Makes no strategic sense other than Pakistan wanting a pay out of this... I mean their military. Pakistan is now much closer to China than US. It would be better if US establishes a base in Punjab or Rajasthan India

It's a great idea. In this way USA would have to pay huge amount of rent to India to have their military presence. It'll boom Indian economy, local businesses, and a lot of Indian girls would be able to marry the brave young soldiers and be able to fly to USA with them.
