Hi, I’m Chelsea! I am a ninth year music teacher at a public school in Cincinnati, Ohio where I teach over 600 K-6 grade students each week. The first two years of my career were spent teaching 6-12th grade choir and show choir!
I have also been a virtual healthy habits Coach for over 7 years, with a goal of helping other busy teachers make time for their physical and mental health.

My student teaching experience. I split my day between middle school choir and elementary. The middle school director was doing his admin internship at the same time so he left me completely alone from day 1…they ate me alive. It was terrible. My elem. person’s parent died a week into my time with her so she left to deal with that in another state, again I was on my own. I had NO IDEA what I was doing, no curriculum, no plans, it was awful! But have been teaching elem. music for 24 years now, so everything worked out😂 Seriously worst student teaching experience ever. I have my first student teacher this fall, and I’m really excited about it! Thanks for sharing your experience.

As someone going into student teaching in a few months, what's surprising is that you were able to interview them. I wish my university did it so we found a compatible match

I’m not sure if it’s a common thing but when they emailed to ask if I would take one I said on that one condition. I really think it made a difference!

I've been teaching for over 13 years and have had several student teachers. Some of them were great and super enthusiastic but some of them not so much lol We just got what we got and didn't throw a fit with who we received as student teachers.

Wow, that’s a lot of student teachers in that amount of time. I definitely like teaching too much to have them that often 🤣 not teaching got boring pretty quickly, although I still enjoyed watching her!
