Hello. That particular clip & most of the rest are from the documentary 'Zappa' (2020) with the footage itself probably originating from Zappa's own extensive archive I would imagine. The pinkish section around 1.50 is from Frank's 'G-Spot Tornado' promo.
@@wirewehear7254 I have watched that Zappa film a couple of times but i never noticed that particular shot of Don. I wish more footage from that era could be released as it is very exciting to see!
@@samsmyth9191 I've done a bit of investigating and, for once, my memory was correct & it is from 'Zappa' as I said. It's at 9.48 during the bit when he starts talking about Varese. Like most of the clips I found to work on, it is a frustratingly fleeting glimpse. My god, the stuff I had to trawl through just to get a few seconds of Don (if i was lucky), more usually a few frames (i.e. less than a second). In my mind there is, I'm guessing, a decent amount of stuff in Frank's vault, both visual & audio. I know other songs were recorded at or near the same time as 'Whirlpool'/'Metal Man'/'Tiger'. I've heard 'Ned The Mumbler/Brainstorm' but there's not a lot of Don on those I think. Anyway it's all in the hands of the Zappa estate I suppose. Still, for now we have these 3 which are great fun.
@@wirewehear7254 I think i read that a second song was recorded at the same time as "Lost In A Whirlpool', something to do with a loosely linked theme of "Mother Goose" which may be why Don says "Dunk those things, Mother Goose" at the end of "Whirlpool". They also did "Slippin' and Slidin'" by Little Richard during the sessions by 'The Soots' that produced "Tiger Roach" and "Metal Man Has Won His Wings". Zappa also mentioned they did an instrumental called "I'm Your Nasty Shadow".
@@samsmyth9191 Can't remember hearing anything about 'Mother Goose' but I've heard mention of the others. Incidentally, can I just ask you, if you search for these 3 songs/videos (& this has happened with others previously) in the youtube search engine, do they come up? When I search them there's no sign of them, except a few by other uploaders, then there will be completely random things that have nothing to do with what I searched. Then after it while it will invariably offer up some other one of my uploads, but not the one I actually searched for. It's bizarre. My lad says it's the youtube search which is ****ed....
