Love your name Episcopilled. I have definitely been Episcopilled and enjoying the deep dive into the rabbit hole of rich tradition, prayer, and liturgy...especially the BCP and the Daily Office. I was confirmed as an adult two years ago. Your channel is very informative with a light hearted bit of humor. I am enjoying your creations! Thank you!
Keep up the good work 🎉 Hopefully you can post videos more often cause there isn’t a lot of Episcopalian Content Creators to clear up the misconceptions about The Episcopal Church.
Collects is said that way because it's a noun rather than a verb, so it follows the noun-verb stress distinction you find elsewhere in English (ATtribute vs. atTRIBute, PERmit vs. perMIT, etc).
Thanks for making this video! It was simple to understand. This is kind of a niche topic but can you make a video about the Episcopalian monastic tradition?
I'd love to do something on Anglican monasticism in the future, although (as you note) it's a bit of a niche topic. I'll have to find somewhere to work it in :)
I've been really drawn to the Episcopal Church recently and studying it a ton on my personal spiritual journey. These videos of yours have been a great help! Hope your channel continues to grow and hope to see more!
Another suggestion for the readings is to do the OT reading + the NT Reading for Morning Prayer and then do the OT reading found on the opposite page (So, if we're in Year 1; choose Year 2's OT reading) + the Gospel reading for Evening Prayer. The way that I suggested is what is used in the Day by Day app (which, btw, there is an app that makes this much easier if digital is more your vibe). Pray without Ceasing!
Praying one office a day is one of my favorite spiritual disciplines. I don't use the daily lectionary, instead doing my own readings, and inserting contemplative prayer/ personal prayer between the Apostles Creed and Lord's Prayer. I find it's a great way to connect to the Lord within the framework of our tradition. It can be very grounding.
FIRST! (Had to get it in lol.) Fantastic video, mademoiselle! Solid introduction to the Offices. Great to see that you'll be praying the Offices live regularly. That's something I've been meaning to get back to myself, and something the world could use more of: public prayer on public platforms.
I hope I'll see you on stream! I'm not sure how I'm going to work it quite yet, but it should be a good time! Might even bring a few friends to sing Psalms and hymns :)
Im catholic and as of lately my spiritual life has been terrible i haven't been going to mass because i discovered something about myself that the catholic church would not agree with but recently i went to an episcopal mass and it kinda got me back on my feet i really like how similar our liturgy is and the episcopal mass and church i went to felt even more traditional than the catholic mass and church i usually attend this has made me thinking of possibly converting but it would be a big step for me because im also a recent catholic convert so i feel like i would just be abandoning my church and there are also certain practices that i dont know if they are allowed like praying the rosary
I strongly encourage you to talk with a local priest! I almost guarantee they would be happy to talk to you :) If the parish you visited was very 'high' (traditional), it's likely that they would be very cool with praying the Rosary. I actually am a frequent practitioner of the Anglican Rosary, which is a bit different but a similar practice. God bless :)
I've been a churchgoer all my life, but being introduced to the Daily Office changed everything. In addition to all the reasons you game in the video, I absolutely love the language of the Office. Coming from a non-denominational background, it was a night-and-day difference. Thank you for making and sharing this video! One question: does anyone know why it's called the "Office"? What is the etymology behind that?
The hours are (as you know) descended from the canonical hours, which were also called 'officium divinum' or 'divine office.' Its my understanding that officium means something more like 'duty' or 'vocation' in latin. Language has changed so this use of office (as a synonym for duty) is now archaic, but that's the intended use in the original. Agree completely on the language- one of my favorite things about the BCP is how it (for lack of a better phrase) gets *into* you once you've prayed it for a while. You find yourself using the language and cadences without even knowing it. Thanks for watching!
Phos Hilaron is greek! it's taken from the Byzantine vespers service
I was raised Baptist, and I have recently converted to the Episcopal Church. Your videos have helped me so much as a jumping off point!
Keep up the videos, as a new member of the Episcopal Church, I really enjoy your content

Oh YEAH! EPISCOPILLED DAILY OFFICE VIDEO! A perfect gift that has just made a really terrible day for me fantastic!!!
Sorry your day has been rough- I'll send up a prayer or two that it gets better.

Awesome!
My BCP bookmarks are a torn up Club Mint wrapper (not sure America has these) 😔
"The Lord be with me, and also with me"
I use an old tax letter and half a church announcements sheet so you're in good company.
Commenting for the algorithm 🙏 Keep up the great work!
Thank you thank you!
my bcp is very heavily bookmarked 😭. they help so much
I’m too psyched to see a new video from you!

This was very well made. I would love a video like this on saints in the Episcopal church.
I need to send this to my parish’s associate rector. He leads the catechism classes for our parish.
I use the 1662 book of common prayer, also super based with old language
God Bless, thank you so much for this awesome video! :D

Are you a Mattins guy or an Evensong guy?
Just picked up the Anglican Office Book, what perfect timing for this video! 😁
Also commenting for the algorithm. Happy to see another video from this channel!

@Episcopilled I plan to stream Evening Prayer as often as I can. :-)

When you really get into the rhythm of the liturgy and the church year, it really puts you into a different headspace.
God bless this channel!
Awesome, another video! I I know I'm gonna love this channel. Let it grow!
Just bought my first BCP!
