This video is much an audio experience. I recommend decent headphones! The drama of a train rumbling through the wilderness, slowly builds to a peak, then fades and fades into the distance. What remains after the train is a striking silence. I hope you enjoy!
Hey Erik, just want to say thanks. You help me look for beauty in otherwise mundane events of my day. I really appreciate your creativity. Thanks man, Edward
Erik, I love the direction your channel is taking - immersive experiences of such beauty, even with man-made elements like trains and cabins, etc. And of course we still get the holy moment of a perfectly made coffee over the Trangia Triangle. I will watch this multiple times, with the sounds cranked up. Thanks for these moving pieces of art.
Erik, that was a very impressive piece of work! You totally nailed the idea of the silence after the train. I have spent more than 25 years on the rails, and I used to really enjoy my job and would sometimes make camping and railfan trips to photograph the railroad in the desert or mountains of California. The silence after the train is always the best part. The noise and ground tremble of a freight train either slogging uphill in tight curves, or flying along up close at maximum track speed, is nicely quenched by the heat and silence of a desert night... or you can hear the rain again... or the breezes in the trees. You can hear the ties, ballast and steel slowly relax back into rest after the train passes. Maybe if you're near a motored track switch, you can hear it re-line for the next plan from the Dispatcher. Then the silence or natural sounds are heard again, with seemingly more importance or clarity. All of which is a perfectly gradual thing, as the ears begin to relax again. Well done!
🤩 XLNT!! XLNT!! Your expertise in capturing awesome shots is amazing.👍 At Petikan: WOW!! That white/brown BLOB was/is creepy and eerie; creeping along on its way to devour whatever stood in its path!! Beautiful capture. Watched it over & over 3-4 X's. Been a subscriber for a good minute. Strong coffee; Look forward to your "Thumbs UP" trademark. Stay safe and healthy! Thank you ... 😇
Monochrome beauty. Drama and amazing cameo shots. I am going to pick a screen shot from this to practise some drawing. Thanks for the inspiration, Erik.
Toga. Wonderful video. My focus goes from trains to your very nice looking gloves, to terrain, river, bridges. And then to the people who blasted, chipped, hauled out all that rock. Rhetorically why there's a fence on one side of the gorge and not the other. Realizing the moment is more important than any answers.
That was beautiful, Erik! I worked as a Freight Conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad, from Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah to Green River and Rawlins, Wyoming; a distance of 200-330 miles (322-530 km), for 41 years. This brought back many wonderful memories to me--thank you! I appreciated how you captured the sequence of sounds, from the cacophonous roar, to the blissful silence. It was wonderful, like all of your productions are. I was surprised at how short the trains were. Our trains averaged one and one-half miles long (2.4 km) back in the day. Now, it is common to see trains over two miles long (3.22 km). Thank you, Erik.
Absolutely lovely Erik. I could have watched this all day. I may watch it many times today. Just wonderful and beautiful and peaceful and... lovely. Thank you.
I love this one so much. The trains are wonderful, the snowy landscape and the audio as the trains approach, pass and fade into the silence is exquisite. Trains in the snow remind me of the holidays when my dad and I would put up our electric trains around the Christmas tree and if we were lucky it would be snowing outside. Thank you for bringing that childhood memory back to a man in his 70's. I also enjoy your coffee breaks on the trail and always wait for the "thumbs up". I often bring my stove and coffee on hikes because of your videos and enjoy a warm cup alone in the forest. I'm really glad you're back and exploring new themes in your videos and I hope you're feeling well. Thank you Erik.
Very nice! In your videos you always note the names of the various flowers, birds, etc that you see on your hikes, which is so nice, so helpful. How fun that you also noted the train numbers. Lots of work on this video and greatly appreciated!
I love this sound! I live on the hillside near the Danube in Budapest, and in the night I can always faintly hear trains and freighters passing on the bridge. The low frequency rumble. It's same right beside and far away! These recordings ar spot on!
Well noted Erik, I have lived for many years by train tracks, and trains. When I wanted to know when a train was in proximity of me I would put my ears to the tracks, and listen for the vibration of the next train, and guess how far away it was! When I was a kid, I learned to observe with my ears as well! The coffee is a good way warm up while waiting on the next train! Peace!
Very nice Erik! Just to think I have been enjoying time watching and listening to trains pass by in a black and white environment is a testament to your artistry. Thank you and please carry on!
Hello Erik, it looks that your previous job is tempting you still... Anyway picture and sound timing in this film footage is profesional. I enjoy your work, thanks. Petr
I like that you went to several places and used different views and angles of the camera to watch the trains pass. So that's Train spotting. 'The Silence After The Train". So very artfully interesting. Thanks Erik. T. 🇭🇲🐞
That is quite a busy railway track Erik. Absolutely stunning capture of the trains in the cutting. Grest to see the old machinery of yesteryear sitting lonely in the forrest. Thanks for this captivating vision. Bushyboy Oz
Wow, amazing! I don't know anything about trains or spotting them, but it looks and especially sounds great when I listened with quality headphones. Like your films always. Thanks for this sir!
One will never be able to experience those exact same feelings; one can, nonetheless, try. We watch this that we are given; and we take a break from the noisy world - if nothing else, that is no trifle, for sure.
Has National Geographic, Walt Disney or Time-Life called you yet? THEY SHOULD!! Seriously Erik this is some top quality stuff here only to be found in Box-office hits movie makers. I can hear the difference with those mics with the Jecklin disc. Reminds me of the 1970's stereo recordings which was the last of "REAL" stereo recordings unlike the flanged/delayed chorus filtered 'work-arounds of music tracks these days. I can hear a bird chirping on the left while you are closing the lid on your kettle on the right, that blows me away. And your camera operating skills are a match. Thanks for posting. Such a great contrast of sounds and mood.
So yet again the winter settles in. The snow falls and the life on the railway moves on as always, regardless of season or weather. Do you find yourself with any new insights about the railway life now that your'e on the outside looking at it?
One of my first thoughts was of the war in Ukraine and how that country should also have the daily peace of people and goods rolling through the countryside and someone (Erik) who can also safely bring us these tranquil gems.
You are so correct, Erik! Your artful videos should be enjoyed with a good headset! The lovely visual art is turned into a masterpiece by the sound...and do you find the silence of old abandoned buildings, a passing trains...to have a sad, lonely and poignant quality? Like silence that is not silent? Thanks and wishing you all the very best.
Thank you Ann. I think that is a good description. Silence has a contemplative ingredient that I appreciate. And together with abandoned places it puts you in a special mood, perhaps melancholy.
Annorlunda film.
Vad hände i Petikån?
This video is much an audio experience. I recommend decent headphones! The drama of a train rumbling through the wilderness, slowly builds to a peak, then fades and fades into the distance. What remains after the train is a striking silence. I hope you enjoy!
Absolutely. Through headphones, the best!
Thank you. This was enjoyed by my entire family, enjoying coffee and company. beautiful
Thank you for the video and the stereo sound, I very much appreciate your efforts. Brings back train memories.
I live 35 meters from the
Union Pacific's main freight line between Chicago and Minneapolis. It definitely sounds better in Winter.
As a trainman myself, I appreciate this. Especially in snow. Trains, snow and non-urban environments are a special combination
Thanks Erik! Your career background in the railroad is reflected in the quality of your video.
Truly: an awesome video! Beauty, created by a snowfall, is one of God’s most amazing creations and you have captured that here. Wonderful!
I appreciate trains, and silence too: each in their own time!
Hey Erik, just want to say thanks. You help me look for beauty in otherwise mundane events of my day. I really appreciate your creativity. Thanks man, Edward

At the very end of the day and night, yours are the videos I turn to for calmness. Thank you Erik from Jeff in Australia.
This is by far one of my favourites along with the spooky cabin from a few years ago.
Favorite part....The Night Train. 🚂 ☀️The lightly falling snow makes the silence louder....❄❄❄❄❄🤫

I don't know how I missed this piece!
my guy, you're a painter of stillness and maaan the last two shots 🖤💥

Thanks for the nice trainspotting video and the effort in making it. So, winter has arrived. 👍
Erik, your attention to detail is much appreciated! 👍👋Keep doing, pushing and progressing - wish you all good things. Greetings fr Finland, Janne
Thanks Janne

I totally agree!! I will also watch it many times. 👍
I realise especially in this video how much more I love - I prefer the silence then the human made noise!!
Very very Stunning Suasaning
I love the outdoors, winter and trains! Great viewing experience... Nicely done Erik 👍
Trains and a gorgeous looking video - a perfect combination.
Erik, I can see you love trains, so do I.

Sunday and coffee with Erik is a Holly moment ☕🍀❤️🍀How is your winter wonderfully 😍
Being an old railroader, I love this one.
Awesome video as always. Snow is sticking on the ground now in my part of Canada and soon it will be ski season and I will be happy!
A very enjoyable sensory experience. There is an intrinsic beauty in the bleakness with the interplay between the built environment and nature.
Very nice! In your videos you always note the names of the various flowers, birds, etc that you see on your hikes, which is so nice, so helpful. How fun that you also noted the train numbers. Lots of work on this video and greatly appreciated!
very nice very facinating and heart and soul touching

Favorite sound = the crinkle of the bag of coffee. Precious. Wonderful work Erik!
This is awesome. Major dedication lugging that jecklin disk setup around
Beautiful, just beautiful as always Erik, thank you.😊
3:54 that is one strong tea
such silent beauty!!!

Wow, early Winter Snowfall. Nice one, very special. Thank you Erik, big Hug, Cheerio.
Thats really wonderful. Have a great Sunday.
👍👍👍
Superb .. a Visual and Audio Feast!
Thank you Erik, for sharing ..
Glad you like it Thomas! :)
Just perfect, Erik, thank you. Especially those last two trains coming right towards the camera 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Really nice job

Reminded me of The KLF album, "Chill Out"
Excellent!
Super trains.
Snow flowing down a calm river, beautiful!
Stunningly beautiful film, Erik. Thank you.
I like that you went to several places and used different views and angles of the camera to watch the trains pass. So that's Train spotting. 'The Silence After The Train". So very artfully interesting. Thanks Erik. T. 🇭🇲🐞
And after that coffee break, Erik single-handedly shoveled the entire forest in one hour
Wow!
Subscribe if you loved the video, thumbs up if you liked the video.
The landscapes you capture are amazing. The efforts you go to in order to capture the audio is really appreciated also. Thank you
good one thanks
Brilliant stuff, Erik. I loved the way the sound trailed off as it went past. The foam line floating by was amazing too. 👍🙂
This reminds me of my time in northen Sweden around Skellfteå/Umeå, 6 years in the wonderful landscape. Thanks Erik for this great experience.
enjoyed completely! several very good "still-photo" compositions.
I enjoyed watching this . Good one .
Thanks Geoffrey
This is a work of art Erik, thank you so much.
Stunning, meditative piece
Ännu en fantastisk film!
Fantastic, Erik!

Absolutely captivating visual and audio experience! This is truly wonderful to behold!
A refreshingly different take on train spotting. (Not sure British spotters will appreciate it….😉)
Art

👍 I could not agree more with you.
I needed this today.
Another wonderful video with great audio as well. Your rig needs a tiny umbrella. 🙂
Grymt Erik! Jag jagar precis där :-)
Tack Benjamin.
fantastique

Tack Hugo! Not more than I think I prefer watching from the side rather than driving them :) even if it many ways was a good job too.
Favorite compositions at 4:34, 7:30 and 9:40
One more point of interest: Walking away from camera; y our style is very much Military. Nice!!

Maybe you might post 'Trains and Snow at Jörn Railway Station' here ;)
I have thought about it :) but then I'd have to remove it from my other channel as YT won't accept duplicates.
@@erik_normark True, you rule ;)
Excellent video as always, the sound quality in this one is exceptional. Are you still using the same set up or have you upgraded? Well done.
Thanks Phil. I have the same setup, but with a little more "serious" audio rig for this video.
