If this helps other users, my certificate was updated in the App Service but not appearing in the website. I use the Application Gateway and it has to be renewed (uploaded) in the Listeners as well. The site refreshed just fine after. Hope this helps someone else, if not for me next year when I find this video again.

You are right, the free is refering to the ssl certificate. As a developer with a vs2019 license(monthly € 130.00budget ) i did not take the website part in account. Sorry, if the title is misleading.

I might put a banner over de video later to cover the banner. title is now: Your azure website has an Azure free SSL certificate and auto renewaladded In the description: Down side: Protectiong your raw domain still costs money but and you do have to pay for azure website resources you use...
