I just want to say thank you for this video you made. I work in a small bike shop and spent almost 2 months looking for a PU Rod supplier near me. I’ve finally just completed a restoration on a customer’s 97’ Santa Cruz Chameleon with an Indy XC where both elastomers crumbled completely. I can’t wait to handover the bike and a million thanks to you and RJ!
SRP has some cartridge rebuild kits, screwed and the springs if to want to replace the MCU with those. I'm presently rebuilding a 1st gen HD fork with a cartridge rebuild and new MCU. Got an HD shock in 2018 with a 1996 Stumpjumper and knew they had been rebuilt. The MCU that were used just started to crumble. Amazingly only 4 are split or crumbling and one cartridge is leaking. I still have an original Judy Butter unopened that I'll use for the refresh.
Bike shops couldn't help with original equipment and suggested industrial product. Found this video and rebuilt two forks that had degraded and crumbling foam elastomers with urethane. Took advice to build in some extra length to allow for more or less rigidity. Thanks for the video. Saved me a bundle.
I always snag the innards out of old Rockshox Indies as they have very handy elastomers that last forever and handy springs that fit in almost all forks made. i'm hoping to find an old fork with some titanium speed springs.
I had a coil and oil Rockshox GPS Sierra (US) Europa(EU?) not the Metro GPS. Instead of a heavy spring they sold a heavy rider elastomer kit that went inside the coil spring. I found an NOS kit. I put it inside the coil on my Ebike converted Gary Fisher Solstice (2004). I cut it a little short for a soft initial spring for small bump compliance. that stiffens up in turns and stabilized the steering geometry. Not too many options out there for a newer 26" 60mm fork. So this is useful even for older coil spring forks. I may even be stuffing one in a new Rockshox XC30 fork
Cool video Roy. I have an old Raleigh M400 with the Indy C forks. The specialized looks similar in all the components except for the hubs because yours are black.
I have the quarda 21r and the elastomers have turned to clay in bith tubes, I can only get the top 3 sections out, the rest are down deep in the tube. What a mess.
I have the same fork and the one elastomer is completely disintegrated. Going to follow your lead, just ordered from kprenurathan. Thanks for posting your video.
This was a good video however, I used the Steed Springs to rebuild my Moab 1 with RS Indy XC forks and they are amazing. I like the springs so much better than the original elastomers. Match your weight to the spring colors are you will be fine. Steed Springs are 100% good to go.
@@ludovicfeicht152 Hi. I am not 100% sure if the Steed Springs kit is compatible with your Indy S. Best advice is to check out a seller on EBAY named Speciality Retro Products as he specializes in these kits. Contact him and I am sure he can help you. If this works for your Indy S, 100% do it! The worst part is fishing out the old degraded elastomers. Get a wire coat hanger, bend a sharp "V" shaped hook and keep at it, you will get them out eventually. Best of luck and I hope they work out for you.

Is there a new link to the ebay store? The old one doesn't work anymore. Thank you
Sorry no looks like he's no longer on ebay. I don't know of any other, but will say the rebuild with them is still going strong after 3 years.
You can purchase elastomer rods in different diameters and hardness values from USA industrial suppliers like McMaster Carr.

What happened to the link? Amy updates?

i used airgun springs
Saludos tengo una Indy xc y en México no he podido conseguir el repuesto. Elastomeros presentan daño.
may i know the actual diameter of elastomer ?
Actual diameter is "actually" 3/4in or .75in or 19.05mm.
@@motleypixel thank bro. I have rockshock indy but mo more elastomer. Glad to watching your video.
Maybe cut it a little longer then square off on the sander wheel
Hey my man, how much oil did you use in each side? Just happened on one for my 92 zaskar and want to freshen it up a bit.
15cc per side, says so in the manual page 4: suspensionforkparts.net/manuals/RockShox/Rock_Shox_Indy_1998.pdf

Freeze it before you drill
I have speed springs
You could also replace the elastomer with springs... check out steed springs on ebay... www.ebay.com/itm/124219075209
