    My best friend had this growing up!! We used to build some serious past present and future empires with this train set being 1 of like 20 centerpieces!! He and his family had a lot of money, and always took him and I to Toysrus and they wouldnt only buy him toys, they let me pick out toys, buy them for me to take home! But this set bought back sooo many memories!! 100s-1000s of sleep overs for weekends over the years!!

    Nice score, glad you got more than you thought. Why LEGO thinks trains won't sell and do cool things like that now is beyond me. I don't know if they could make one handle their curves, but I would love a big boy.

      If they made eider radius curves - it would sell. And the big boy too

    There's nothing wrong with the City box. If you're looking at the front of the box (as displayed on a shelf) the top (ie, top-side panel) is going to show the train from bottom to top. This is so the train will appear as it should when the customer is looking at the box on the store shelf (a big set like this would be on the bottom shelf, so it reasons the top of the box would be visible and so must show the train right-side-up from both the front and top panel of the box).

    I like the tank engine version of the large locomotive and would have enjoyed seeing it running. I wish the Lego Express had come with the extra parts needed to build that version.
    I feel your pain on the box having upside-down sides. The boxes for Titans Return Trypticon and Fortress Maximus do the same damn thing!

    Those 1x1 modified bricks in blue are super expensive, ask me how I know 😅. The only seller I saw that had 12 of them were selling them for $3 each 😬. Also nice trick for getting quadruple watch time, you used the same clip at 10:35 and 11:27 so I watched them back again to make sure I wasn't crazy 😂

    When you was checking to see when the guy originally bought the set and said it was 2004 I thought that’s not too long ago, then I thought about it’s bit more and realised it is almost 20 years ago. Lol
    I think the problem I have is since the year 2000 there hasn’t been a satisfactory way of defining the separate decades. Before you had the 70s, 80s and 90s and now we will probably use the 20s for this decade but between we had two decades without a clear definition.

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just talking with my family the other day about how the early 2000s don’t seem that long ago - like we are still in that era. But when you think about 1977 been as close to 2000 as today - I’m wondering where the time went. Definitely see the changes in styles and homes and trends between decades until the 90s. I don’t know what the trend is the last 23 years. Maybe people glued to their phone watching Bricktsar videos - lol

      @@destinvole3188 I just heard a mentioning of it, I didn't see it in the video. They just brought up the existence of it during a live haul for a big store in which a similar, but less rare train set, OIB, came in. I just wasn't aware there were train sets you could buy individual cars for. Then I think they mentioned your train set, I think, but perhaps I was wrong. Either way, nice score!

    Hey Jaabo
    I’ve come to the conclusion that LEGO are dumb. People like trains. People like LEGO. Combine both and you’ve got happy customers. It’s not difficult and it’s certainly not rocket science!
    Unfortunately, TLG don’t seem to be bothered about keeping loyal customers and seem more content with targeting the 18+, Adults Only market and releasing sets none of us can afford.
    I was fortunate to have been invited to a preview of a new LEGO store built in the iconic Battersea Power Station, London. It’s just down from where the new USA Embassy is based. Apartments in the area start at $1 million for a 1 bedroom home. The “mall” itself is chock packed with high end premium brands… when I asked the LEGO PR representative about why they opened a toy store in such a pricey location, she told me that LEGO was also a premium brand! That about sums up how the hobby has gone!
