@@nanakabenot sure about that but when I listen to the vocal howling song on here and then compare to the original recording, my supermix 4 sounds pretty closer to the nova here with a touch better bass control and more natural vocals.
Nova sounds like the vocal is inside the mix which is good for music listening but SM4 sounds the vocal is a bit on front which is better if you are singer because you can easily identify the voice. by the way this was during Electronic+vocal: Howling
i love the treble parts on SM4 it sounds like very natural and not piercing to my ears. i also like the nova because it sounds like my Audiotechnica m50x
To me Nova seems a clear winner. Let me explain why..... SM4 is great by the way, has lots of air and lots of details in the vocals and upper treble. This is great but for long listening hours this isn't great!! This would fatigue. SM4 is not for all music genres go to IEM its catered to specific listener and the type of music/tracks. On the other hand Nova is tamed well and behaves well. If SM 4 is a tiger with rough coat. Then Nova is a bear with slightly smooth coat. I am not losing anything with Nova good bass balanced with good to decent treble details. Marriage made in heaven basically. 😄 Edit: If you guys listen to the "Middle Eastern" track, this is a great example. SM4 produces excellent details but its sharp it peaks so badly and also there is no enough bass thump or kick to compensate the peak or harshness. Where the Nova maintain the details decently well with clean bass to compensate.
Supermix is superior but it takes listening closely to all tracks to see how it unveils in comparison. Its super close and they are each others equal for edit: different taste
I have both Nova and SM4 this is not the sound of both of these IEMs, they are almost similar. But to your test SM4 is so bright but it's really smooth to any genre. And Nova is so bassy to your test, but it's really smooth too, there's a bass but not this bassy as your test.

@@Yoman911nine if that was in response to me, then no, on this recording the supermix 4 sounds a bit thin and nasally but in person using the original recordings and comparing it to this the supermix 4 sounds much fuller, maybe in person the nova sounds even smoother again/darker but most reviews I've read say the supermix 4 is natural and smooth while the nova is too forward in the upper mids/lower treble making vocals too forward. one thing these recordings can't tell you is soundstage and imaging and where vocals are placed. it only gives you a rough idea of the sound signature and honestly not a very accurate one from my experience. and no listening on mixing headphones/iems/studio monitors won't make listening to this recording as accurate to testing the IEMs in person. but I doubt even Glenn believes they would.
Stock tuning, the Nova may sound better to some by having less clarity and imaging but a little more warmth, so more musical. I prefer supermix 4 clarity with tuning. I'm using full OFC iem cables and an Onix Alpha dongle dac. Slow filter. I don't really need to EQ but when I do I boost upper bass by 1, lower mid by 1 and actually lower the treble by .5 to create more warmth and less piercing so I can crank the volume to max on my phone and 60 on my Onix (super loud for me) without my ears ringing.
truthear smoother, SM4 too peaky in the treble
I have SM4 its not peaky in treble at all, I wonder if there is something wrong with his unit.
@@alvargif the unit has problem, it means that simgot's quality control is not as good as truthear's

What's the first song?
Novas are dark
The Nova sounds better. The SM4's upper mids and treble are too high. I wouldn't be able to listen to them for a very long time.
All simgot have same issues.
his testing rig exaggerates the peaks, I have the SM4 and it sounds smooth and clear
either that or your ear unfortunately not sensitive enough to tell
