Can you share some more info please? I am starting to plan a trip... Bur instead of internet info, I'd rather hear from folks that have been... DM if you think bets.. Thank you
That's not the Emmanuel Baptist Church, but rather the 1st Baptist Church. It was founded in 1844. Construction was finished in 1847 with imported wood from Alabama.
I’m planning to visit this island with my friends around August, it looks amazing 😉 I wonder how the crocodiles got there 🤔 also are the scooters a lot cheaper than ATV
Crocodiles live in saltwater, and Central America is infamous for their crocodiles. Likely they were brought there via smuggling or a hurricane brought them over
There will be numerous taxi services that can get you to your Airbnb from the airport. If you need a specific recommendation, let me know. We have a friend there who has a taxi service. This was of course pre-pandemic. But I believe he still operates his taxi service. If you want you can direct message us.
Hello 👋 I'm traveling to San Andres in January 2021 the ATV your team rented for about $150 Us dollars how many days? Or was it just one day? I would appreciate the feed back. Also how long does it take togo around the island? Thanks
I plan on going in july of 2021..Will be my 1st time in Colombia and plan on spending 1 month total...probably 1 week in San Andres...I notice its actually quite expensive though
Isla San Andrés is hot, humid and small. In fact so small you can drive around the entire island in 1 hour! I got ALL the spots around the island listed in my own video here on TH-cam. Diving the crystal clear waters is a good idea.. Flights depart from Bogotá and Cartagena.
Whenever we have booked a trip to San Andres, they always issue you a tourist card on your last flight from wherever to San Andres. You fill it out on the plane so that it is ready when you arrive in San Andres. You can research it just to be on the safe side, but it’s always been this way for us whenever we have flown into the island.
Totally agree! I was planning to go to San Andres last year, and to our surprise, it was cheaper to go to Mexico. This year we tried again but then decided to go to Dominican Republic. San Andres is definetely a beautiful island with nice people, but for Colombian standards it isn't a cheap destination. Nevertheless, we are going next year, it is a must visit place.
@@monito19802000 always try to get the price down. Also, she kind of got ripped off on some places. One of those carts you can find them for about 40 usd a day she paid 150 that’s way too much. Also la regatta is one of the most expensive places in the Island, don’t go there. I haven’t been there in a while but I was born and raised there. Remember never pay the initial price they expect you to negotiate.
We have been there four times. Twice we flew into Panama City and from Panama City into San Andres. The other two times we have flown into Bogotá and from Bogotá into San Andres.
This is a shitty review, only highlighted the tourist traps, the history of the place is quite unique! No mention that some of the locals (Raizals) speak English, Spanish and an English creole, very unique
Yes, it was... we thought it was high too, but they sell out. It's worth getting for one day to explore the island, then you simply stay local for the remainder of your trip as you can walk everywhere if you stay in the area we did.
Lobster for a 33 USD very cheap hahahaha really in what planet is she living?? This may be reasonable priced for American Tourist or European tourist but certainly not for local people , it may be only for a wealthy Colombian people.
What? It’s fresh lobster y’all. Why is it that Colombians want to haggle for price and make it as cheap as possible. We need to stop that. Fresh lobster is expensive for a reason. I would pay to eat fresh lobster. Otherwise go fish it on your own.
Jose Gomez hello Jose, please read my response again ! I never mentioned, that Colombians lives in trees but you can’t pretend all Colombians can afford the same thinks ! I’ve much love for Colombia 🇨🇴 and its people ! So pls be real , and don’t take it personally because it is not personal!
I rented one a couple years back- I am from there, but live in the US - don't remember paying that kind of money to rent one. It was more like $40 for the day
Yes, they are not that expensive to rent. Especially the scooters. Scooters are very affordable to rent. We have a place down there. Whenever we go, we rent a scooter for the week. The island in general is very affordable.
love the place, it’s where my family lives, but it’s actually terrible. people treat it like the gum on the bottom of your shoe. trash everywhere. it’s genuinely a shame.
My wife and I have been there four times. I’ve never noticed it being treated like trash. I would say people generally respect the island and the people there. It’s actually quite a beautiful island in our opinion.
Why so much emphasis on putting down other Caribbean islands ? you are in the same region after all Caribbean is not just one island.! Lovely video nonetheless !
Los raizales (the people who are more ancestral to the island) are not particularly fond of the Colombians. Nonetheless, they seem to get along pretty well. We have friends who are Raizales and friends who are Colombian. We get along well with everyone there, and they seem to all get along well with each other.

Definitivamente un lugar precioso de visitar, no tiene nada que envidiarle a las islas lejanas y costosas del mundo
Great video and super informative! Thank you!

How long did it take to build Emmanuel Baptist Church>? Is 1844 when the building got started or the year when the building was completed?
