My favorite part of RA3 was when the Soviets went back in time to kill Einstein like Einstein did to remove the tech advantage, but it didn't change the technology.
Kind of like how Einstein went back in time to avert WW2 in RA1, but it happened anyway
Ironically Einstein was pro-Soviet in real life so this would never happen to begin with...
Anyways, the tech did change a bit. Allies in RA3 don't have chrono units nor Weather Control. But they are even more advanced comparatively than at RA2... so yeah.
Instead, two other groups (FutureTech - and by extension, the Allies - and the Empire) improved on it.
ok so this is not related to Mirage vs Tesla tank but :
- Mirage tanks : short range, good at destroying everything, except infranty who takes a little bit more time if they are armored.
- Prism tank : long range, good at destroying everything but vehicles, especially apocalypse.
Now I wonder if RA 3 Mirage Tank has Prism Tank's range.....

This is without balancing, it just fused. It's just like mirage's spectrum transmitter + the prism tank's weapon.
Please do the test with enemy units next time, attacking friendly doesn't show the full potential of units. You can use a trainer to freeze AI movement for testing. Or even create custom maps using map Editor.
I think only the Futur Tank is weaker when he attack friend units
only Future tank is weaker when attacking friendlies. Other units is not affected.
@@jeremyg2236 This isn't correct. I've observed Mirage tanks having secondary "refraction" damage on enemy targets, not unlike prism tanks in RA2.
That said, it seems pretty clear that JB here is using Uprising, which never had Worldbuilder nor multiplayer added on. Though comparing units for PVP would likely be better, and using a specifically made map would afford for channeling Spirit of the Law (and better show how units compare against each other)

@@jeremyg2236 All units with high explosive type weapon do only half damage to ally units, and that's a lot of kinds of units.
A video on the hydrofoil vs bullfrog vs seawing would be interesting for aquatic AA unit comparison.

My favorite tactic in a certain Allied mission in London (Yuri's Revenge) is to set up an ambush corridor of Mirage tanks over the two main bridges. Almost nothing went through.

I think in the uprising version of RA3 they can be unlocked in challenge mode if you finish the challenge.
IF they angled the Tesla Tank to be more like its RA1 counterpart and less like its RA2 counterpart (I.e. more of a fire support vehicle and less of a proper tank) a niche would probably exist. However, the version as it exists in game steps on the toes of either the Apocalypse or Hammer tanks and is somewhat moot considering the Stingray also exists.
@@RedShocktrooperRST It doesn't feel fair that the Soviets are the only faction that doesn't have the mobile version of their advanced base defense structure available in skirmish. For example, the Allies have the Mirage tank, which is the mobile version of their Spectrum tower; the Empire has the Wave-force Artillery, which is the mobile version of their Wave-Force Tower; the Soviets have the Tesla tank, which is the mobile version of their Tesla coils. However, unlike the Mirage tank and Wave-force artillery, the Tesla tank is campaign-only and can't be built in skirmish. That doesn't make any sense to me, and it makes the game feel incomplete to leave out a unit like that.
And no, I don't consider the Stingray to be an alternative to the Tesla tank, because its damage output is far too weak compared to the Tesla tank. And even though it can also traverse land, the Stingray can only be built at a naval yard and not at a war factory, so it feels more like a sea unit rather than a land unit like the Tesla tank.
@@VinnyLam The Soviets are the only ones with an infantry counterpart. Tesla troopers might not be great offensively (that slowly animated chargeup time really kills their damage output and they're not durable enough to really be used against much), but it is generally a fair anti-surface unit. Placed in a garrison the chargeup time goes out the window, so it's a good enough defensive unit.
As well, the Mirage tank is an ambush unit, not an assault unit, and the Wave Force Artillery is the counterpart in usage to the Athena and V4. The Tesla Tank is built in such a manner as to be a Main Battle Tank given its durability, relatively short attack range, and mobility. Buffed up, you could swap it for the Apocalypse, and with some minor changes you could swap it for the Hammer. I think you could actually make a custom map script that replaces the Soviet War Factory you build with Cherdenko's War Factory or something just to see what having them in multiplayer as a base unit instead of as a captured "tech" structure is like.

G-MAN RA games always assume infantry take cover. At least that's how I see it.
My way of seeing it is infantry in RA3 doesn't represent individual soldiers but a larger unit, same for tanks and other small vehicles. While the bigger units (which tend to scale up in price explosively if you notice) are actually a single vehicle.

It seems like they do similar amounts of damage per shot, but the Mirage Tank fires faster, while the Tesla tank can split its attack to more efficiently kill infantry. Both of these units look very powerful.
The mirage has AOE so it kills infantry much more efficiently in actual combat where the infantry will likely be close to the ennemy tanks or near eachother

Developers: And I took that as a personal problem by not allowing them to build it.

@@no3ironman11100 There is no point since RA3 apocalypse are defenseless against air and can be easily bombed by either of the two planes, or even the aircraft carrier, which are now super accurate. Or, just miniature cryocopter ray and then freeze/kill...
@@nemou4985 Mirages are defenseless against air too. 1 apoc(2000$) can take on four or five mirages (8000$) in a row one on one. Can take down two mirages and a guardian (4200$). Heck, if we're gonna talk cryocopter the mirage dies even faster because it has 1/6th of the health, it freezes basically instantly compared to the apocalypse.
Do not forget that the Mirage tank hits many units at once, and the Tesla tank attacks through the walls.

In RA2 they were a menace especially a full veteran one. But in RA2 they were called Prism Tank
The mirage tank is a glass cannon, it has great speed and offense for a t3 tank, with a small aoe of splash damage near the initial target. It is also effective at ambushing rear line units by camoflaging and letting the opponents main tanks pass. However, it has very weak armour and unlike other t3 tanks, it cannot crush t2 tanks. This made it considerably weaker than the king oni and apocalypse tank, since the allies lacked an t3 tank that could deal damage and take damage, relying on assault destroyers to take the damage instead (this was fixed in uprising with the future tank)
The Tesla tank is an anti-surface tank that can mass clear infantry due to the fact that all tesla weapons kill all infantry in one hit (in normal circumstances, since hidden tank hunters and peacekeepers with their shield up will survive a few hits), it also performs well against t2 vehicles and even t3 vehicles in groups.
However, it is only available to use in 2 campaign missions only outside of mods like shock therapy, it has average health meaning an apocalypse tank will perform better at taking hits, and it is the most costly tank in the game, at $2200 in the one mission you can build it.
I know this is an old comment but Mirage tanks are also much faster, a bit cheaper, build faster, and my favorite part is they are the only tank in the game that is really effective vs infantry (without having to crush them obviously)

In final stage of Soviet campaign, you have 4 free Tesla tank. Put one in Crusher crain, it gives you 1.650$. Since the crushed unit gives 75%, which mean Tesla tank cost 2200$, 200 more than an Apocalypse, compared with Mirage 1600$, Tesla is quite weak for their cost
I'll tell you more, in the map editor you can put a factory where there are these tanks, and there will be the same price
Play the Soviet mission 8, capture Cherdenko's war factories. They produce Teslas instead of Hammers. Enjoy.

Tesla weapon deals 10x dmg on infantries which is crazy. Elite Tesla Tank attacks will arc on nearby units potentially can decimate a horde of infantry in this situation Soviet Apocalypse Tanks can advance without any fear of commando or AT Infantries with Tesla Tanks as backup.
Mirage Tank is veeeery sneaky. It works the best for human players, less effective on AI as they can react within less than a second.
Both are nice. But Tesla Tank is not buildable in vanilla skirmish.

Only appeared in some campaign missions of Soviets and Allies, you are given tesla tanks in the final Soviet mission, you can obtain them some more Allies or Soviet missions by spy's bribing and / or Natasha's pilot sniping ability.

One trick i do with mirage tank is i put it on silent mode and chrono sphere it to enemy location allowing me to see their movements.

You can actually get tesla tank( its not entirely a tesla tank but it has the tesla weapon)
Steps:
Build a hammer tank and a tesla coil
Switch hammer tank to its special ability
Hold ctrl while targeting the tesla coil
Wait for the tesla tank to destroy it
Sad that the Steel Ronin isn't a part of this.
Also if those were enemy units then the mirage tank might be able to clean them up faster imo...
