Love this radio so much, that I bought another. Great sound for such a small size radio. Used it for FM music. Great rechargeable battery enclosed with it and digital tuning is easy to do. What is great is its small size that I can easy hold it in one hand. Nice telescoping antennae that easily folds up. So light weight it can be packed for a day trip, vacation or around the house. Great FM reception. Copped both for 16 bucks a piece with the frequent sales on Amazon. Only thing wrong is no bluetooth, but that is at least 10 to 15 bucks more
Amazing that you made a full video about FM radio and mic SD card recording, but somehow managed to wiff on the camera shot that should show us the button sequence to record/then playback
@@RobbieStrike thanks for posting, but he never demonstrated playback of recorded radio or mic. My device appears to record exactly as shown in that video. Problem is that long pressing "rec file" (0) button , only gets me this message "can not find record"
Robbie - Thanks for the video. I truly appreciate that you took the time to actually use the radio before you shot the video. What size TF card did you use for recording? Is there limit of GB's it can't handle. I'm not shooting for the moon, I just don't want to waste money buying cards that won't work.
i have a mini 32gb card. it records hours of radio. Also has i input jack so I can record my satellite radio programs and take them with me. The thing that sucks with most sw radios is you cant listen to them in a Car very well :(
One advantage of the Prunus over V115. While both radios will allow you to Direct-Entry a frequency into the radio. The v115 will not allow you to Save that frequency. In order to Save Memories with the v115, you must do a Scan. WIth the Prunus, you can save your Direct-Entry Frequency as a Memory. The Prunus will also Auto Save Memories during a Scan (same as v115). This feature difference is really the main advantage of the Prunus.
***@Robbie Strike - Hi :) QUESTION PLEASE - I am used to recording my mp3 audio music files onto a thumb drive and then plugging into a mp3 player or computer to play. How do you record to the TF card electronically like the thumb drive? Not sound waves recording but direct line-in to TF card to record them? I do not have a tablet etc. Just a desktop PC Thanks. :)***
I will give you my point of view on this radio because I have tried a few in my life. At the level of the loudspeaker, it is a very clean sound with a lot of bass. There is also this function reading and recording in MP3 which is revolutionary. It is still quite pleasant in terms of handling and settings. On the other hand, if you are like me passionate about picking up fairly distant radio stations in AM and especially in FM, you will be super disappointed. In this radio, there are several problems. The LCD part gives a lot of noise on a device with a very average signal. Moreover, by dismantling the radio in function and removing the LCD, you can see it. Another problem for FM is the length of the antenna, which is really very short and too much in my opinion for correct fm wave reception. I also tried to extend it with another antenna of the same type placed end to end and you immediately notice the difference. I also think that the AM ferrite antenna is of poor quality, not to mention the SW reception which is frankly pretty bad. We can not compare for example with my tecsun PL990 but it is ten times the price it is also true. I, who found a lot of faults with the XHDATA D808 which I just got rid of, there it is worse. Imagine that I made the mistake of buying the Prunus J-401 today because I had read in the com that it had an improvement! well it's even worse because nothing in AM on this one and FM a disaster. I would like to have answers and especially your opinion but for me it is a nice radio for the MP3 side but for the rest nothing to hope for extraordinary
Geat video Robbie! Consider doing a Saterday night live stream Where you host a band scan on a shortwave radio. I have many portables, but I have had a table top Icom for a long time for Dx and bandscanning.
The screen on my unit has gone blank. It lights up, but no textual info shows. It's too good to toss out, but too hard to use without the screen working and telling where you are with freqs and mp3 playbacks. If anyone knows a hack for jolting the screen back into functioning, post it here. ...greatly appreciate any suggestions....
You say you can record with a cable into line in , could you please show how to do this as I'm having trouble, Is the music supposed to come out of the retekess speaker while plugged cable from other radio headphone to line in
I just plug in the source and it automatically goes to {line in} and then press the REC button! But when I plug into the source it has a audio feed playing!
I feel kinda dumb here.....I tried three of these and was pumped to get this because of the fact that it was a recorder as well as a player along with a radio. It sounds pretty good for its size and price. But on none of the units I tried did the Mode button work as it should have. It never went to the files It only worked for Hold when long pressed. Has anyone else had this happen,or was there something real simple I was doing wrong?
Great Question, I have a older and newer one of these units one unit i just press and hold mode and it goes to my mp3's. But the one with a newer firmware you have to press the 0 rec file button to get to the recordings. Hopefully that helps!
@@RobbieStrike Thanks a lot. I've got another one coming,as I've decided to give it one last try. Your comment should help. If this one doesn't work out,I'm going to try the Prunus J401. Looks like it's the only other unit in its price range that plays AND records MP3s
@@RobbieStrike Hey--Thanks for the tip. The one I just got works just like you said. I hit the 0 rec file and it records just fine. This one's a keeper!
@@richardfranciscone3392 Glad that worked for you. It must be a firmware update in the newer ones. But it does not save where I left off on mine. I have to press the pause button but on my older one I just shut it down and it remember where I left off!
hi, i bought v115 a few days ago. radio is good but when I put sd card screen says WAITING... 1 seconds than screen says CAN NOT FIND DEVICE. I used 2gb and 16gb sd cards. both of them is working on laptop and on my dslr camera. What can I do? please send me a solution
If I get one of these I'll be able to plug in my Grundig Satellit 750 and record shortwave from a better reciever, yet have a much more portable radio too.
I have one and it's a great radio for FM and for playing MP3 on SD card. It has a remarkable sound for such a small radio. OTOH it's a disappointment for SW listening. It's reasonably sensitive but harmed by internal RFI (I presume it's the LCD display) which drowns signals. It can be heard on this video. Also its DSP chip tends to cut off faint signals too much. MW not a topic here in France, this band is dead.

A newer version of 2018's v115 is the Prunus J-401. I have both. Though the v115 is older, it's still a good one.
I mainly use them to play Podcasts from the MicroSD card. Though, the AM/FM/SW gets used.
