My teenage years were excellent thanks to Rock and Roll and Johnny and the Hurricanes, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bill Haley. Every Friday we had a dance "Junge Gemeinde" with the girls in Wien (Vienna will never forget that time) Didn't speak English, but the Music was the greatest. I am talking 1958_1965. Thanks so Much. Recht herzlichen Dank. Natuerlich gefiel mir Ted Herold (German Elvis) Heide Bruehl, Peter Kraus, Conny Froebass (don't know it the spelling is correct) Danke fuer die wunderbare Jugendzeit, mit amerikanischen Musik! Naturally we liked slow music too Neil Sedaka, Cliff Richards, Bobby Darin and on and on and on ....
You named a few good people there! I was born 1946 in Belgium, so I started listening to rock in 59-60. Time to learn guitar, imitate Hank Marvin from the Shadows, then the Beatles and the Stones and everybody else appeared, and I started a band. I live in the US now, I still listen to the heroes like Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran,... Plus a lot of blues now, I am in the right place! Besten Wünsche!
A nice job. I worked with them starting in 1960 and a year later we all quit Johnny to form our new group called "The Fascinators" .I played drums with all the original Hurricanes for about 4 years after that.
Agree. I posted it because I found it nostalgic with a little humor, and it's so much fun to revisit their whole career on a slightly different rhythm.
I seen them in person way back in 1962 I think. They played with a couple of other small rock an roll groups at the Buck Lake Ranch, just outside of Angola, Indiana. I don't remember much from their concert but they played some cool songs that they never recorded. I still have just about every 45 and album that they made, they were a great instrumental group along with the Royal Tones back then. You just don't hear either of their music on Oldies Radio anymore.
Thanks, Ed. Funny, I'm 73 and I never heard of the Royal Tones, although I was in Europe in the 60s, maybe that's why. I listened to some of their tunes, but they weren't really at the level of the Hurricanes, were they? Red River Rock is why I started playing guitar. All I heard in the beginning of it was that two-string guitar rhythm thing, I was dying to do the same thing!
@@jean-mariejohnjost6672 Try listening to the Royal Tones play, Flamingo Express, along with that wailing sax through it, and Poor Boy, is another great with the sax. Johnny Paris almost could have sat in on some of the Royal Tones music. Thanks for this great and rare song post.
Hi Lynn - Been a Johnny & the Hurricanes since Red River Rock. I understand they performed on AMerican Bandstand in 1960. Do any videos of that gig exist. I'm dying to see the original lineup performing. Thank you and thanks for your contribution to a great band. Be well.
I have looked for those videos and found out that they are part of Dick Clark's estate, they were a great group and I found some stereo versions of some of their early hits, Buckeye, Minnesota Fats, Come On Train, couldn't find Happy Time
Bedankt, maar ik heb dit alleen gepubliceerd. Johnny and the Hurricanes hebben deze retrospectieve opgenomen, een geweldig idee. Je hoort dat het ritme anders is dan de originele songs.
Was this ever released as a 45rpm or was it on an album, if so which album? also what year was this track put out? I have never heard it played here in the U.K. Thanks for any help or info - T.C.
T.C., it's a shame, but I can't remember where I got it from, or where that cover came from, I can't find them now. It may have been a single released in Germany, but I know nothing about it. I get a lot of music from a Russian or Ukrainian site called myzuka.club, it seems that you could download the whole universe from there. Cheers!
Well done for the music and your group is a great idea to hear from you Richard McGeechan ❤
This is no joke and I think it's a great remix of the tune in my life and the drums are the best Richard McGeechan ❤
What a lovely performance I guess I think it's a great remix of the tune of this one for me and you Richard McGeechan ❤

who,www sooo wearly greatessss cool
my grandpa was in this band
Not kidding? Who was your grandpa?
Jean-Marie Jost Edward Waganfeald
So what did he play and when did he play with them, if you know?
From Discogs: "(Johnny) Paris claimed that over 300 musicians played in the band in its fifty-year existence."
Eddie Wagenfeald was a Hurricane around early 1963. He plays on Greens and Beans, which he also wrote.
zij zijn het echt uit mijn schooltijd heel superrrrr
Meneer Jost ...mijn complimenten...leuke montage van steengoede muziek

No. Just No. Sounds like the type of dross jive bunny would dish out.
Jive bunny, wtf is that? You don't like, fine, don't tell me, go listen to something else.
