Its funny how SPL has a bad reputation in Danmei fandom just because of Changgeng's yifukink. Gu Yun got blamed because he's the older one lol On the contrary, Gu Yun is vanilla and hopeless romantic compare to Changgeng's questionable kinks. 😂 I love them for that. Aside from how romantic ChangGu are! I really enjoyed how thrilling or the suspense of Wuergu to their relationship, the steampunk war desperate battle and Changgeng's schemes in court. One of the best Danmei out there! I'm glad you two are enjoying it!

And then combined with the fear and uncertainty of blindness?! The chills! And somehow this the first I've heard of this steampunk war thriller danmei?!
One of the pictures in the book does show Chang Geng with the weird double eyes. The one where he's having the wu'ergu attack and bites Gu Yun's wrist. It's not a close up, but his eyes are definitely altered.
Same. I treat it like MDZS Wangxian's r*pe kink roleplay tbh. Not my thing but as long they are happy and Gu Yun know its wrong so I'm good. They did roleplay as doting father- spoiled son later on which I just find funny and cute because of Changgeng's being abused background during childhood. He deserve to be doted. Gu Yun prefer being the doting Yifu than hitting the maso Changgeng. He can only do half of Changgeng's kink which is fair. 😅😂

Awww, why are we kink shaming Chang Geng? I admitt the Yifu/daddy kink isnt my cup of tea but hes also a serivce top and I love that for him. I also find the slight masochism tendencies arent as bad as say Lou Binghe. Gu Yun using them with a literal slap to the ass to get Cheng Geng out of his pseudo unaliving speil was hilarious 😂. To elborate on the whole Wuer' gu ritual, crazy aunt was supposed to be given to someone else in a political marrige but Gu Yun wonders if the emperor made have sampled the goods as it were 😬 and the bandit mentioned she gave birth early. Later when Gu Yun is talking to Chen Qingxu about it she says the ritual requires siblings who share blood and the first was used on a pair of opposite gender twins. So by impalacatin the baby Xiu-niang gave birth to was a girl who was both Cheng Gung's half sister and cousin at the same time. Either way though whichever infant survived would be the Emperor's child.
If they other kid was a girl, wouldn't he have wound up intersex like the general that Miss Chen talked about though? I agree with the "sampled goods" theory, but personally I think the deceased baby was most likely a boy Also yes, the masochism is very slight here, unlike Lou Binghe who is a LOT more extreme...
