Well, it's certainly not tightly congested and crowded like Manhattan. I like cities where you can still breathe. But where are the restaurants and bars? Seems like just a lot of office buildings
@@snakeblizkin9930 To an extent probably yes. But what I've seen from other middle and small-sized cities before the pandemic in the US, it much looked the same - and that's no people on the streets in mid-day!
Heh... It’s a city that was once almost a million people, but is now around 250,000. It’s very sad because it’s actually a pretty nice town, if you can handle the winters.
@@afcgeo882 Now that's the really sad part, the staggering depopulation! Does anyone discuss this in the US? Or is it everything left to the corporatocracy to dictate which city is to grow and which to die-off? And which is to be thrown on the side of the road, after it falls out from grace? Are there any social policies to keep people where they live? It can't be all the law of the jungle...
@@essential.technology The de-population of the rust belt is a well-known thing. This is especially known in Upstate, NY where the cities along the Erie Canal were at their peak in the early 20th century. Albany, Schenectady, Utica, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo, but also Binghamton in the Southern Tier are all empty shells of once very thriving cities. They were all mining or heavy industries cities. There are numerous policies, but they all fail because the industries have left or collapsed. The harsh winter climate is also not for many. That said, if there were well-paying jobs, people would come back, and with that, tax revenues and beautification. As is, the jobs that do exist have people with money living in the suburbs, while the very poor live in the city slums.
