The video looks at the lagotto romagnolo - how good is it really as a truffle dog?

Lovely! Impatient to see Jessie’s training sessions! Lagottos are really lovely dogs, either as pet or as working dogs.

Wonderful! I can't wait to see more videos:) We got our lagotto for truffle fun but mostly because of the character, and that she is very close to her family, us! And yes, she is the perfect cuddle friend, and also incredibly sharp and happy to hunt truffles! I love puppy videos and I can't wait to see more of your videos in general! Thank you for everything you for sharing. I love your style! Im a total fan :D

Jessie’s is a bad ass aka dream breed & dog for me I hope one day in the usa not many breeders here. Amazing story wish I was travailing the world be safe out there happy hunting. Very cool that you got Jessie from amazing person as well. Good to see others living life with there pets & helping one another. it's so simple to work together on all the things. Yet others with power are trying to take this all away from us this much change is not good at this speed. Much love & good luck with you endeavors. 😎❤

Congrats on your new puppy. Last year I got a Lagotto puppy. I have been a mushroom forager for many years and had hoped to go for truffle hunting. I live north of Seattle in Washington state and understand that truffles are here. Unfortunately, I've had to give up due to a freak accident. I'm hoping to try again once I'm better able to get around. I look forward to more of your videos showing all the progress with this little cutie!

Will be watching for more on jessie. I’m considering getting a lagotto for a pet, not a working dog, in maybe a year or so. But i do want to properly raise it to be obedient and comfortable (our current dog was a rescue and is difficult to train and anxious at times).
Please continue to include updates that address your thoughts on raising the breed outside of the work requirements. Thanks!

Hi, The white truffle season is our busiest time of the year and I haven't had as much time to spend with Jessie as I would have liked. Despite that she is coming along really well and there are a couple of videos in the pipeline on her progress. All the best for the new year!

Fantastic… I’ll be watching to see how you and your Lagotto progress…
You’ve got a few months and many years of truffling experience on me, but I’ll be looking to follow in your footsteps as we will be keeping one of our litter of 10 Lagotto pups and I’m keen to give her more focused truffle training than maybe I did with our 2 1/2 year old Lagotto Sally.
    Keep us updated 😃👍🏻

Hi, I have 3 working Lagotto’s. Great dogs, fantastic workers . However Loki, my dog will not work for anyone but me. My wife’s dog Alba works for anyone as long as she gets her piece of cheese or sausage and our last Bella is a bit more complicated and only works if she wants too.
I love them as a breed and they live very happily with my 50kg Doberman.
I am in France with truffle orchards.

I was very interested to see that you had a truffle pig. We used to have one too, she was called Wayne and enjoyed sitting in the passenger seat of the car, she was a lot bigger than your Betty however!

@@TheRealTruffleHunters Betty was bad tempered and despite being a”small” pig she grew to nearly 100kg!.
We could not put her in the car.
She died prematurely of natural causes a couple of years ago

Congrats with Jessie! She's absolutely adorable, I can't wait to see more of your adventures with her!
I have a few questions I hope you'll have time to answer some of them.
I love dogs, and I love the woodlands, and I'm eager to get started with truffel hunting. We live in Denmark, and considering getting a place in Portugal, to spend the winters. Do you have any knowledge on truffling in either of these countries?
Do you ave any advice on where to get a Lagotto mixed breed?
Do various truffel species fruit in different times of the year, or is "hunting seasom" always in July for all truffles?
    I'm thoroughly enjoying your videos!
    Greetings from Denmark,
    All the best,
    Chris

Hi Chris, Thanks! for your kind words! Unfortunately, I do not know anything about truffling in Denmark or Portugal. Looking at soil maps though, neither seem like great places as generally speaking the pH is too low. There have been some finds of uncinatum in Denmark over the years, but it is by no means widespread. There are many different species of European truffle and they fruit at various times of the year, these seasons tend to last around 3 to 4 months. As for the dog, what type of mix would you like the lagotto to be? Bye for now!

Howdy Julie. First I forgot just how small and cute Jesse was when you first got her. Next although I know I watched this video before I was surprised to see I didn't leave a comment. That's not much like me is it. Anyway I did see something I hadn't noticed before that is a big no no with bird hunting dogs and I feel important to all working, especially hunting, dogs. Never play the tug-O-War games. When ever training retrieving or pointing dogs this is one game that teaches something that you don't want to have to deal with later. The dog can come to think this is what you want it to do. Without realizing it your training the wrong lessons. One of the last videos you look like you have gotten her to drop the item in question. Play "fetch" but never again tug o war. It confuses the dog who so much wants top please you. Another mistake far to many folks make with large dog breeds is picking them up and giving them love and attention when they are puppies. Get down on the floor at their level and give them attention there. The dogs who commonly jump up on people learned it from when they were puppies. I know it's so Damm hard not to pick them up to your face when they are so cute and small but it's not fair to them when they grow large and can't understand why it's not allowed anymore. OK so I think I have made up for not commenting the first time I saw this. Have a great day and give Jesse a good couple of rubs from me.🐶🌤👍

      @TheRealTruffleHunters  ปีที่แล้ว

Vielen Danke for your concern but please don't worry, she doesn't hurt herself! At this age pups are naturally rather clumsy and will often take a tumble, it never seems to phase Jessie in the least.
