I was in the midst of assessing all the Catholic doctrines, feeling drawn to the Church, when i read your book Pope Peter. You pointing out the central question, is the church what it claims to be, and then supporting the answer in the affirmative as you did, is what got me over the hump and convinced me to become Catholic. Here i am, over a year later, and I am so happy I'm in the Church.

I feel like, if the Papacy is incorrect, there would have to have been some point when someone in the lineage of St. Peter suddenly said, "I am officially creating a position in the Church to be Vicar of Christ on Earth. I have the authority to do this because I'm suddenly interpreting the Bible to say that Peter was the first Vicar of Christ, and that anyone who is Bishop of Rome suddenly has special authority. You will now call me Pope and kiss my rings."
If there was never the concept of Pope before that (I'm not saying they used the title Pope from the beginning), then such a statement would be ludicrous and the guy would have been hanged for blasphemy. While we have evidence of people challenging the Pope on different subjects over the years, we don't have anyone challenging the existence of the office of the Pope for a long time in Church history.

"And behold Core the son of Isaar, the son of Caath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiron the sons of Eliab, and Hon the son of Pheleth of the children of Ruben,
Rose up against Moses, and with them two hundred and fifty others of the children of Israel, leading men of the synagogue, and who in the time of assembly were called by name.
And when they had stood up against Moses and Aaron, they said: Let it be enough for you, that all the multitude consisteth of holy ones, and the Lord is among them: Why lift you up yourselves above the people of the Lord?" (Num. 16:1-3)

The point you made about trusting the authority of the Church resonates with my experience. I had fallen away for a long time, and I had a lot of questions as I came back to the Church. As I researched all of my questions, I found that the Church had very good, strong answers that made sense. Sometimes I would go for days or weeks of struggling to find the answers but I kept going because I knew they were there and I needed to trust the process of finding them. The Catholic Church goes very deep when addressing ideas, social issues, scripture, history, and doctrine.

This was a great concept for a video. Creative. By way of suggestion, go the other way. Ask ChatGPT to make arguments for the conversion of a person to Catholicism. AI has known biases (reporting, selection, group attribution, and implicit) because it draws from certain sets of information to respond to questions. What conversion arguments would it draw from to convert, say a Muslim, Protestant, or Buddhist, to Catholicism?

Just a historical note, oral traditions played a significant role in ancient Israel around 30 A.D. functioning as a primary means of transmitting knowledge, cultural values, and religious teachings. Books were scarce and literacy was not as widespread. So it makes perfect sense when Paul states " hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us", since that is how teachings were commonly conveyed. Eventually, doctrine was codified. Codification of the Biblical canon was instrumental in preserving and formalizing teachings that had been transmitted orally. It also allowed for clearly establishing doctrine so that there is no wiggle room to alter foundational truths and introduce heresy.

Some have even convinced me of things I knew we had to believe, but I wasn’t too convinced with reasons given. Highlights being your one on how Christ’s death on the cross saves us (talking about Calvinism too). Also your one on Mary’s perpetual virginity. I was completely convinced by that, not only does the bible not contradict the perpetual virginity of Mary, but the most reasonable conclusion from the bible is that Mary WAS a perpetual virgin, by your arguments.

It’s not iron clad proof but concerning the greek word “petros” translated as small stone…. Earlier in Matthew during the temptation of christ, satan tells Jesus to transform stones into bread. The greek word used there is Lithoi or Lithos (plural) if Jesus wanted to call simon a small stone, why didn’t he call him Lithoi? Imagine how devastating that would be to the catholic position if the gospel author used Lithoi instead of Petros? The fact that he uses Petros in perspective of Petra, should increase and flip the weight of the argument towards the catholic position. Protestants cannot answer it except to fall back on semantic range and theological predetermination.

      1 Corinthians 1:28-30
And God chose the small things, things that people despise. Yes, he chose even the things which seem to be nothing. He did this to destroy the big things.

The Church came before the New Testament and codified the canon of Old Testament as we know it. The Church Fathers, specifically the Apostolic ones, continued their tradition. To look at them and the New and Old Testaments through Catholic eyes, it all makes logical congruent sense. Through protestant or even Orthodox lens, they seem schizophrenic.

Israel IS Jesus. Why turn off comments in Israel vs Palestine video? Im appalled how Christians like Joe Biden & Pope Francis (jesuits & democrats are liberals right?) don't fully support Israel's completely justified war.. Why? What do you think of this? Are they like Peter, JVP like Judas, Israel like Jesus & Hamas like Romans/some Jewish leaders?
Why are regions w/ more Jews better than countries w/ less? Eg Russia vs Ukraine. Eg Gaza vs West Bank. Eg Taiwan vs china. Eg Hong Kong vs Macau. Eg US UK Australia Japan vs Norway Iran Iraq North Korea.
Parallel : Jesus = Israel (magnanimous Jew)
      - Judas = Jewish anti-Zionists (big traitor)
      - Peter = democrats, liberals, Catholic church (little traitor)
      - (??) = republicans, conservatives
      - Romans & some Jewish leaders = Hamas (enemy of magnanimous Jew)
      - Humanity = Palestinians & free world (recipient of salvation of magnanimous Jew)
      - Grace = Leaflets, aid, corridors, field hospitals (the salvation offered by the Jew)
      - Matthew 5:11 = idk what's the analogue in the old testament / tanakh ?
Why do 20yo conscripted Jewish soldiers die while hundreds of thousands of Palestinians live from Israel's leaflets? Joe said it's coherent to say Israel is defending itself. So I suppose Jesus' crucifixion was defending Himself?
Zionists are fooled by Hamas propaganda! Quote 1- Gazan 🇵🇸 to IDF 🇮🇱: 'We must take down the heads of Hamas. Don't leave this place! People are stupid and do not understand anything. What are we to do with all of this? This is all because of Sinwar and Haniyeh. Haniyeh eats at restaurants in Turkey. And Sinwar eats hidden underground. They eat meat while we eat bullets.' - Source : kfsPPvA8nLE
Quote 2- "HAMAS is killing my people. (...) Most Gazans are against Hamas."-Jordanian -Palestinian Mudar Zahran. - Source : O7Go9af9koY
Why don't we just show this to every university? Gazans don't want ceasefire!
Israeli PR shot itself in the foot in my opinion by insisting 'most Palestinians support Hamas.'
Don't interrupt your opponent when they're making a mistake.
      - If the pro-Palestine/anti-Israel say most hate Hamas, then Israel won't murder civilians since the civilians are allies of Israel.

Here is the Historical truth. Not misleading use of the Bible
In 313 CE, the emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, which granted Christianity-as well as most other religions-legal status. While this was an important development in the history of Christianity, it was not a total replacement of traditional Roman beliefs with Christianity.
In 325, Constantine called the Council of Nicaea, which was a gathering of Christian leaders to determine the formal-or orthodox-beliefs of Christianity. The result of this council was the Nicene Creed, which laid out the agreed upon beliefs of the council.
In 380 CE, the emperor Theodosius issued the Edict of Thessalonica, which made Christianity, specifically Nicene Christianity, the official religion of the Roman Empire. Most other Christian sects were deemed heretical, lost their legal status, and had their properties confiscated by the Roman state.

    • @Questions-l8r
      @Questions-l8r 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Religious historians and scholars often define Nicene Christianity as being the first incarnation of the state church of the Roman Empire that was officially endorsed by the Roman Emperors from 381.
In the 900s and early 1000s, the choice was really that of the emperor: He chooses the pope and the clergy does the rubber stamping. The decision was made in 1059 to take the clergy of Rome out of the system and have the chief bishops of Italy do the choosing, primarily as a way of reducing the Holy Roman emperor's influence.

I think most understand his claims are contrary to nearly every sinlge patristic scholar but don't actively have the knowledge to rebut his arguments and he also willingly admits that he contradicts the scholars. I also haven't seen much efforts to interact with him which could contribute to more questions for people. With that said, I think it may be helpful to engage some of his claims. God can use this to prophetically portray future events even in the psalms. Christ himself quoted psalm 22 while crucified. Study types and make a list of their new testament / church equivalents.

That's because ChatGPT-4o does not realize that vessels the potter made for wrath cannot help but fulfill their destination just like Pharaoh when God hardened his heart also. Pharaoh was shameless also!!
Romans 9:17-23 KJV For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 19. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21. Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22. What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23. And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Hey Joe, I have a question based on the Church’s teach on marriage and the videos you did a couple weeks back. Would it be theologically sound to say that the Women in Revelation 12 has to be Mary because the queen mother came in the role as advocate for the people and Mary being one with the Holy Spirit fulfills the promise of an Advocate in the New Kingdom God? I thought the question would’ve been easier to word

Hello, I'm not Joe. I just want to point out, you did indeed lay out a very simple argument. However, I fear that you're referencing some Scripture verses and prophecies that are not well known outside some Catholic groups. Most Protestants won't know what you're talking about regarding a Queen Mother, being one with the Holy Spirit, or the Advocate to Christ.
As a rule of thumb, if you're ever discussing with a Protestant, and you feel a quote of the Old Testament may prove decisive, lay out the verses clearly and explain them. Most Protestants I've met (even the very well read ones) have never truly gone through the Old Testament except MAYBE the Psalms and a bit of Genesis. I've seen some of their pocket edition Bibles only include the New Testament, which is crazy, as Christendom has always held (since the Early Church Fathers) that any deeper view in the New requires an even deeper view in the Old.
For reference, see Joe's video on the Three Kings of Bethlehem, and how he had to spend a LOT of time laying out the OT (and the accompanying worldview). If you've never read the Old and all you have is the NT and a rough map of 1st century Middle East, you'll find that calling them Kings is baffling, obviously wrong, and unbiblical. But it isn't.
Applied to your comment, you'll find that your argument, applied to the average Christian, will necessitate much more elaboration.
God bless you and keep you.

Somewhat off-topic but I'll just give my experience. I was raised Catholic and then in my late teens, I converted to Christianity. I was baptized for the remission of my sins in a swimming pool at around 1:00 in the morning by a guy who knew the bible very well.
I lasted maybe 10--years then I backslid. I fell away for about 20-years then, after completely messing up my life, I came begging for my old job back (so to speak).
The first time I was saved, the only tools I had were the bible itself, some concordances, a bible dictionary, and some commentaries. I also had tools like a Greek/English interlinear, which is helpful. But that was it. When I got saved again, the internet was a thing. Now I had search engines and my bible proficiency shifted into high gear.
I can see A.I. causing another explosion in bible knowledge. Just like the search engine was more useful than all the concordances ever written, A.I. will probably make bad preachers good. I mean, I've heard some pretty lame sermons in my day but if these same guys had a tool like A.I., their sermons might be more consistent with the word of God.
A.I. is a tool. As long as it's used in pursuit of God, it will bear fruit but if all you're doing with it is to justify your own lame denomination then it will not serve you well. I mean, "Why should I be a Baptist?" is bad question. Ask a bad question and you'll get a bad answer.
But asking, "How does the blood of Jesus Christ cleanse me from my sins?" That might produce some good observations that you'd never considered before.

Catholics are Christians. You can’t “convert to Christianity” away from Catholicism. You can only leave the Church. I hate when prots try to make this false distinction. Also, if you were raised Catholic, you were already baptized and therefore committed a grave sin in getting rebaptized.

  • @GizmoFromPizmo
    @GizmoFromPizmo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

That's bogus, man. You can't say, "My denomination is right and if you think it's wrong (without regard to your reasons) then that just shows how wrong YOU are." That's at LEAST circular reasoning. It's very disingenuous.
Catholicism has SERIOUS doctrinal issues that aren't healed by the decree, "I'm right because I say so!" That doesn't make the problems go away except in the minds of the smoothest brained individual.
The bible commends folks who "search the scriptures daily" to check on the doctrine of even the apostles themselves (see Acts 17:11). The bible tells us repeatedly that it is the final authority on all matters of the faith. Inserting some other authority contradicts that final authority.
I mean, if the apostles and prophets were telling truth in the first century then what makes their doctrine false today?
