Thank you for the tips and for recording your journey. I’m prepping for my double jaw surgery in two months. It’s nice to see someone’s perspective from my same age.

Hi there, did you experience any numbness post-op? I've heard that some people who have gone through this surgery have gotten numbness in their face afterwards. What is your personal experience with numbness?

Yes. I did. In the beginning my lips and most of areas around the lips were numb. Also my gums stayed numb a long time.
Over time the area has shrunk. I’m about a year post op as of today and I still have a little bit of numbness under my lower lip. My surgeon thinks that will still go away. I hardly notice it.

Did you have a genioplasty as well? And what were your movements?

In the revision two months post op they did do a genio. My jaw movement was around 9 mm on top and around 13 on bottom. However my doctor felt my tongue was still an issue and jaw needed more movement. So she did a genio in second surgery as well as a tongue release. After this second surgery I noticed a lot better sleeping. It made a bigger difference than I expected.
