This "Sonic Movie 3 trailer" style music video fan art is the culmination of about 7 months of sleepless asset creation; Overloading the brain on totally unknown software, and a truckload of trial and error. **Remember to right click the play button and hit loop to jam out on the track.
This is a Sonic Movie style fan art re-imagining of how Robotnik (Jim Carrey) trained Metal Sonic to be one of Sonic's most formidable enemies. This is a re-render up to 4K to update the trash quality of the original video's visuals. Still far from perfect, especially the audio. I am first and foremost a professional 3D sculpt, modeling, and texture (+shader) artist and by no means am I anything close to an animator or filmmaker or audio tech. There are broken things everywhere, the pacing is off places and yes I was too worn out to deal with every small miss. Prior to starting this project I had never seriously taken an effort to try and actually rig let alone animate a character. Lots of mistakes and tons of valuable lessons were learned. Technical details:
As a solo artist, in the interest of time I used every resource possible to quickly create the assets I could not manage to make the time to do entirely from scratch. 7 months of modeling and kit bashing a few premade/bought assets to create the world and characters. My career path is character focused so much of the bespoke hand-made work centered around the characters and vehicles while kit bashing bought assets primarily to quickly make the parts of the environment which I had not already made on my own since the previously popular 3.3Million views Stardust Savior video project.

• Stardust Speedway Present Track and Exterior (A re-skin )
• Robotnik’s Flight Suit and fat version Jim Carrey head sculpt (scan head data was used)
• Prototype Metal Sonic (updated from last project)
• Hyper Metal Sonic (the blue variant)
• Robotnik’s Egg Pod/ Egg Mobile

All Characters were rigged and skinned using Reallusion Character Creator 3. Animations made with iClone 8 (or direct edits in Unreal).
Facial beard and groom assets were hand edited from CC4 hair pack stuff tied to their facial rig.
Of the animations used in the video half of them or less were sourced or started from iClone store assets, AccuRig library, or entirely retargeted Mixamo inside unreal. Everything else from motions and poses that did not exist or were not perfect to use as is were either made manually in iClone or manually FK edited directly in Unreal's animation viewer itself - no control rigs, did not know how to make one.
Blueprint nodes were used to animate Metal Sonics 2D eyes look and blink cycle.
Music:
Taking the original North American version Stardust Speedway Present level sound track from Sonic CD (NA OST), I used LMMS software to build up a new beat and toss in some other instruments. The goal was to take a classic Michael Jackson song and retrofit it into an official Sonic game music track to play up the real lore surrounding Jackson’s music influencing much of the music from the 90s era Sonic franchise games. Taking inspiration from remixes in the style of Yuzo Koshiro (a.k.a. @Yuzoboy) I tried my best to chop up, pitch change and stretch the MJ Classic “Speed Demon” (Epic Records) to fit into a catchy loop. If you listen close you will hear hints of another theme song included from a popular 90’s era Robot action film you may know very well. I recommend right clicking over the play button and setting it to loop.

That Metal Sonic design is so creepy and I love it for that.
I like how Eggman and Metal Sonic form a sort of father-and-son relationship here.
The Terminator Sonic is still looking good. I see it seems to have been cleaned up a bit.

Thanks! I didnt edit the models at all tho other than left robotniks head gear off after portfolio renders lol.
All I did was drop the project into UE5.1, and after many GPU crashes found the right movie render sequence settings to bootleg 4K resolution (I dont have 4k monitors) and stop Robotniks cape from doing physics freakouts in my hella mid 3060 lol.
AE to combine the pngs with sound and thats it. No brush up work as this project is already way old. Moving on to the next thing (Shadow) after my main job stuffs done.

Thanks yeah I tried to make it clear I am not an animator at all. And I do not really do sound design cause the audio is still trash. Can only do so much solo, not trying to pickup any extra assistance either for the time being.

Yeah all the characters vehicle and exterior. The lab interior was a Stone Mason kit bash but not one made for Unreal so it took a lil conversion work to PBR.

I hope thats the twist. Shadows a frenemy and they gotta take down Metal. Otherwise Paramounts disrespecting the entire game origin story and just flying off the cuff from Sonic Adventure 2. Which would be disrespectful af seeing as how all of the second film was def Sonic 2 through S and K storylines.

That sounds fine as long as you definitely give my channel a shout or let folks know where the original content came from in some way I'm ok with it. There are countless accounts out here trying to literally erase my watermarks and re upload the mess even sometimes copy part of my descriptions at times. I’m still trying to find this version of speed demon by mj can someone tell me which version this is?
Uh... its "MY" version of it lol mish mash of Stardust Speedway Present NA OST and snippets of Speed Demon. You wont find it anywhere else. This is the whole song. Stardust music was looked on Genesis and I have used literally all of the vocals from Speed Demon in one snippet basically. Left click and hit play on loop to hear it on repeat if you like.
