Hi every month if you have the weather
Have you looked into solar power, I have a solar 20w panel on my shed that feeds an old car battery via a voltage controller, I use a 12V timer (Ebay) and a 12v bilge pump and that water's my tomatoes and peppers in my greenhouse through a 15mm water pipe system reducing down to 6mm pipes to induvial pots.

Kirsty, well done for finding gardening as therapy. I have depression and working in my garden here in South Australian is seriously good for me. Love the garden, keep up the great work. Matthew

Thank you. I needed this today. Feeling a bit blue as I’m in Michigan U.S. where my garden is covered in snow.

Hi Kirsty. I'm watching your video from Beach haven, NZ. I feel so envious of your plot. We don't have allotments in NZ, just a few community gardens. it would be great to see a monthly update of your plot progress. It's full summer here, a very strange stormy summer at that. Most of my plants grow in pots because we have very little space for vege gardens. Thanks for introducing yourself. It will be fun watching as your seasons move on and see what you grow and harvest during each season.

I'm looking forward to the toils of labour on your epic journey through the year on kirstys nice little allotment. It's not much fun this time of the year, preparing those borders for the first warmth to kiss the ground.

Just discovered your channel today and looking forward to sharing your journey. You certainly have a very striking shed and greenhouse plus a compost area that would put Charles Dowding to shame . Subscribed and will be catching up on your other videos today instead of watching the world cup .

I love your allotment. I am looking forward to tours as often as you would like to provide updates. I just like a nice long video occasionally and the shorter one's just as much. I am in the US and have a small back yard garden that is basically ready for spring since I never really did a winter garden.

Hello again Kirsty….I got my allotment (Norwich) in June 19 at the time I was on insta & found you there. I suffered badly with my MH later that year following surgery and came off insta as it affected it. But my allotment became my solace, at times where I was struggling I’d always feel better being down the plot. Even now when I’m having a low day I take myself off to the plot and feel invigorated 😊

  • @nineteenninetyfive
    @nineteenninetyfive ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah my allotment is my happy place and the great thing about my allotment is that even in the winter and when its rainy I can still spend a good bit of time enjoying thinking about my plans and of course getting some ideas from videos like this. That greenhouse is really nice. One kind of life lesson I genuinely learned from doing my allotment is that doing a little bit often can make a big difference, and on the other hand if I neglect my allotment it can take what is a great pleasure and become a source of worry. In the winter i sometimes just go down to check on the bird feeder and have a bit of a nosey around.

My dahlias were a big disappointment too, I’m leaving them in the ground and I’ve mulched with used compost from my tomatoes in pots. The new compost bays look amazing. Love the lavender path and the big rosemary too. My allotment survived this year because neighbours were kind enough to water when I couldn’t get there. I’d recommend taking cuttings from the perennial kale, they don’t like being moved. Pigeons do love it in my garden too. I have to say my allotment is tidier than my garden at this time of year! Good luck with all your projects, look forward to seeing how you get on .

Your plot is huge, looking forward to the transformations. Instead of getting rid of the old compost bays by the GH, could you not use them and the darlek bins to make leaf mold? A tour on a monthly basis would be great.

Hi Kirsty. Lovely to meet you, am looking forward to following your allotment journey. My garden is my sanctuary , it offers me much joy and comfort. Over here my dahlias are just staring to peep through the soil. I am so glad to hear how healing gardening has been for you and hope it will continue to be so. Cosmos and zinnias are lovely to have in the perennial garden. Monthly updates would be good but just do what works for you. Many thanks for sharing, all the best. 🌼🌹

There's three things that get me to subscribe to a channel:
    Personality, of course.
    Niche
Is it a "reality" channel. (real life ideas)
IMO, we need as many channels giving obtainable inspiring ideas as we can get.
I consider a monthly video is ideal for the plot tours.

It is absolutely delightful to listen to this and see the positive impact this allotment and gardening has had on your life. It's a very important message that you are sending to people of all ages. And I truly hope you can pass this wonderful experience onto your girls.... I'm extremely jealous of course, but with work and my children it would be impractical, but will continue to tune in as it makes me smile.... keep it up 👍

Looked for videos on "small allotment plots" for inspirational ideas (I have 100square metres) and its first suggestion was yours - I think mainly because of your channel - My little allotment. but yours is huge😄. Anyway, you have a new subscriber. Maybe rhubarb would be good to put in the perenial bed with your asparagus. Also, I have a question about the Rosemary - my plot I got end of May 2022. I have just cut back all the weeds and watched it throguh summer and autumn. This year will be the first year I see it from Spring onwards, and I have a similar sized Rosemary bush. Do you prune it at all? I am unsure whether I just leave it alone.
