    We just returned from our first trip to Japan two weeks ago. We did the following and loved it: Tokyo - Kyoto - Takayama - Kanazawa - Korube Gorge - Hakone. We loved Kanazawa the most, but enjoyed things everywhere we went. Such lovely people, beautiful scenery and absolutely fantastic cuisine.

    Japan Guide was my first and is still my go to website for travel advice for visiting regions of Japan - now up to my fifth (and counting) trip to Japan over the past 2.5 years.
    I quite enjoyed these videos, however I find them enormously condensed - 7 day journey into three videos?
    It'd be great if there were individual videos for each particular day so that there's more time dedicated to each location's attractions besides the quick fleeting visit to one or two main attraction and the obligatory (paid/sponsored?) accommodation at the conclusion.
    Either way, just my opinion... keep up the great work with spotlighting the paths less traveled by foreign visitors!

      the same question was in my mind that there should each episode for each day. it would be more excited for the viewers if they ended up with the seven episodes.

    You do so much each day - isn’t it stressful? Do you have enough time at each attraction to enjoy it fully? I love this route but I can’t comprehend how you manage all the travel in addition to the attractions every day. The videos are beautifully filmed !! Also i‘m fascinated by how all your shots seem to be devoid of people- do you film at odd times? Thank you for sharing these beautiful shots! Also I would like to ask when you travelled (which time of year)?:)

    • @japanguide
      @japanguide  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on your travel pace and interest in each attraction. This video series was filmed in the same amount of time as shown in the videos, meaning without a video crew Sam would have had time to spare to complete the route. However, it's usually advisable to allow more time than you think you'll need to avoid unnecessary stress while travelling.
      Also, the video was filmed in early July.

    Hi Sam, NOt sure you are still around here... but I watched these 4 years ago and was going to travel March 2020... well that didn't happen. So, I am finally going next month and am debating, as only have 3 nights for route to get to Kyoto. I decided to skip monkey park although love them and go straight to Kurobe then one night in Takayama and one in Kanazawa before heading off to Kyoto. Its a bit of a rush I know. debating whether its worth while to to Takayama or stay in Toyama. Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks!

    I watched this series a couple of times now.. Plus stalking your posts on your website.. Thank you for your info.. My questions is.. Does the local train line covered by the Hokuriku Arch Pass? And how/where can I check the bus fares and the local train line fares (if not covered by the pass)? :D

      Some local train lines are not covered by the pass. You can find the details about which areas are covered by the pass here: www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_arch.html
      For local train line fares, we would recommend checking a website like Hyperdia!

      This was about the JOURNEY from Tokyo to Kyoto, so the focus was on the route and what interesting things you can see/do along the way. That's why they didn't tell you where to go in Tokyo or Kyoto, but presumably, you would do something in Tokyo before this and in Kyoto after.

      V Love-Williams well if you have more time to spend.. but the video used alö 7 days just for the journey... so would not recomend if for a 7 day japan trip if you maybe only have 1 chance to visit this country for a long time

    • @vlo4829
      @vlo4829 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course your suggested itinerary is the typical route, and those are all great places, BUT you can easily visit zero of those locations and still find enough interesting and impressive places that you won't feel like you're missing out.
