PEÑA TEN 2142 RIAÑO MOUNTAIN AND MAMPODRE LEÓN / BURÓN BANK

- Having gone to our favorite base camp, the Shelter and Maraña Area where Carolina and Anselmo always welcome us with open arms.
We spent the night and the next day we went to Uña, a small town where finding a place for the car can be a handicap 😊 We left the car next to the bridge and the river ready for the return where we could cool off and dip our feet in its cold waters.
The route starts on the CL 635 road towards the port of Tarna and for a few kilometers, it makes you think about leaving the car or at least bringing the walkers up to a point, but well then this should not be done as it is a circular route and end up in town.
The first road section, then to the right along the Ventaniella path, a cattle track that goes uphill very little by little, is boxed in, leaving the Castiello rock and Cardosa mountain to the right and this area is very beautiful with a Beech forest to our left and several streams that discharge their crystal clear water.
Once we pass a narrowing, new pastures and prairies open up again, where we turn right towards the Alto de la Puerto de la Horcada, in search of our path and from here the difference in level begins to warm our legs and body.
We pass near some cabin, horses and cows, and we go in search of the milestones and path that is not very marked and little traveled, we do not find ANYONE, except in the distance cattle and shepherds we make the route in complete solitude.
The road here begins to get steep without compassion, we have advanced many kilometers and little difference in level, so we are going to have to catch a binge of meters in the last kilometers of ascent, getting very steep.
As we go up, the views brighten up our morning, already high up we manage to reach what would be the crest, the part of the edge that allows us to see the characteristic hole of Peña Ten that we could see from Peña la Cruz in the Mampodre Massif .
Passing the crest implies also passing through the community, having León and Asturias in places close at hand.... it does not have problems if we are careful because it is saved halfway up the slope without need unless you want to go on the edge.
A further two hundred meters will take us to the summit where having beautiful views of the Asturian and Leonese area, the show is served.
Some crossing ahead if the slope is wet we must be very careful when walking on the grass that can be slippery and needless to say not snow, this must be valued well because the slope of the slopes is very important.
We leave the crest and jump down the Vegadona, the first section is made of stones and ground to support our feet well, we cross the meadows and the hollow of some other hill to reach the Arcenorio and Rio Carcedo slopes, if we want jam somewhere we can do it.
We have a good chunk left along the track, where we pass through an area of Beech trees that will give us freshness, some meadows and fountains close to the town of Uña where we will find the car and the river to cool off if that is the case.

Vamos ese Anselmo como te gusta la imagen y el enredo montañero... pues que sepáis que a nosotros también nos encanta estar por allí y veros, lastima la kilometrada que toca, ja, ja pero que nos quiten lo bailado de todas las veces que hemos estado por ahí de momento y que esperamos toquen muchas muchas mas. Muchas Gracias por tu comentario y nada otro chisme si te animas con la cámara, eso si luego tiene jaleo enredar con el video resultante, es lo que menos gusta, pero lo que aporta un potencial importante a estas cámaras, en tus manos harías maravillas. Gracias Luis por tu comentario también aportándonos apoyo y valiosa motivación. Es verdad que aunque pequeños son cada día un poquito mas montañeros, mucho camino por recorrer les que da aun, pero si ellos quieren todo este camino que ahora de nuestra mano hacen, les será de gran ayuda en el futuro para seguir disfrutando de la naturaleza con respeto, amor y seguridad. el banco sirve hasta para montar un chiringuito ahí arriba, ja ja… Otra buena zona para visitar y conocer y nada aportando un poco de cacharreo con el GPS que siempre viene bien. Mucho cuidado con los buitres que son muy exquisitos, no te creas que se comen a cualquiera por muy muerto que vayas... 🤣 Un abrazo amigo.
