I've been wanting to post this still since the viewpoints you get here at PDX are fantastic, and it seemed like a good time to post it after the Hawaiian HNL-PDX trip report. Hope you all enjoy!
As a Portland native and av-geek, this airport has been always been a fun experience, from the carpet, to the shops, to all the PNW deco. The airport also has cool spots to view planes from, whether that be passenger aircrafts, cargo aircrafts, and fighter jets from the 142nd wing. I love PDX!

I’m from Portland and it his really cool to see mount hood while taking off. I flew on British airways to London and Delta to Amsterdam and the sunset is beautiful
I just ran across your video. it brought back some old good memories. its been years since I and my girlfriend was at pdx plane watching. there use to be a nice parking lot on the side of marine drive where everyone would park to watch planes land and depart but since 9/11 everything was blocked so theres nowhere to park along marine drive anymore.
Take it from a Portland native. Portland has a decent variate of aircraft and airlines such as American Airlines, Alaska, delta, Dhl, FedEx,ups, Cathey pacific, British airways, condor, Iceland air, and the occasional exotic 777 or 787 from airlines such as emirates, Ana, Vietnam, or Oman.
God I wish Alaska kept the Dash 8's for longer... There's one parked at Hillsboro Airport that I taxi by all the time while with my flight instructor. It's sad to see such an awesome plane be left to rot.
hey where were you spotting from? I really want to get into plane spotting and I can only visit kpdx. I tried the short term parking but you cant actually see landings from there.
What a dreadful flight it would be to take that BA DreamLiner from a cold and dreary LHR to a cold and dreary PDX! Great collection of aircraft, many beautiful shots.
GREAT Video ALEX...couple things I noticed ... no CDN Airlines seem to fly into PORTLAND (just goes to show how poorly our system is up here) . Second , it would be nice to see the CDN GREEDY Airlines pop a College / University team logo on the planes ... the YANKS definitely get it when it comes to marketing and advertising . It seems like Alaska also had a bunch of A321neos which they retired as well? What a bunch of weirdos but I‘m sure they had their reasons

I was there during that day when the Thunderbirds arrived! It was an excellent day for spotting. Beautiful spotting 🔥
