Wow, good for you Drew not using credit cards or buying things you can’t afford! You are such an inspiration to young people today. I know a lot of people that have gotten mortgages that couldn’t eventually afford to pay for their homes because they were over extended! I have done my due diligence in teaching my daughter the same. You can get a mortgage as long as you have money in the bank to pay off the home. Your parents taught you well Drew! Your home is absolutely gorgeous!

So fun to see two good friends supporting each other's projects and it is amazing how much you both have tried so many DYI's and learned how to really renovate over the past years! I especially love how you both respect old homes and find the positive with refurbishing instead of demolishing!

I just wanna take a moment to say this video podcast was an absolute pleasure to listen to the entire way, as a long time subscriber of drew and a recent follower of macenna, I loved knowing more in depth bits and pieces about the evolution of both of your houses, and as a creator too I totally understand what you meant by « we don’t find how to incorporate these elements into our normal videos » and I have to say this podcast was the best way to do it! I truely think some moments could’ve bothered me to watch in a 20min video on a specific theme, but on a 1h podcast I love it because I know I’m not gonna miss anything and I can also do two things at the same time while listening!
Please do more of these! And this duo is amazing I love your personalities both so much 😊🥰
I also wanna add that it was super interesting to hear why drew stopped his fashion channel and Instagram, and to get more of the past life like with his business and macenna talking about her corporate job! 10/10 loved this podcast so much guys!! ❤
Wow it is so interesting to hear how many people judged your first renovation decisions. I have always thought that you communicated so clearly what you wanted to do and what it is now is what I expected from what you imagined back then. But maybe my brain just works the same way yours did 😂
It was clear to me too, and I do think they have done a pretty nice job, never the less I would have done certain things different. I was one of the people that was against taking away the foyer in texas cottage. But I do understand why macenna did it. Where I am from you will never see a front door entering directly in the livingroom space. There is always a closed foyer or hallway first. So I was realy exited to she an american built like that. But I understand how American built and needs work so I do not blame her. Still think it is a shame dough, I thought it was georgious.
They built such great things without the sane tools bc a screwdriver hammer drill square, etc have been around… combine those with experience and knowledge and they can do quite a lot more than we can with our power this and that. They sweated more and worked long hours. They worked in teams. Love your spaces; thank you both!❤
It’s funny to hear that about all the comments that you were “ruining” the cottage, MaCenna. Some people are really resistant to change or new ideas. But you weren’t creating a museum or an exact reproduction. The layout of the cottage as it was when you purchased it was not very conducive to modern living. You maintained the spirit of the old layout quite creatively, actually. I love the way you inserted the salvaged parts of the entrance where the house transitions to the bedrooms. Kinda like that young lady you mentioned not trusting the process. But ….. everyone being different is what makes the world go round. Hopefully they all have been converted and are now as much in love with it as the rest of us are. Very fun to hear the behind the scenes tidbits. I found you through Drew and am so glad that you two are so generous with one another. We all benefit by it 😊❤

I think back in the day especially during the Craftsman time there were workers that specialized in certain things and making them special. Btw I love Craftman houses!
They did the detail work like different tiles in fireplaces.

Since you both love older things, GO to that home which is being torn down and see if you can get some of the things from it!! Try to rescue mouldings, fireplace surrounds, lighting fixtures. You may be able to do that before the whole place is ruined to the ground... How sad! I love old, too. Love your talks!!! Congrats to y'all for your new homes!!

Fun to see you two together! Show idea: when you do the Cottage landscape and Drew does his, would love to hear an episode on designing your outdoor spaces from a blank slate.
That both of you took a place that was unwanted in its previous condition and are turning them into these glorious spaces that honour their history. Other episode ideas: how and when you salvage materials, or researching vintage styles and how you use historic details in an updated way.
I always enjoy your chats.. it feel like you really relate. It’s fun, informative, gives me courage to try things I normally would have never tried before.. my favorite two guest so far… bring mom and

the quality of this video is so much better than the other ones
1. i like that you used 3 cameras instead of 2
2. the quality of all the cameras are so good. everything is crisp. compared to when you only used 2 the second one used to be of bad quality

This was so fascinating, it felt like 10 minutes rattan than just over an hour! You also continued the things that made that entrance room in your cottage throughout your house you change the wall structures, but you re-used everything and the theme is followed throughout every inch of that house, including all of those windows above the doorways that you open to let the air circulate. Sorry I’m having a total brain fart here. I can’t remember the name it’s on the tip of my tongue but I don’t know I can’t remember it lol. You took that space, kept the integrity and the historical vision of the spaces in that house and expanded them, but following through the whole house, keeping the history while updating a wee bit. Honey, you did awesome and Drew is too. I have learned to trust both of your processes and because of that my style has grown. Thank you both.

So fun to hear both of you talking about your new homes and reno's. We lucked out the same way as Drew when we bought our house. The pictures of it were so dark and dreary, we thought we were going to have to replace the carpet and repaint, and it turned out it was new carpet and paint, but just looked old in the pictures!
