Going to see them in January, it'll be my third time after seeing them at ATP in 2010 and 2014, both times on my own. My friend bought me tickets for my 40th birthday and will be coming with me this time, it'll nice to share the experience with her. We've got tickets to see Fucked up the month after too, my two favourite bands in the world (both Canadian), so I'm feeling pretty hyped for 2022.

The whole thing, and the "rawness" of it all (key and tempo differences) feel so much like the inescapable emotions that Yanqui UXO evoke. No other sample in any other song ever recorded compares to that quote of "This is all a dream, a dream in death".....it has that ability to make you stop everything your doing and just reflect on what your ears just transmitted to your brain.....
I really missed these guys n the 90s I was to into dreamtheater to discover any other band. And it wasn't as easy as it is now to discover new music. This generation has no clue
As an aspiring post-rock musician it really is amazing how complex these songs are from a theory perspective, yet they seem so natural and just 'right.' I think part of the lushness comes from the sheer amount of members, meaning that you can have 5 or 6 melodies at once. Unreal.
Some of their stuff took a lot of adlibbing to coordinate, which is why for a band like this, the shows and live recordings are often so much better than the recorded media. They must be one of the greatest live acts I have ever seen (x4).
I just discovered this band while watching the series les papillons noirs, where " friendly fire" was used. Via Shazam I got to know them: they are fantastic! Gonna see/hear them next spring in Amsterdam !!!!
Especially that section between 16:20-18:00 ...takes my mind into a place completely different of the versions of studio version.....I can't even put a finger on it... probably never will. I'm ok with that.

It's called post rock and Godspeed are one of the best and most famous bands in the genre. All of their albums are worth checking out! Either Slow Riot or Lift Your Skinny Fists if you want more like this video.

yeah most of their stuff is totally adlibbed. i don't think they adhered to any theory, just blues scales and existential angst at humanity.
