    What a great reminder for me... That I need to pull this camera back out the closet. Such a good camera, still holds up and looks great ! Nice job on this piece, you crushed it.

      Thanks! I do love this camera. Generally I rig it out a bit but on this one while we were out and about it was literally just the camera and lens. Well that and a few extra batteries at the ready!

    Brandon thanks for sharing your creativity with us, this is an absolutely amazing film, very mysterious. Started feeling the tension rise as he was going up on the escalator in WTC. I see you were shooting around 50th street on the Westside, nice composition, camera angles, great colors, great location. This is truly inspiring for me, I love it and have learnt from you just watching this film. Congratulations to you and your entire team for doing such awesome work.

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonyHadleyJr Appreciate that. The grade thankfully wasn't too difficult. I think this was the Utopia LUT from Phantom LUTs. I did some tweaking here and there, mostly for the skin tones, and then added a touch of film grain.

    I'm confused. I'm assuming those are the same pair of gloves, but I don't understand why they were left there or why they were picked up in the hotel. Also in the second shot he also picks up what Im guessing is a coaster. Is he like a waiter or something? The filming is beautiful by the way!

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The gloves are a play on the “dead drop” trope common in spy movies. The coaster has a note/instructions of what he has to do. We filmed a couple frames with different notes on it but decided to leave it mysterious.

    Looks good! I think the filters make a heck of a difference. I have to get some. This looks like it's shot on a much more expensive camera. Great job!

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I’ve been very pleased with the filters so far. The Freewell filters are fantastic as they have IR cut in addition to ND. That and the hard stops are are a lifesaver for avoiding vignetting from cranking it too far.
      The BMP has also been great at removing that digital edge. Personally I don’t know if I’d go stronger than 1/8th but that’s just my taste.

    • @Tobirama_isHimju
      @Tobirama_isHimju 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandonrude You gained a sub for sure. I am going to buy some for my 16mm as well because this cheap Gobe filter kills my images.

      @@brandonrude Hey man, your short looks amazing! Just wanted to bounce off this info to ask : did you get the VND from Freewell or the hardstops? Thanks!

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AC-gk7jl Thanks! The filters are the VND ones. By "hard stops" here I mean that they don't let you turn them in a full circle. So for the 2-5 stop filter, you can't rotate it past the 2-stop mark or past the 5-stop mark. This way it prevents you from rotating it too far and getting that X pattern, which I often did with my Tiffen VND.

    Can you tell me what format you filmed in? What are the camera settings?

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always shoot in BRAW in the Film profile and this project was filmed at 8:1 compression. Most clips were at 24fps but the slow motion ones were at 60fps. Most shots were at T2.8 but I think I went up to T4 or T5.6 for the shot of the building and the wide shot of the streets from the balcony.

    • @drunkstreet_official
      @drunkstreet_official 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brandonrude Thanks, I meant what parameters did you set on the camera: 4K DCI or 4K 2.4:1? And I still can't understand why I can't achieve the same color as in your video? Where and how did you colorize the video? Thanks

    • @brandonrude
      @brandonrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@drunkstreet_official Ah, got it. It was all shot at 4K DCI and then for the color I used the Eterna LUT from Phantom LUTS as the base for my color grade. Then I adjusted things as needed in post using Davinci Resolve to get the colors where I wanted. We wanted this to have a colder mood/feeling overall so I added a slight blue cast to the clips and reduced the saturation a bit.
      I also load the LUT into the camera, that way when I'm filming I can get a good idea of how the final image will look and I can adjust the exposure to ensure I'm getting what I want.

      @drunkstreet_official 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brandonrude Oh, thank you very much) Could you share the LUT with me, I will be very grateful to you! And another question, what sequence of color correction did you have in DaVinci?
