    Awesome video Joshua and Tomo! As a westerner, I felt that some of my friends from Japan weren't listening because they avoid eye contact during conversation. Didn't know about aizuchi until now and how that's a Japanese way of showing they're listening. Joshua and Vlada are very Japanese in that they avoid eye contact during their conversations while Tomo tries to make eye contact during the video a lot more.

    ah, fellow 3rd culture adults! I'm taiwanese, grew up in int'l schools in china, singapore, went to uni + worked in canada, spent the covid years in taiwan, and I'm going to tokyo in a few weeks! super excited!

    One thing I notice right away. Likely due to her time in the U.S. and Canada, she uses hand gestures a lot when she's talking.

      @@tomotube It's aaaaall right. I lived in Japan a long time when I was younger, and I'm American, so hand gestures are completely normal.

    Is it just me or I actually heard words that sound likes imitation of British/Australian accent?
