I am 8 days into making my first starter (using home milled Rye Flour). It has been an experience so far! Days 1-3 went as expected, but then the starter seemed to go to sleep. It didn't rise or create bubbles. Last night I was ready to throw in the towel and give up, but I decided to give it one more feed. This morning, it had suddenly come to life😅. I am now going to strengthen the starter by continuing to feed it until Monday. I will then build my first levain and begin the process of baking my first sourdough loaf. Wish me luck😂.
@@MrGShave I am rooting for you! I’ve had mine dormant in the fridge since I made this video… definitely need to break it out and give it another try… let me know how yours goes!
Don’t worry, we’ve all made hundreds of bad loaves haha. You just have to hang in there and keep trying! Also the age of your starter affects it A LOT. I’m not sure how long ago you made yours, but I didn’t get good loaves for a couple months after making mine. It might double in size but still not have the strength to support a loaf. It just takes time. I’ve made loaves way worse than the one you made, so just keep trying
