Notice bassoonist Nancy Goeres turning beet red playing the berceuse and then gasping for air halfway through at around 8:40. A very demanding part. A beautiful, flawless performance. What a trooper!
A piano roll exists on which Stravinsky has provided a detailed analysis of the tonal structure of this work. I think the analysis is reproduced in Richard Taruskin's book, and it is definitely worth studying.
Awesome and beautiful performances. The conductor is amazing. Orchestral musicians are electrifying in their playing. So happy I found this video. Thank you to Gerald Schwarz and the All Stars orchestra for sharing this. :-)
I’m kind of a Firebird fanatic having read the Stephen Walsh biography. This video is so nice because it provides this “blow by blow” analysis with the sections of the score. A real find. Thanks!!
Thank you so very much for these analysis videos on works of music. Please, keep doing more of these kind of videos on other classical pieces. Thank you again!
It’s because it’s tiresome to blow. Even my instrument, the easier to blow Bb Clarinet, is really tiresome after long phrases or even phrases of 5-10 seconds long is hard to keep well projected and loud
@@gcg8187 I have a flute now. Last summer, I had to return my regular clarinet because my dad had to pay a monthly fee on it even though I played bass clarinet in band. So now I have a clarinet, flute, and trumpet.

I love this gentleman, just when I think it's impossible to love even more the music, I hear these accurate interpretations on a complex opus :D

Such a great performance together with the analysis!
Excellent analysis!!! Thank you, master!

Magnificent presentation. Thank you!
Beautiful analysis, thank you for these.
Mindblowing piece of music
Éxito. Solemnidad. Gracias maestros, a los dos. A quien lo escribió, y a quien lo describe.
Lots of people from our great Philadelphia Orch!!
Now this is how one analyzes a music piece :> A big thumbs! up :>
excellent
Fantastic. Stravinsk
Thanks! This will help me with my studies!
Thank you!
Often conducted way too fast in the finale. You have it just right. Wonderful video, thanks Gerard.
Did you do see the bassoonist have a big sigh after her solo

That’s probably because I just started playing last year at the start of the school year
I’m now even playing bass clarinet now and it’s VERY heavy on the lungs
@@TGMGame you should have picked the flute bro

I’ve learned this piece from Little Einsteins and it was a dvd only episode
Shocks!! This piece was used in their last episode. The song at the end of the movie is heartbreaking. I'm not spoiling it.
@@anniefano7 I know! It makes me cry everytime!!!! The way it's used to score the story is amazing!!!!
@@TGMGame I subscribed to their channel: th-cam.com/users/LittleEinsteinsOfficial
Not so much an analysis as a description. But very elegant and high production values
agree
Wow Little Einsteins has really stretched its story from what it was thought of by Stravinsky
I guess a bassoon would be needed for a monster's lullaby 😅
Reminds me of William's contrabassoon lullaby for the monster "Fluffy" in Harry Potter.
Stravinsky
Remarkably, not one black person in this orchestra.
the timpani?
