Man, coming back to your videos, from other YT videos on the same subject, you just have a natural ability/work ethic/passion to be able to explain things so clearly. Very much appreciated.

Wow! Thanks for the tip. Got my xt-3 for a month and trying to shoot as much as i can. This tip really helps my shooting. Thanks for making very helpful videos.
You are incredible!! I have a bit of Deuteranopia (green-red deficiency) and it been an issue sometimes when color-grading for my projects. I recently got the passport color checker and I couldn't understand how to get it to work. So thank you SO MUCH! You have no idea how much this helps me! Gained a new subscriber!!
This is new to me! Didn’t know the custom white balance option worked this way! I am guilty of using auto white balance most of the time. Will start using this going forward.
This video wasn't usefull, is just pure GOLD!😄😄 I remember i ve seen this white paper tip before....but i realize how dumb i am not using it for calibration! Thanks a LOT Chris! keep up doing the best Fujifilm content here!😁
The Whi-bal card is set for digital colour balance It is grey and when in raw you can click the eyedropper on the card in the first shot of na series and it gives great balance. Google Whi-bal sold out of Florida

'Well, I never knew that!' Is a phrase that I seem to use a lot when watching your videos! :) ...The one that got me this time was the info about using auto white balance while shooting video and how it shifts. Another thing learned. Cheers.
Chris you are the best person to ask this and hope it can help your community here as well . I use an X-t4 to shoot professional video hair tutorial and I set custom white balance exactly as you have shown , it works perfectly ( I shoot models using a white background ) However I don't get definition on the hair , they look dark overall. I use a Sony a7 iii as a close up camera also and the hair looks a lot clearer and lighter. I am sure there must be something on the setting that I can do ? I feel there is only so much I can lift the lighting and contrast on post production to show more definition on the hair . Thanks for your videos !
He attracts more specific audience to specific problems which is different to most channels. For his size he offers incredible diversity of content, great insight, and sky high production values. The iguana ... can’t find that anywhere else.
Helpful video. Thanks!. Do you know how to see, in camera, what K setting is actually being used when a custom white balance is set in the Fujifilm camera?
I have a years of experience with paper. You can go to a major paper store and buy basic copy paper of a few different brands and they all have slight color difference! 🤷🏻♂️ Some slightly bluish tint, so more yellowish. You can get various 80 lb cover samples with desired slight bluish tint for example and use it as a slightly warmer WB.
Hello I’m late for the party 🎉 Just found this now and thanks for posting. How do you do custom wb if outdoors , for example shooting a football game (soccer )
Useful info capably presented! Tip: When using a white sheet of paper try to get paper having the highest Brightness value (max is 100) you can find. The number will be printed on the paper packaging. HP has one type of that brightness. BTW, wasn’t Kelvin Kline the guy who started the underwear company?😁. Clever name for the puppet.
Another awesome video which hold to the standards we all love! Fun, education and nice picture all included! Thank you! Now I'm looking forward for pricey review of F1.0 from you! ;)
Great video Chris, but should we custom white balance off of a white surface or a gray card? What would be the difference? Or does it even matter? Many Thanks!!
I'd go with white card since that's what Fuji is recommending for the camera. For RAW in PS, C1 or LR, you can use a neutral point -- white or gray, I almost always use gray.
Hello there Great informational video, thanks! But in general when shooting nature, wouldnt you want the white balance to accurately reflect the reality? So when doing the custom white balance, white will look actually white even though the lighting/sun might look much different? Just trying to understand the concept - I get that for photo shoots you usually want correct white balance
You always come up with something that we ignore or meh . I will from now on carry a white paper or card with me when I will be in mountain. Thank you so much for all your tips and tricks By the way Fujifilm has another model called X-T30 which shares the same sensor of X-T3 and 4. So when you do reference models, please mention that as well if you can.
Good suggestion!! Thank you! Yeah, the channel started with XT3 but really I do need to factor in the other cameras. I wish I had the XT30 which would make a bit easier to see the menus, but I'll definitely keep this in mind for future videos!
Great video. You said something so mind-blowing to me. You said, "never use AWB in video." I do this all the time and never realized why my scenes looked so different. Can you explain this a bit more in depth, please?
Probably mostly Q&A about the channel, some basic camera topics, and more a fun time since very tough to teach live stream format. If you go too fast, you lose some of the people, if you go too slow, you bore others. More of a way to connect with the audience around an electronic campfire.
Hi Chris, any chance we get a Fast Friday that covers filters? Just a general overview and your thoughts on when/when not to use and any recommendations. Thanks from London, UK
Kelvin is not measured in degrees. You could have used the Colour checker passport with the notch, that's the white balance patch but as you say it is much better to do the WB in camera than in post processing.
I choose shutter, iso ,aperture manually AAANDD white balance. Why ppls getting lazy while choose 3 specs manual and trying to trust camera for important thing. Sometimes colors can crush while color balancing on video if you shoot in auto mode

Hello pal2tech! I’m having trouble regarding saving my white balance in the custom setting for the film simulation. Whenever I switch to the next custom film sim it will carry the white balance SHIFT that was set on the first one I have tried on. Tried resetting the custom settings but no luck. I using an XT3 btw
thanks, very good tuto. just a pending issue in video, what is the best tool for white balancing processes, the color checker you are showing here or a basing white balance tool, for instance, DaVinci Resolve is supporting color checkers facilities
Great tutorial! Learning so much from your videos since I got xt3 last week. How would you set white balance if you are shooting long distance indoor? Hide white paper near the subject somewhere and shoot raw? Thank you!
Hi Chris, I note that you had a Xrite passport in the video. I have just bought one. Mine has a White Balance Card but its area is quite small. If you try fill the XT3's frame with the white card using say a 56mm lens it is out of focus. I can't see how I can both fill the frame with the card and be in focus. I can't see anything specifically mentioned in either the XT3 manual or on the Xrite website on this matter. Any thoughts? Cheers Alan.
With both my Nikon Z7 and Z50 I have used the color checker utility to make a white balance reference when I open raw images in Lightroom and Photoshop. Both programs immediately recognize which camera is which and I and give me the option override the Photoshop and Lightroom standard settings using my calibrated white balance. Should I set up the same calibration for my Fuji xt30? After watching your take on using Photoshop and Lightroom as opposed to Capture One I'm not too sure if it is needed or even if it will work.
Only when the light conditions change dramatically, as you can see at the end of the Vide - when Chris walks around the studio, under 3 different light sources. If you want the same look with the 3 different light sources, you need to reset the WB every time.
Hey Chris, doesn't the Passport Color Checker need to be included in a photograph and run through software to adjust the raw file color to the camera/lens combination? (just guessing a bit on how that works) but seems great for studio work and hell for street shooting...
