dude holy shit I applied this tip during a my sesh tonight and I'm fucking flipping it so easy! I actually almost teared up how much time I struggled with trying to understand the flick all I fucking needed to do was open up my hip a bit and it feels like it just flicks on its own. You're a fucking legend and hero dude
Bro today i landed 3 in a row! Ive landed a few rocketed but the hip and knee thing for real just made it comfortable landed 3 that was pretty leveled out!!!!
i owe this man my life he actually taught me how to do a kickflip I haven't been able to land a kickflip in 5 years since I started I've never learned how to do a kickflip thank you so muchsubscribing rn I'm so happy man thank you you don't understand how happy I am I feel so accomplished thanks to this man thank you again I'm not even sure if you'll see my comment but just know your the reason i landed my first kickflip
This is awesome. Love the 3-D graphics. And I’m proud to say that I landed 2 kickflips yesterday at 50. And now it’s all I’m gonna do. I put a rock mark at the top left of my board and it made it something to aim my foot at and right after I scraped the mark I landed the first one! Super stoked
i always tell beginners to think that they are kickflipping with their knee, not their feet and that somehow usually works, (leading with your knee forward of your nose)
I've landed 4 kickflips and I am struggling progressing. I'm actually regressing lately. I'm guilty of applying wayyy too much force on both the pop and the flick as you stated in your other kickflip video and thanks to you I truly believe I can master them now! 💙
THANK YOU! This one really helped me get kickflips more consistently, now I'm doing them up a small euro gap and landing on the bolt! You are always putting out great and helpful content. Love the channel!
These videos have awesome explanations, I'm looking forward to working on my knee because it's always my front foot too quickly on the ground. I really wanna land my kickflips. Thank you for this.
Also id just like to add your channel is probably my top favorite these 2 weeks i wish i had came across your channel sooner. Im also reccomending local skatepark goers to your channel. I wish you the best
2:30 You also need to add the force the nose of the skate is making when rising, so the force you have to employ is for example 502g (from the foot for the rotation) plus the Relative Force that the board is projecting while going up.
Thank you for this. Kickflips are frustrating. I just want to have control and consistency and it’s so difficult. I’m gonna try opening up the knee and see if that helps. Thanks again
Ran into your website and it's really good! I enjoyed reading about local and global rotations. Keep motivating others man, that's the most important. Take care fren! (ps how to kf further? or on a ramp? it's so much easier on flatground lol)
@@Lxwlife Ty vm for the awenser! As a brazilian skater and I'm a bit older than Luan I can virtually guarantee this is a stile choice, we brazilians consider stile as: speed + high pop + catch the trick before land. Luan is a god at those 3 stuff. And he intentionally make it looks like a dragonflying kick!
want to know some really interesting physics? so the board is balanced, but also with areas of higher mass. when you press down on tail or nose it adds and uneven amount of inertia into the board. the lifted truck has more rotational momentum based inertia, which actually make it physically "heavier" than the other truck. the "lighter" truck then being able to leveraged up using the axis point of the highest mass. which isn't actually in the center and why good flips and ollies are caught with the back foot pointing down. front foot determines lowest height, but back end should be higher and press to the foot there can be a drag, but the flip comes from flipping through the pocket, which curves over your foot at a certain angle, an to the side of the highest mass of the high mass area i.e. the baseplate. if you flip it before the truck it rockets, on or just past will go kind of even, and extended out will actually get leverage on the axis point and rise to your back foot forcefully. if you do it right, you preserve or redirect some of the rotation based inertia up while still leveraging the flip off the side of the highest mass of the reference frame. hardest part is learning to pick you feet up again. if entropy takes over or you bleed too much inertia, them tricks either don't work or are messed up. it's the basis for tricks like nollie front foot flips i.e. initial leverage to inertia juggle leverage to inertia juggle flip...
So great. Thank you! One idea i had the other day: i would love to see your analysis of truck geometry and how that impacts skating. People only seem to talk about the wheelbase difference of thunder vs Ace, etc, but are the kingpins or pivots at different degrees of angle? If so, how does that affect turning?
youre the only other person besides me ive seen that sends their wrist-hand inverted toward the sky when rising on the kickflip, why do we do this?is there a benefit
You have your chest facing your front foot when you kick flip. Looks great but I’m thinking what’s the reason to your technique? If I do any flat ground trick witj my chest is facing my front leg it rotates my body and I won’t land
So I have a good Ollie right, but the second I try a kickflip I either pop the board straight up. pop it behind me, or send the board flying in front of me all of them not flipping at all. Can someone tell me how to fix this
Lately I’ve been wondering why no one talks about the crouch in kickflip. It seems like it should be important yet I’m not sure if I know what is best practice. I see some pros squeezing their knees together when they crouch and others skew the knees in odd ways.
Thanks for the comment. Knee angles when crouched largely depneds on the stiffness of their ankles. Kindly refer to this if interested. th-cam.com/video/mVOP2_K8VDo/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the comment. Please let me ask you something. I could always talk about manual tricks but I also don't want to end up saying "Just practice." What challenge/s are you facing? Perhaps I could help you.
I think I'm going to give up on skateboarding... I'm trying to do a straight kickflip, but it always turns into a kind of backside flip (Angled). I've watched all your videos about the kickflip, but I can't understand why my kickflips are turning into backside flips. When I try, it doesn't seem like before when I used to land them; sometimes it does a Hospital Flip but it's probably because of my tired foot. I don't know what else to do.
looks like your back foot toe is hanging off possibly adding to a more pressure flip-ish scoop. You might find a little more snap on the tail if you don't hang off your toe too much. You can counter balance that change by hanging your weight over your back knee more when you load so that you're not falling backward. Not a pro like you, just something I've been messing with recently.
What I don’t understand is how my shoulders and hips are square to the board and it turns, yet your shoulders are completely open, almost perpendicular to the board yet it still flops straight

Was this the first video that you’d watched on kickflips?
that flip in the intro with hands in pocket is the type of skating I aspire to do.

this is a great analogy
Damn I’m gonna try this tomorrow
Im gonna try this today. Tho my previous attempts it did feel like the knee is the one in control most often. Even in ollies I feel the same way
ankle does a lot of the work, don't sleep on ankle
@@KDaneWillard😂😂 bro tryna make it easier and here you are talking about ankles

these videos are so high quality its crazy. i dont even skate but they make me kinda want to. really great great job on this channel
This is the best trick tutorial channel ever, thank you.
Thank you! After years of failed attempts I can now kickflip 9/10 tries. ❤❤❤
Man your series really helped me so much, ty❤
this video was by far the biggest asset to being able to land my first kickflip. tysm!
amazing video. kickflips are so elusice to me. thumbs up for reach. keep going please, one of skateboardings most valuable creators! (seriously)

Two of the best instructors right there!
That is one of the best tutorial chanels ever. great descriptions w/ AI Technology. Will there be also come tutorials about rail and curb skating?
Skills mate. Nice.
Sick board dude! 👍
daaamn man this one so deep as usual!
Can you do an analysis on how to Nollie? +10 years in skating, still can't do them unless I'm going very slow...
he's so smart🤩

Just the wakeup call I needed

Im always so back and forth with my flips. Ive got kickflips one day and heels the next.
can you make a tutorial on how to kickflip or doing trick in general higher?
I would luv to see an analisis of Luan Oliveira's legendary kickflips from u. Despite of this idea, ty again for sharing your wisdom!

please do heelflip next! thank you for this vid
Working on it!
@@whythetrick you're awesome! thanks so much
I'm gonna try that opening knee/hip thing, I was only opening my shoulders/upper body.
This trick tip is the best kickflip tip on youtube. Watched many videos they never mention this.
Do you open your knee the same way with a heelflip or how does it work?
working on it. please wait.
youre the only other person besides me ive seen that sends their wrist-hand inverted toward the sky when rising on the kickflip, why do we do this?is there a benefit
this series is helping me a lot, ehn why the trick heelflip?
heelflip is instead a kickflip on the other side of the board, dont think of using your heel to flip it, but the "back" of your pinky toe
Lead with that knee. Delay that flick slightly
You have your chest facing your front foot when you kick flip. Looks great but I’m thinking what’s the reason to your technique? If I do any flat ground trick witj my chest is facing my front leg it rotates my body and I won’t land
I used to struggle with kickflips for quite long. One day I found I could kickflip so much easier by having my body facing forward.
So I have a good Ollie right, but the second I try a kickflip I either pop the board straight up. pop it behind me, or send the board flying in front of me all of them not flipping at all. Can someone tell me how to fix this
It should be renamed into flick flip
perhaps you are right.
