Don't be pulled in by worldly religion! True religion is the pattern of Christ which is saving souls and turning them back to God telling them to repent of their sins and be saved! Its saving souls from eternal damnation in hellfire and the pit! Saving souls from having to endure the second death! Revelation 21:8
The true church are the born again believers (people) who are expressing the kingdom of God: righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy ghost! You do not need a church building nor do you need a man or woman to ordain you or anything else to have a relationship with God and to be High Priest in Christ! The pattern to follow in this dispensation IS CHRIST JESUS our Lord. That's it! Everyone else who claims to be his should be reflecting HIS fruit in their pattern, their life. To be saved you MUST repent from your sins! And not have the mind to continue in them! Jesus will reveal the Father to you and God will come in and Holy Spirit will teach and comfort you! Your body IS the temple of the Lord! Your spirit IS the candle of the Lord! He makes an abode in you! You are His walking tabernacle, his lively stone. He will teach you the scriptures and his ways. I'm telling you this is all worldly religious piety and idolatry! Stay away and repent!
Jesus warned against this. All these schisms are unacceptable. In the body of Christ all is clear because you have a eye to see and ears to hear and when you become a student of the word yourself and live your life in prayer, worship, fasting, praise, sacrificing your body daily to God walking in salvation Repentant of sin, I'm telling you will SEE!
There are those who run ahead of God and haven't walked in the wilderness long enough with him by the Spirit to be purge and learn so when they come up zealously to engage one who is religious they cause harm to their own walk with God and the walk of that religious person because the religious one will continue to think themself wise when they aren't all because you become zealous didn't wait on the Lord to school you in the Spirit more because this man is indeed wrong in his way at how he regards the "church" and mortals men. Only Jesus should be lifted up! And as an elder may the Lord touch him and others like him because the kingdom is at hand.
Jesus didn't die to make any Church building! That is a lie from the pit of Hell! You who believe that Church as the way to God and ordination has the ONLY WAY to serve in ministry and all those other ceremonies that men make that have nothing to do with God or Jesus teachings and all that idolatrous praying to the "saints" and carrying items attributing powers of protections and healing to objects and ancestors and such good gracious you all need to REPENT!
YOU WILL NOT MAKE IT TO HEAVEN! REPENT FROM IDOLATRY AND STOP BEING BLINDED BY RELIGION AND OUTWARD EXPRESSIONS OF PIETY!
Learn the word for yourself so you know that you know and that these wolves can't shade you from the Lord voice and his lips!
Ask God to show you and teach you the scriptures! Don't read them in the flesh of your mind which is against God. Ask God in the name of Jesus to teach you the truth!
"Beware of the Pharisees and the Saducees in their long flowing robes who like all the praise and high seats...." find that scripture for yourself Jesus was against the religious!
He didn't die for a church building. He died for his bride, the church which are a people, a remnant, believers, born again of God's Spirit and renewed in their minds and hearts and living his word showing God approved by their works in faith and their loves being living testimonies spreading the great testimony, which is his testimony of Christ Jesus which is the beginning and ending of all scripture and you find him in it. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal this when you seek and you Repent!
You do not need a church building to find God.
Find God right now by just talking to him and seeking him no matter where you are or what you have done. Call on the name of Jesus. He will come!
      Amen! God bless!

      1 Tiimothy 2:5 KJV:
"For there is ONE God, and ONE mediator between God and Man, the Man Christ Jesus." Not Mary.
1 John 2:1- KJV "And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
      Hebrews 7 22-25 KJV:
"By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
      Hebrews 9:12 KJV:
"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us." We have been ETERNALLY REDEEMED by the blood of Jesus, once forever, we do not need the Mystery's priests waving their wands toward us for forgiveness they cannot grant.

"But this man, after he had offered ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOR EVER, sat down on the right hand of God"
      ROMANS 8:1-3 KJV:
"There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

      Debunking catholicism
      I'm more blessed than mary
      Proof = Luke 11:27-28
27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
In Luke 11:27 that random woman LITERALLY said Jesus your mother is Blessed, but are Lord Jesus LITERALLY said Believers are more Blessed than mary. Amen and Amen
      _________________________
      CHRIST alone
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
ACTS 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
There is only One Mediator between God and men, LORD Jesus Christ= 1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
Hebrew 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Hebrew 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Hebrew 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by One Spirit to the Father
      John 15:5
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

      Work of God =
John 6:28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
      _________________________
1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach
Paul allows bishops to get marry, but catholic church goes against paul.
Now these catholic will give a Verses from 1 Corinthians7 to say that paul gave the advice to stay unmarried. But they will not tell you that the same chapter they quote says 1 Corinthians 7:28 "even if you do marry, you have not SINNED". The passage literally says "young women, young men" and a bishop is supposed to be a Church ELDER. Mic drop
      _________________________
      Jesus said Matthew 23:9
9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
And also said Holy Father to Heavenly Father= John 17:11
11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
Jesus said call no one Father but still catholics call *pope holy father.
      Sad
      _________________________
Whenever a catholic argue about mary being the mother of God
Use this to defeat the argument.
Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
      Matthew 12:46-50
46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”.
Mark 3:35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
      John 19:26-27
26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. ( Jesus basically said John is the son of mary, and mary is the mother of John from that time onwards).
By the way sarah is the mother of all proof=Galatians 4:21-26.
      _________________________
We should not pray to apostles
      Romans 1:25
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
      Acts 10:25-26
25 As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man.”
      Acts 14:15
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,
      Revelation 19:10
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
      Revelation 22:8-9
8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."
      Colossians 2:18
18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
You cannot go to Father through saints nor mary, you can only go to the Father through Lord Jesus Christ= John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Holy Spirit intercedes for us=Romans 8:26
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
      And CHRIST as well=Romans 8:34
34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
      Hebrews 7:25
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
It's Christ and Holy Spirit who intercedes for us not apostles
      _________________________
      Apostles are allowed to marry,
      1 Corinthians 9:1-5
1 Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord? 2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
3 My defense to those who examine me is this: 4 Do we have no right to eat and drink? 5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
If Peter (peter is cephas read John 1:42) the so called "first pope" was married, why does the catholic church doesn't allow "pope" to marry?
      _________________________
The so called vicar of christ/ pope/holy father Peter called himself a fellow elder in 1 Peter 5:1, and as per the qualifications of elder in Titus 1:5-9 the elder is allowed to get married; then why does the "pope" is required to be celibate and catholic? ( when Peter was neither celibate nor catholic).
1)Peter was not perfect human nor was he a perfect disciple
2)He sank down while walking on water
3)Our Lord said to peter get behind me satan
4)Peter reject our Lord 3 times
5)Our Lord rebuked Peter for calling fire from heaven
6)Our Lord rebuked Peter when he cut of the soilders ear
7)Paul rebuked Peter for being hypocrite because he was acting different in front of Jews and different in front of gentiles.
      8) Moses messed up, and he was a important part of Bible ( that's why he never entered the promised land),
9)David messed up ( and he has the Holy Spirit),
      10)King Soloman messed up,
      11) Saul messed up and God regretted the decision (1 Samuel 15:10-11).
Hatrick (Saul then David then Soloman back to back messed up)
12)The apostles run away a day before Lord Jesus got locked up.
13)The early church messed up Rev 2:18-20, 1 Corinthians, Galatians.
      14) Apostle John when receiving Revelation worshiped an angel and the angel said "see you do not do that. Worship GOD" Revelation 22:8-9
If these great people could mess up, why do you think the catholic church wouldn't mess up.
      _
      Galatians 4:21-26
21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar- 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children- 26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Sarah is mother of all, Not mary
Also the Church has many name like Christians, Evangelists, Children of God, Believers, servents of God, bride of Christ, but not once the Church is called catholics
Changed the 10 commandments by deleting 2nd commandment, and dividing the 10th into 2 commandments. Also changing the real Saturday Sabbath to fake sunday sabbath...

@@cristoreinaevence8334 But then how come she is given relatively low "screen time" compared to other followers of Jesus in the Bible? For instance, there isn't really much scripture about how she spread the gospel. The book of Acts would have been a great place to tell more about Mary's life and behavior after Jesus' resurrection. She isn't brought up in any of the other writings following the letter to the Romans, and neither is she given much thought in the book of Revelation. To contrast, Paul's mission journeys are recorded somewhat detailedly, along with other acts of Jesus' followers like Peter (Acts ch. 3), or John, or Stephen.
If she is as important as some people say that she is (catholic people), then why isn't she brought up in the Bible in the same big proportions?

They value children as well as all ages and celebrate the Lord's supper very often, and will perform infant baptism if you desire. Excellent excerpt. Saint Paul did not even possess the written Gospels of the New Testament, yet he personally converted tens of thousands of pagans, and his legacy along with the legacy of Saint Peter, annihilated Roman paganism and set the precedent for the rest of Western history. Paul did all of this armed only with the knowledge of Christ and his physician-level understanding of the Septuagint. All of the disciples, whether they went to Ethiopia, southern India, or Europe, did not possess a physical copy of the New Testament or even just the 4 Gospels. Yet they laid the foundation for the largest religion in history. God bless

People can be friends with each other, love each other, and for this it is not necessary to belong together to some organization. The division of the church is not the division of any organization, it is a different worldview. The worldview cannot be mixed, there may be different opinions, but there can only be one truth. Study the question of what is the difference between the Catholic faith and the Orthodox, study the primary sources and maybe then you will understand for yourself that no unification is required, but you just need to accept the worldview that is closer to you. (sorry for my English, I used an online translator)

@@ВладиславВербицкий-б9п You have made some interesting points. But it’s not only a question about worldviews, it’s a question about authority and unity. Now worldviews, depending on your definition of worldview, definitely play a part in this topic, but Scripture and the teachings of Jesus the Christ are more crucial for this discussion. Jesus Himself established one Church, He never wanted it to be divided into so many schisms and denominations that it is today. If we aren’t united in prayer against the Devil and all of his evil spirits then our battles against temptation and sin will be much more difficult.
Obviously, culture has significant influence over how we pray and celebrate the Divine Liturgy and that is totally acceptable. However, overall we ought to all be unified under one Church -the Body of Christ -with one central figurehead which Jesus established and appointed for us since St. Peter the Apostle.
I am sure it is obvious that I am Roman Catholic, but I have lots of respect for the Orthodox Church and all of the various Eastern rites and Divine Liturgies such as St. John Chrysostom. I love how the eastern rites and Liturgies are rich in symbolism and tradition. I have many Eastern Catholic and Orthodox friends, and through them and other sources I’ve been learning more and more about Eastern worship. I believe that both sides (Eastern and Western Churches) have much to share and celebrate. But it would be better if all of us, while still retaining our unique differences, were United under one leader (The Pope) just like Jesus intended.

For it is evident that those men lived not so long ago-in the reign of Antonius for the most part-and that they at first were believers in the doctrine of the Catholic Church, in the church of Rome under the episcopate of the blessed Eleutherius, until on account of their ever restless curiosity, with which they even infected the brethren, they were more than once expelled” (Demurrer Against the Heretics 30 [A.D. 200]).
      *Augustine*
“We must hold to the Christian religion and to communication in her Church, which is catholic and which is called catholic not only by her own members but even by all her enemies. For when heretics or the adherents of schisms talk about her, not among themselves but with strangers, willy-nilly they call her nothing else but Catholic. For they will not be understood unless they distinguish her by this name which the whole world employs in her regard” (The True Religion 7:12 [A.D. 390]).
      *Augustine*
“We believe in the holy Church, that is, the Catholic Church; for heretics and schismatics call their own congregations churches. But heretics violate the faith itself by a false opinion about God; schismatics, however, withdraw from fraternal love by hostile separations, although they believe the same things we do. Consequently, neither heretics nor schismatics belong to the Catholic Church; not heretics, because the Church loves God, and not schismatics, because the Church loves neighbor” (Faith and Creed 10:21 [A.D. 393]).
      *Augustine*
“If you should find someone who does not yet believe in the gospel, what would you [Mani] answer him when he says, ‘I do not believe’? Indeed, I would not believe in the gospel myself if the authority of the Catholic Church did not move me to do so” (ibid., 5:6).

technically the torah, Apostles, and NT letters did exist before the founding of an official church organization. The church is believers of Jesus Christ alone and we all who believes in Jesus Christ as Lord are the body of Christ who saved us by grace-through faith. Faith is what saved the Old Testament people of God, as it is written in Scriptures; Jesus Christ sacrifice paid for for all our sins (past, present and future). @@connorjeffers5622 You are changing the meaning of the text to no longer say what it is appearing to say. We are not discussing poetic verses here, symbolism, and such. If this was the practice in real life it would be very confusing. Like you would say "there is Alex, the brother of such and such". The person would HAVE to ask you "is his mother such and such or are you saying he is the cousin of..?" And so things needed to be cleared every time. That and the fact that the Bible actually does use "cousin" in its text, such as in Lev 25:49, Esth 2:7, Jer 32:7, Luke 1:36, Colossians 4:10 making extremely inconsistent if what you say was the case. Why wouldn't just say cousins and use brothers instead which creates confusion?. Now you can have stepbrothers, spiritual brothers, blood brothers... "brothers" can also mean a type of relationship. But the text shows they were NOT in that relationship with Jesus even challenging Him, saying "go to the festival, make miracles there" in John 7 and ends with "his own brothers did not believe in him". Plenty of text that if we weren't even talking about religion and just reading it, everybody would conclude "yea, Jesus' brothers". But because of how we hold on to our personal preferences, we must change the text to fit our needs instead of letting the text change us.

@@connorjeffers5622 Let me add this, I have no problem if it turns out that yes, it's ok to pray to saints and Mary and such. The danger, I believe is not with choosing not to do so (unless you wanna bring forth evidence that says that if you don't you are doomed), the danger is with practicing it and then ending up being wrong. Because there are no verses talking about this, specifically with the icons of saints and Mary and praying to them. However, we do have text condemning acts of worshiping to anything else but God, to seeking counseling from anyone else but God, from the spiritual realm (see Saul consulting a dead prophet - it was real, but at the same time, that brought more condemnation to him).

Did God mean to leave us after the end of the world in this passage?
Is he abandoning us after the end of the world?
      Of course not!
It's just a language of scripture which isn't to be interpreted without church tradition and teachings. That's what protestant do and plant confusion and conflict.
Protestants interpret scripture individually and that's the reason you have so many denominations. Holy Spirit is God of unity not devision. Look what you've done to the world. I've been counting recently number of denominations of protestantism and went up to 3000 and the number is growing.
Orthodox Church is the Church founded by Christ at Pentecost on the 50th day of his resurrection and it's teachings are as holy as scripture itself.
Why? Because Orthodox Church created Bible. The Church chose the books which should be included in Bible.
Question - Why do we trust Orthodox Church to choose scripture to be included into the Bible and not trust the same church in Its traditions and teachings about Virgin?
      2. Tradition of appostolic church always taught that Holy virgin has remained virgine all her life. She and her husband had father/daughter relationship and brothers of the Lord were children of previous marriage.
"So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us"
We keep traditions and teachings of Holy Church which states that mother of God has never known any men.

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
This verse clearly demonstrates that the scriptures are all we need for salvation.
Yes, the church formed before the Bible was fully compiled, but that doesn't mean it has more or equal authority. If we know that the Bible is God's unfailing word, church doctrine that contradicts scripture should be discarded.

      (2 Thessalonians 2:15)
"These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth."
      - St. Paul in his letter to St. Timothy
      (1 Timothy 1:14-15)
Christ came to bring a Church with a living apostolic tradition
Protestantism doesnt hold the apostolic interpretation of scriptures. Sola scriptura becomes "sola my personal infallible interpretation" and is simply used to prop up pet theological innovations whether they be of Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Wesley, Spurgeon, etc. These men invented their own traditions of men. They did not recieve holy tradition from the living tradition of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by our Lord on Pentecost. The apostles were the first bishops of this Church.
Scripture doesn't exegete itself. Without the Church it's just various cult leaders yelling past one another. All these men claim to be "inspired by the Spirit" while preaching and teaching contradictory teachings.
      That leaves two options.
The Holy Spirit is some kind of nefarious trickster (blasphemy)

@@NavelOrangeGazer Catholics and Orthodox love to use 1 Tim 3:15 to support the idea that their own church is the true, infallible earthly source of spiritual knowledge. But like many verses they use to support their beliefs, it's taken out of context.
1 Timothy 3:15 is the end of Paul’s description of proper conduct for church members, including leaders. He nowhere mentions a unique power of these leaders to make doctrinal or interpretive decisions. Nor does he declare members of the body incapable of making those interpretations themselves. In fact, in verse 14 Paul specifically says that his written words are what define proper conduct, not the church.
Paul seems to be saying that the body of believers, “the church”-is the structure that holds up and holds forth the gospel to the world. For that reason, the conduct of the body and its selection of leaders are critically important.
This interpretation is strongly supported by Paul’s use of two Greek words, stulos and hedraioma, translated as “pillar” and “foundation.” Stulos means “pillar, column, prop, or support” and is found in the New Testament only here, in Revelation 3:12, and in Revelation 10:1. Hedraioma means “prop or support” and is found only in this verse. Both words come from Greek root words that imply something that stiffens, stabilizes, steadies, or holds. These are completely different words than what are used for other occurrences of “foundation” in English Bibles. For instance, Paul’s reference to Christ as our “foundation” in 1 Corinthians 3:11 uses the word themelios, which means “foundation of a building” or “initial and founding principles of an idea.”
Tradition, written or oral, that is given by an apostle is to be followed, yes. I strongly question tradition/beliefs that aren't verified as originating from the apostles because the church isn't infallible. It wasn't during the time of the apostles (which is why Paul wrote many letters correcting the church on how to act and what to believe) and it isn't now.
If you define apostolic succession as the apostles giving their pupils the authority to teach and preach as the apostles taught them, yes, I believe that (although we don't see the office of apostle passed down by laying on of hands, only bishop). If you define apostolic succession as certain followers the original apostles having the authority to add doctrine to the Christian faith, no I don't believe that because the Bible doesn't teach that. It teaches the contrary.
Paul writes to Titus in Titus 2:1 "But as for you, speak the things that are consistent with sound doctrine." He goes on to say what sound doctrine is "2that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience...exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works...11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.."
He ends the chapter with "Speak THESE things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you" (capitalization for emphasis). Nowhere do we see the apostles' successors having the authority to add to the established doctrine given to them by the original apostles.
Jude also echoes this thought. He writes, “Although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude 1:3). Notice the phrase “once and for all.” This makes it clear that the Christian faith was given from the original apostles to the believers as complete once. No other writings or teachings, no matter how godly the priest or elder or theologian are to be seen as completing the Word of God.
I find it comical that Orthodox and Catholics claim to be the original, one true church when they don't practice Christianity the way the early church did. The early church in Jerusalem “devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). Many Catholic and Orthodox beliefs stray away from the apostles' teaching.
Also, my home isn't the church. My home is heaven, as Paul writes in 2 Cor 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

@@electric336 We Orthodox practice the way the early church did. Luturgically.
The early church was episcopal (the apostles were the first bishops) and had a liturgy. Hence we find altars (its very funny to me that certain protestant groups have "altar calls" yet their churches have no altar).
Liturgical practices are an extension of second temple worship as the earliest Christian purified their jewish practices in light of Christ's revelation.
Iconagraphy is found in catacombs churches as well as second temple era synagoguges.
Iconagraphy being used as the literacy rate was quite low so teaching and instruction were done pictorally. The new testament Biblical canon was not settled until about the 5th century as there was debate over revelation for some time. Complete bibles are a medieval invention. Local churches in the ancient times would have been lucky to have one gospel and a few epistles.
The earliest divine liturgy we have is the liturgy of St. James written by the brother of the Lord.
There is simply zero evidence for a Reformed low church style worship in the early chuch. I'm sorry you've been lied to by people you've trusted. All groups that can trace back to the early church (Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Nonchalcedonian/Oriental, Church of the East) have liturgical worship and some form of epicsopacy. The early church had councils which were called to defend aposotlic doctrine. What you profess is a false invention that men like John Calvin and Ulrich Zwingli invented wholecloth in the 16th century due to their spat with rome. Ironically for a protestant it is a pure "tradition of men." Mormons as well as every other restorationist sect also claim to be "following the early church." Their claims are equally as bunk.
There is only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church that has not innovated its doctrine over time. The Orthodox Church.
You can endlessly proof text yhe scriptures the Orthodox Church handed down to you, it will get you nowhere.

“Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

      @rushthezeppelin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Forgive my ignorance but I've never seen an explanation for why the filioque and the Immaculate Conception are heresies. Also with purgatory I don't understand why you think that is heresy. The only part about it that is de fide is that it is a place/state in which one's last attachments to sin are removed. There is nothing dogmatic to say what it is like or the duration. It's my understanding that Orthodox do indeed believe there has to be a transition from this life to heaven if one's soul is not already perfected. With limbo, well that's always just been in the realm of speculation of what a just God does with souls that have the stain of original sin but have not lived long enough to commit personal sin.

I think this priest meant to say; “One Holy *Catholic* Church.”
      *Ignatius* *of* *Antioch*
“Let no one do anything of concern to the Church without the bishop. Let that be considered a valid Eucharist which is celebrated by the bishop or by one whom he ordains [i.e., a presbyter]. Wherever the bishop appears, let the people be there; just as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church” (Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 [A.D. 110]).
      *Tertullian*
“Where was [the heretic] Marcion, that shipmaster of Pontus, the zealous student of Stoicism? Where was Valentinus, the disciple of Platonism?
