Almost all humour is better when bounced off a straight man, this is a very well known rule of comedy. Guillermo (and to some limited extent Collin) used to fulfil that role in the first season or two. But now that Guillermo is having more and more wacky adventures himself, somebody else is needed to be a counter point that accentuates everything else. The guide does that perfectly by playing the straight man, and the voice of reason, while being genuinely quirky in her own right. It's not that she has the funniest lines or the best jokes. But she makes everyone else funnier by providing a reference of sanity (within vampiric norm) and competence. The Djinn sort of did the same thing in the last season too, though in a much narrower and plot oriented way.
The first 2 episode premiere was really good & worth the hype. I am really happy that even season 5 is as good as 1st one & i hope it stays good for all future seasons it gets

This character is a welcome addition. Because she’s funny-AND because it’s ABOUT TIME for a 2nd MAJOR FEMALE CHARACTER (3rd if you count the doll) among all those men. (This show was starting to look like “The Smurfs”, with just that one token woman!) More women please!
I find the Guide endearing, if nowhere near as funny as the others. Maybe that's the point, but she still feels a bit out of place in the mix. That said, I can't wait for the premiere tonight!
They better do something different with Guillermo this season, because this abusive relationship isn't funny or compelling anymore. The ending of Season 4 was infuriating and Guillermo just goes back? I'm on episode 2 and I have hopes to watch more. That being said, this show is just spinning it's wheels. As far as first looks go, Season 5 feels like a soft reset (retreated / retreaded). I hope they wrap it all up this season, because I don't think there'll be a season 6 (at least not for me that is).
when baby colin reverted back to old man colin i was so disappointed. that was the best arc of season 3 and original colin is just so awful as a character

The Guide Lady reminds me of my Romanian grandmother when she became angry at my grandfather - which was quite often. Kristen Schall is amazing.
