What if blocking weapons could just litteraly do what the name suggest ? Like when using a blocking weapon you can go into a "guard" pose like the Tyranids majoris do and block every light attack and range damage and a few heavy hits
Headshot affixes probably don’t affect gunstrikes because sniper’s team perk on cooldown reduction doesn’t trigger from gunstrikes, meaning it’s not a headshot
Gun strikes are shot from the hip. You can parry into gun strike, ADS and land couple shots, then fire gun strike from the hip. Also when parrying tyranids combos, you can often squeeze in single quick attack in between if you use knife or chainsword.
Another way to know that gun strikes don’t count as headshots is the tactical using the perk that instakills a majoris or higher after auspex scan (lvl25) You can also parry to engage auspex, following up with a gunstrike doesn’t trigger the perk, even when it’s definitely off cooldown Ergo deffo not a headshot
@ does have a cooldown of 120s, maybe you’ve got an accidental headshot after scan somewhere. Easy to happen if you use the “perfect party causes auspex scan” perk because all it takes then is one bullet to the head. Also melta and iirc plasma don’t headshot well
I can attest that from time to time ive been doing mele attack before gun strike and it felt like it was really good dps wise. In Mortal dificulty this is really a test of being able to judge when you need the gun strike or not (shield, crowd control/aoe stun). Ty for the vid, I hope this is right, because it goes to show the genious and depth of this game. Also it's definitly not reliable to not gun strike, it's your friend that can eventually react and do it, otherwise go for melee before gun striking.
My personal opinion about fencing and blocking weapons. I think fencing weapons should be attack focused that doesn’t do much damage to the enemies with a lot of attack damage with attacks. Blocking should provide you with damage to the enemy with parry’s but not much when attacking
that's why no one uses Blocking weapons. even without data ming, I've always felt Blocking Weapons need to do double their current damage to make them even barely viable. It's not just the damage multiplier but also the extra knockback
If they remove Hitstop, give bolters real buffs, make dodge cancel the attack animation, rework some trash perks, fix the matchmaking and give PVP some love then this game would be saved
One other thing they might not be considering….do gun strikes get bonus from headshot multiplier as well. Edit - this buff was mentioned early in the tutorial deathwatch stage when they discuss perfect parry, but most probably skimmed over that and wanted to get back into the action.
Why is the damage bonus of parry a surprise? It's literally spelled out in game. People just went "ya right" Oh but sure a data miner (who also doesn't read) digs it up and suddenly people actually believe it.
I don't really have an issue with parry /perfect parry I would like if they would implement, the "take cover mechanic that G.O.W, had that would be nice but I'm sure that's out of the question as it would probably require a lot of reworking to the base game. Also suggesting using an entire magazine to kill one enemy seems counter intuitive but that's me. But I mostly play Assault then tactical second most played, majores die (if I choose to not melee) with 2 perfect parry's and 2 gun strikes.
That's the thing, it would go against what an Astartes is in the first place since on the Tabletop they have their armour save is the same as cover save, so they basically are the cover.
Ah sure, lets make this amazing mechanics for melee combat to make it more enjoyable....LETS NOT TELL THE PLAYERS ABOUT IT, forcing them to datamine this, AND MAKE AN ENTIRE SUBGROUP OF WEAPONS THAT DONT WORK WITH IT!!!! - Saber devs Good lord, and people ask me why I dont have faith on them.
@@thecommentguy9380 did you knew there was a difference in parry types? and what is this of learn to parry when discussing the existence of block weapons? dude!
@nicolasvillasecaali7662 better question: how is it you haven't realized that blocking isn't a defense type but a nerf? It literally trades your ability to parry for more damage, if you use it then you're supposed to just dodge
Block weapons ought to just add a greater perfect dodge window. Allowing it to block orange attacks would make it OP.
Nahh it would be fine since Block weapons are garbage since day 1
What would you think if block weapons had like a clash mechanic, something similar to the mini game when you get pinned by a lictor or ravener?
@@esotericessences that's QTE

I've been doing this unintentionally, perfect parry into melee and then interupt with the gunstrike for stunning majoris, works pretty good

How do you get that off, I've tried scanning and doing a head shot but it didn't work.

You cancel the animation with parry then you dodge. It's extremely effective
