The beat in this one just has simple, fantastic sequencing, as well as great use of pitch in the kick. That's what I really respect Bassnectar for, the way he's able to set up a common-sounding beat (i.e. the 808) but make it fluctuate enough so that you don't get bored. Takes a really good ear to make that happen.

A lot of it is about drugs, sex, and alcohol, but so is a lot of country, 80's/90's rock, heavy metal etc. The only difference is that rap doesn't try to hide it under the pretense that it's all fun and games. Rap says, you hear them blue lights you run like hell.
