Van Morrison you are too good at what you do so well: making and singing beautiful songs. I'm loving listening to and watching older videos of his career. You deserve all the success you've achieved. Congratulations once again, from this fan of yours.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍🤗♥️
Four songs from A period of transition, his new album at the time... Dr. John was the co producer, so the music had a funky feeling... I prefer when Van plays with a small group instead that a big band, because the music is more bluesy and groovy...
Ian Hunter said 'There was Mick before Dylan and Mick after Dylan'. Even if you didn't know the date of this, it's obvious from Ronno's playing that this is very definitely after Dylan.
@@barrysokolowski3778 Ian was pretty neutral about it, so I'd say an observation, tbh. Mick's playing here's a good example of what he meant - it's much lighter, more considered and low key without any of that spikey attack he used to use. That's the result of learning a different way of doing things from his time with Dylan. Ronno loved playing for Dylan - pity he was kept off-stage for a lot of the 1976 Rolling Thunder gigs. 'Dylan got lead-itis' said T-Bone Burnett.
Hey Luke, thanks for the reply. I don't comment all that much on TH-cam. So when I saw the notification of your reply I had to click on it to see what it was before I remembered commenting. About the Dylan tour, do you mean he was kept towards the rear of the stage? Or do you mean he didn't play every show? That would be odd because he added a lot to that show. Every video I ever saw for that tour I saw Mick playing. Especially in the movie. I do know one thing about this Van Morrison concert video. Ian loved it when he saw it. I guess he liked seeing him playing any number of styles. If you search around long enough you will find Mick playing with a lot of "odd" types of musicians. I don't mean odd in a bad way. I think it was true that Mick just loved playing. Which is most likely why he never achieved the wealth he deserved. Despite having so much talent. I guess after the Bowie experience he got used to playing for more than just money. Such a shame he didn't make the money he should have from his time with Bowie. He was responsible for so much more just being the guitar player in The Spiders. Bowie was struggling for a long time before he started working with Mick. Oh well, money isn't everything and it is sad that it happened after he passed. But it is good to see he is getting more recognition for his talents now than back in the day. Good chatting with you.
@@barrysokolowski3778 Yes, Indeed, Barry - Mick played with so many different people in so many styles. I think it was the experience of working with Dylan that opened him up to all those different possibilities later. Unfortunately, while Mick played on all of the 1975 Rolling Thunder gigs, he only did a few of the 1976 ones - 'he was on the bus, they just didn't let him on stage', said T-Bone. No one seems to know why. A great shame!
Very true ,they must of had jet lag or something, for all the talent on that stage ,and being filmed they couldn't have put on a more boring stage performance. I didn't expect Van to kneel down in front of Mick when he was soloing ,but he could have put some life into this gig . Still was cool to see
It can't get better than this!! Two of the most brilliant musical artists of all time Van the Man and Dr. John together.
I like this years of van the man. Hard vocals, ronson on guitar and dr john behind..does not get better than this . I believe!

Marvelous Van, Dr. John, Ronson. Excellent groove as always. Thanks for sharing. ❤️🎶
Van Hooke always sounds great playing with Van. That Musikladen set from 74 with him backing up Van is excellent also. Thanks for uploading this.

1000 thanks 😀😀😀
Hear Judee Sill in the melody and arrangement of The Eternal Kansas City, though of course it's Van all the way.

Coooooll!!!
Very good. Love it!!!
Thank you for posting. Fantastic quality, and what a band! The lame audience definitely doesn't appreciate what they're witnessing.
Whoever had the idea to call mick Ronson nailed it. What a tight funky band
@Hound19745 might be a cultural thing, seems a fair amount of Euro audiences from that era appreciate the music in a much more subdued manner.
@@buckodonnghaile4309 yes, they listen, then show their appreciation at the end of the shows
Many TV audiences are offered tix with no idea who is playing...
Thank you for this

Wow wow wow ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Mick the Quick far away from Bowie ! 😅😮😊
Period of Transition almost in its entirety, an album I got into in my late teens after punk's fury began to wane.
done with punks original wave after a year, interesting
ronno
He starts the outro of 'hungry for your love' at the end of the eternal k.c.
And then they begin the reharmonization
Wow
I saw this years ago - thanks for the entire concert
Amazing!
Appreciate this video 😊
Awsome daul 😅😅😅😅
Van Morrison began losing his hair at that time period right
Van Morrison ain't got nothin on the Dr. RIP Dr john
1964 - 2024AD
Pretty cool, but you can hear and see they simply weren’t having fun.

@MoabHale9215He’s never been a dynamic performer? I guess all one can say is to each his own.
