- Our latest guest is Chris Wairegi, an award-winning New York City-based Cinematographer, that boasts a diverse filming background encompassing Narrative, #documentary, #commercial and experimental projects for various platforms. Her expertise spans from short to long-form works, covering streaming, television, and the big screen. Chris has showcased her work at prestigious festivals including Tribeca and SXSW. Her impressive portfolio includes television shows like "Run the World," "Flatbush Misdemeanors," and "Survival of the Thickest," as well as projects such as "Black Girl Beauty" and "MTV Women in Rap."
As a Legacy Leader, Kodak Howard Bingham Scholar, and Four-Time Gold ADDY award winner, Chris is a proud member of IATSE Local 600, the International Collective of Female Cinematographers (ICFC), Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM), Documentary Cinematographers Alliance (DCA), and SPORAS. Notably, she received the inaugural Kodak Vanguard Award for her groundbreaking work on "600 Black Women." Chris actively contributes to the industry as a member of the ICG Scholarship Committee, a 2021 ICG Generation Next Change Maker, and a 2023 ASC Vision Scholar. Beyond her cinematic achievements, Chris is a dedicated feminist, activist, and educator.
