RIP to the legend.. John Madden.. I had to come here and listen to some of the old tunes from that era. When the NFL was the game! Where players didn't hold back when the receivers came across the middle. The jack tatums. The Ronnie lots. The Steve atWaters. Just a great era for football. The players, the sound scores, the decades (70s 80s), was just a perfect storm for a great game.. thank you John. Be well. 🙏
My dad would blast these songs before every one of my football games he had em on cd. he said this is was football music. I played RB. Equalizer would be in my head every time I'm at the goal line. My old man always said no quit. And for some reason this would blast in my head
"The road to the Super Bowl is long and pointless; I mean, when you think about it. But now the two conference champs must survive a harrowing bye week that no one enjoys."
You can feel the stride of performance when you hear those horns... its a miracle of sound expressed by the spirit of the pursuit to accomplish... and the strings that push the pace and seizing the stage... for definitive victory of note.
Led by a quarterback by the name of Frank wright The Buffalo bills were destined on this Sunday afternoon at Buffalo's Rich stadium The comeback began in the second half Frank wright leading the Buffalo bills to a 41/38 victory against the Houston oilers...... That's what I can here John facenda in my own head.....💯☑️
As a Houston sports fan that game still gives me nightmares to this day. That was the problem with the run and shoot you could score alot of points but you have to be able to run the ball to kill the clock in the 2nd half. That was their biggest undoing. They also had no answer for Andre Reed he lit them up in that game.
😂 yeah the old NFL films music can get you in that mindset. Listen to the raiders theme next. I’m not a Raiders fan but that track is legendary. “Golden boy again” is great too. Autumn Thunder, Classic battle
Actually, it makes me want to dash outside into the cool crisp air, and play some backyard football with my friends & family. Nothing can top football, NOTHING! Whether it's played on the beach in the sand, the deep snow of the north, a muddy field, grass, or artificial turf...it is the greatest game ever played by men.
American football has a lore to it that no other sports have. Soccer tries to capture it like with maradonna’a “hand of god” and performers like pele, but nothing can top the lore of American football
This song is like: down by 5, 1:23 left in the 4th, no timeouts, win or go home, epic-clutch drive... in the snow, while playing away. Fuck yeah. Epic football; nothing like it. XD
Favorite NFL theme song ever! I no longer watch or support football anymore because it’s too violent and t he industry has destroyed too many players and families’ lives, but I did enjoy the great parts of the game. And music like this added to the magic
This song was used in NFL's Greatest Games Vol. 2 for Stenurude's missed field goal in the Christmas Day playoff game between Kansas City & Miami Dolphins.
Stuff like this bred in my bones. I value the stuff the matters and do really value what everyone likes. Its just people dont seem to understand we dont have the stuff today without back then. Packers fan I am and the icebowl is a treasure to me. Me being who I am is why I continue to suffer knowing amazing things lie ahead foe me. Including maybe finding a nice girl. Im a very discerning young man.
Does anyone know the exact year this track was released, and for what NFL Films video? Sam Spence did music for NFL Films from 1966-1990. What's strange is that such a well-known song was not released on "Autumn Thunder -- 40 Years of NFL Films Music (1964-2004)".
wow, i don't usually find comments on youtube from intelligent life forms like you, but yea i can relate. i see what you mean and that's a great name. its like an everlasting fight to run the ball down the field. it's a struggle to finally put the big score up on the board. the song defines football
The equlizer reminds me of that 80a sci-fi movie Life Force starring Steve railsback known for the stunman the lead tille sounds erily like the equalizer they probably copied it off that but it's still awesome. With the sound of thunder coming from those big drums that echo into the distance wish they could play that music on ESPN IF THEY WERE REAL MEN THAT IS.
@omegared12387 i always think about the guy who does those nfl things talkin about "it was deep in 4th quarter and johnelway managed to complete 18 passes and win the game".
omg i wish Madden would go back to using these songs instead of the trendy music.
Da Riffs remixes were good too. Why did Madden 13 go with ditching Sam’s work?
droopy562 remember the madden 11 intro
droopy562 yep, they had them all...once.
This theme was omitted from Madden 19 because it would be out of place for a run getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage for a loss of a yard.
reason I'm here

This is the zenith of music. To find a way and overcome, without words.
I don't even watch football and I'm ready to line up.

Could also be called "The Great Struggle" Because of the
melancholy tune to it. Makes me think of the 4th and 26.

Wow, the nostalgic memories of growing up watching NFL Films.
I could imagine George Carlin on the sidelines with a whistle while letting all 45 guys play at the same time.
This song runs through my mind when deciding what to order at McDonalds.
