    Just messing about with a home made chest harness. This is recorded with the Crocolis HD action cam, using its own in-built microphone. The sound recording capability on this camera is better than might be expected, so long as it's kept out of the wind. It was filmed @ 60fps, but quality has been degraded by its editing and its conversion from MVI to WMV.

    This is my all time fave youtube clip! For 9 glorious minutes I can ride an MV4. God, I wish I'd been brave enough to buy one when I had the cash and a very nice example was up for sale. This was 30 years ago and not a day goes by without me regretting it. Still, this video is the next best thing! Thanks Steve!

      I had one of these, bought new in 1973 (possibly even this one!) At that time they were several times the price of the most expensive BMW (an R90 IIRC). I rode it for three wonderful years - including taking her to the TT - before the importers Gus Kuhn said that they were going to give up the dealership so I panicked, thinking that spares would dry up, so I sold her. Bought for £1900 if memory serves and I sold her for £1300. What a mistake, even if it DID provide a deposit on my first house! I'd love to own her again....it's my life's dream.

      @@reddogchi A very nice example sold last year for £85,000! I don't think either one of us will be getting one anytime soon! Back in the day, they cost £2500! Mind you, I earned £8 a week in 1973! We can but dream.

    No kick-start, Syanr! These engines were based on the GP500 winning MVs of the 1960s, so they were generally push-started by the pit crew or started on rollers. The dynastarter was bolted to the engine's underside as a concession for road use. ☺

    Wow, great video. It REALLY does capture what it is like to ride an MV four.
    I have not ridden my disc brake Sport for about 10 years, but this video might be what gives me the kick in the arse I need to get back on the road.! Thanks!!

      Cheers, Gavin. Yes, better to ride them if possible. They seem to deteriorate more when they're not used. Mine is ridden most weekends through the summer; in fact it's even been out in winter snow!

    Cheers Rob. (It could be yours. Ha!)
    FZR's running well; I've had no problems whatever with it. It starts on the button, and pulls like a train. Its lightness works against it on the rough though, so although a worthy competitor to the RC30 on smooth sections (..and easier to throw around) it's not quite up there with it on bumpy roads. Great bike all the same, and lovely to ride! I'll be putting up some video in the coming months.
    Go easy on the ZXR!

    Glad t'hear all's well Steve. Had first ride on the zx6 at the weekend, although no doubting It's very quick and capable, it was just nowhere near as involving as the 400 was. Hey Ho. Can't have it all can you ;-) take it easy.

    The original video is actually quite good, it's the editing software which is causing the degradation of quality. (..and to record in 1080p would narrow the angle, but I'll give it a go at some stage). Cheers

    For me, the original is always the best. I wouldn't really want a modern-day copy. There is a guy in Canada who has built his own 'classic MV (Magni) replica', using his own frame and a (Cagiva) F4 engine to power it. There's a video of it on TH-cam - but you can read about its build on his blog: JBCycle/MVAgustaReplica

    • @stealthystevie
      @stealthystevie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi reddogchi. Unfortunately, you're a little too late in wanting to buy! After seven years' ownership I replaced the MV with the Magni featured in one one of my other videos, because I wanted something more practical to use when venturing farther afield (..on camping trips & yes, to the TT too). Moreover, the market value of the MV had massively overtaken the value 'agreed' by the Owners Club for insurance purposes, so I was risking the loss of many ££££ every time I rode it (..which was often!) But yes, the MV Owners Club (GB) could well know the whereabouts of your old bike. They are a small club in relative terms, and many of the remaining bikes are known to them. In fact the 'classic-type' 750s are often known to them by specific names! (..this bike was first registered in Germany in 1972, by the MV dealership, Hansen - but good luck in finding your old one!)

      Thank you so much my friend - I'll follow up on your good advice! I really appreciate your kind response.... Any idea of a ballpark figure for a 750S these days?

    • @stealthystevie
      @stealthystevie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reddogchi Ballpark cost would be £80,000 - £110,000 GBP - if you can find one. Most are sold through auction houses these days - such as Bonhams - and you'll have a lot of competition on bids. The early drum-braked 750s is very sought-after (..much more so than the later America). Some switch hands twixt members of the owners club, so it's worthwhile joining just to be 'in the know' if one becomes available. However, I sold mine privately via a web-ad. and was inundated with offers from all over the world. Here's a link to one of Bonhams' sales (2014). Friends of mine reporting back from this auction said this particular bike was 'rather rough': th-cam.com/video/VH-hpq8IPy0/w-d-xo.html

      I'm in your debt again Stevie! Thank you so much. If only I'd hung on to mine....I could weep! BTW, my 750S had drum brakes and a fairing, like yours. She was 'M' Reg and I fitted aerodynamic mirrors, indicators and Girling suspension units. I don't suppose I'll own another unless I win the lottery now (I'm trying every week!). Many thanks for the nostalgia trip...… :o)
