Also I’m so psyched that Aviations blew your mind, even if it wasn’t totally your “thing.” I had debated sending you that track for a while now. But I was so fearful it would be too proggy for your tastes. I am absolutely over the moon for that band right now. They’re sublime. And yes, that song is a masterpiece, for the record 😆
Fun fact: Dayseeker and Silent Planet have been like best friends even before any of them signed a deal. The third band belonging to this bromance is I, Of Helix. They all featured on each others albums.
Aviations actually released another 11 min song last year called Coma, which I feel is way better than Outliers. It feels more cohesive and has a better pacing to it (for me at least), but as you mentioned is very classical music like and can be difficult to grasp at first listen. Anyways it is one of the best songs I've ever heard and the album Luminaria is a masterpiece on every aspect.
Dayseeker are criminally underrated. Rory is an incredible vocalist and their drummer Mike is a subtle beast. If you haven't heard 'Burial Plot', highly recommend. Softer but incredible.
Brilliant Silent Planet song. My favorite of them. Agree, a masterpiece. Very exciting and varied track.. Dayseeker and Alphawolf very strong singles too.
With the Silent Planet track, the clean vocalist’s name is Thomas and he left the band before Superbloom had been released due to having a child and wanting to commit to his family. That’s why you hadn’t heard him before, if you want more of him I highly suggest most of the Silent Planet songs from their previous album Iridescent. P.S. long form vids are fantastic! 🤘🏻
i’m personally loving these new reactathon vids steve also dreamstate by dayseeker has been out for nearly a year and a half now and was released a single for the previous album so i find it interesting that they are just now releasing a vid for it
Glad you liked Trilogy so much! Alex Camarena, their drummer, is incredible. Such a nice guy too. To give you a suggestion from each of their previous albums I would say Northern Fires from When the End Began, Panic Room(very popular) or Understanding Love As Loss(shows a bit more of all of the members talents) from Everything Was Sound, and Native Blood from The Night God Slept Redux(much better quality recording than the original album). Hard to really just pick one. 😂 looking forward to seeing you discovering more of their music!
Love the new format, more music is always better! I really loved Silent Planet's latest album, so it was fun to hear something else from them. I also liked that song by Moodring. As for Aviations, that song was great and right up my alley, there were moments that reminded me of The Contortionists (specifically their song Language I: Intuition). If you haven't checked them out I'd definitely recommend them - they're this sort of progy, djenty metal group but they keep their songs under 10 minutes and / or break them up into movements.

The things that can be created with AI are impressive, but AI will never be able to replicate the 'feels' that the human voice imparts. That brief, and (to me) rather painful snippet was a perfect example of what AI cannot do. Love this format - so many rabbit holes opened up...

Great to see Aviations on the list! The retrospective version is a little more refined, and while it's a classic Aviations track I'd argue they've got better at making songs leaner while still having their personality, warmth and innovative ideas. As others have said their new album has tracks that might be more your jam. The epics are great but there's some real variety on there too (as Metalbirb would probably attest 😂).
