  • The new betta is a wild species called Mahachai betta.
    I’ve been feeding the tank with a little bit of Tetramin flakes each day until several days before getting the betta. The reason was to "feed" the empty tank for the bacteria and eventually the plants after the bacteria broke down the flakes. One day before getting the betta, I did 75% water change. When doing the water change, I added almond leaf extract water. I just boiled the almond leaf and use that water to add to the new water.

      TheBritlabrat oh hush it, seldom does any fish live in captivity in a mirror environment. Most live live in condition exceeding their natural habitat. In regards to betta yes there are probably some crimes being committed. Note betta territory is .13^3’ up to 3^3’. Basically 1 gallon to 22 gallons depending on how boisterous they are and opportunity. It’s also know many betta choose not to maintain large territory and commonly a few gallons of space. Yes a planted environment is best but these fish are extremely adaptable.

    • @1014p
      @1014p 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Zep Tepi ok I extensively research territory size. Rice patty is among many areas they live if you even looked into it. Yes try can move around and never said they don’t. Also never talked about them fight. Note the territory size I mentions. It’s quite large. A few feet deep is well with 2’ high or wide. Read a bit better next time maybe. Nothing I said was wrong.
      Also if you look into the reason shipped in tiny bags or the little cups you’ll find your wrong there also. Yes if the staff doesn’t tend to changing out water at least every other day issues will occur. Did a water test experiment to see on that as well. My Petco tends to them with very few losses and the local Petsmart as well.

    This is one of the coolest aquascapes I've seen in awhile. This was really enjoyable to watch. How creative to use sweet potatoes roots as flora for your betta. And when they get too big you can plant them and have them for yourself! That's one happy little Betta 😊 thanks for doing this. I can't wait to see more!

    Just want to let you know you have one of the best channels on TH-cam. Always superb content. As far as his name goes l think it should be Horus, since he’s young and the King of his domain.

    This makes me so happy! They are my favorite fish. I had one a couple years ago named Poseidon. I kept him in a small 5 gallon tank for about 2 years. I used to love to hear him crunch his food when he ate it was so cute. He only lasted me those 2 years. One day he stopped eating and couldn’t pass his food. He was basically constipated. I did so much research to try to save him but it didn’t work in the end. I wish I had the time and patience to do something like this. You’re so smart and this channel is one of my favorites.

      @Starwolf130 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      sammmi _kayy it’s a good size for a betta. The tank that’s being used in the video is a 4.5 gallon, and you can obviously see that it’s got lots of space for the lil guy. What would be wrong and a very small tank would be those 1 gallon tanks people put them in.

    You can eat the sweet potato leaves. Hahahahah. In my country we eat it. You can sauté it with garlic and onions or you can blanch it and just dip it on soy sauce.

    I love drawing from mythology for names so here's my picks.

    Mazu : Chinese goddess of the sea
    Pontus: primeval good of the sea and father of fish

    Thinking back on my childhood, our family fish tank was just a clear box full of plastic and water. THIS. THIS is what having a fish should be like. You're not owning the fish, you're taking care of it and providing for it. This dude spent 20+ days growing the perfect lovely environment for this one fish. I find that so beautiful and profound.

      There's nothing natural about a fish tank anyway. Bettas are pretty hardy so I'm not sure how a lot of other fish would do since water parameters can fluctuate easily in a "natural" tank

    • @peterpaul8698

      Get rid of your filters and declorinator. You only need potatoes.

    • @user-hr9oz8xv6n
      @user-hr9oz8xv6n 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bettas breath from the surface. That's why he kept the duckweed from covering the center. They gulp air.

    • @rachaelflores3810
      @rachaelflores3810 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I start with the filters and stuff, but I'm slowly adding more plants, and plan to expand the tank by removing the center undergravel filter column which is really annoying and takes up too much space. Got plans to gently filter with another method that isnt so huge and making the surface move so much (even now its supposed to be really gentle flow but it's still too much imo). More plants for me! love em
