If you want to know how obsessed I am with this show. I watch the new episode every morning when I wake up at 5:am New York time before going to work. Waiting an entire week for a new one is pure torture.😂 This episode did not have enough of Carla and Hanna on-screen.

A ridiculously convoluted and atypical example of Soap Opera.
Points of interest though are found in the minor characters like Isabel and Young Felix, these two are two of the least complicated characters in this series and played by two actors who give what little they get their all. So I admire that effort from them. Isabel in particular is an underappreciated character in this series as as I said in a previous comment elsewhere she acts as an important anchor to the real everyday world, best friend to Hanna, and the two working to keep the more fantastical world of Carla's family and their vast fairytale manor house at a distance. Out of all of the subsequent girlfriends, wearying forced pathos, and overdone angst to come in the years ahead, Carla von Lahnstein is never more grounded, likable, or lovable, than she is here, with Hanna...
Interestingly, when you have finished watching it, you may spot there is a theme being played out to us in this chapters events. The theme being people moving on in life and taking important decisions - taking responsibility for their futures. One person, Carla, is doing so in a very believable and natural process that we can recognise and relate to as we nearly all face the same decisions at one time in life. The other person on display here though is slowly showing us that he simply is not capable of embracing such a journey to maturity. He's presumably into his thirties now and yet Lars Schneider has not grown up. _Cannot_ grow up.
For a supposedly very highly educated and professionally minded man it is being made more and more clear that Lars Scheider is someone with very serious deep flaws in his character, one might call it almost a pathological disorder, but from his attitudes to Hanna previous to this, and what will come later, this attitude manifests as being someone who is self entitled, and childishly vindictive to whoever rejects him in any way. Demonstrating a deep sense of Possessiveness to Women who cross paths with him, he lives his life with an emotional immaturity that runs contrary to the high levels of self-discipline and conduct that the role of a Lawyer or university teacher requires. He has already jeopordised his career as a Lawyer, and it says a great deal about his strength of character that he now almost immediately puts his new career as a teacher at immediate risk too with accepting such close contact and flirtations with a much younger student. Showing all watching that either the man is an absolute idiot, or more to the point, that his character flaws run so deep that he believes he is not only above cause and effect, but also above the moral concepts of what society agrees as being Right and Wrong - he is a man who believes that he is a Law unto himself clearly.
It is to her great credit by contrast that at least Hanna manages his cruel childish taunting with just the right level of maturity and politeness, she does not rise to his baiting here and retains great dignity as a result, her ex-manchild has his own life to lead and has freely and proudly made his own decisions now, and so he will just have to take responsibility for what those decisions will entail next.... (If only. If Only he did. If Only he was _capable_ of doing just that... oh, if only...)
But my praise here goes out to the quieter scenes between Isabel and Hanna, and with Carla coming to a mature decision and acceptance that she has to overcome her fears and start changing, start growing up, for her own sake and the one she now loves. I love that sort of writing for these two, it shows thought and care has gone into these characters and that whoever is writing this is taking the time and effort to develop them in a natural and believable way. It's terrific to watch their relationship unfold. Full credit to all involved.

Carla was being so unreasonable like its Hanna's friend so Hanna's choice to tell her or not, its only up to Carla regarding her friends and family. Thankfully she has come around.

I'm afraid I have to ask the question, as it's been puzzling me, So.... Is What Hanna wears Here Common 'Fashion'?
I admit to not knowing what fashion _is_ in Germany exactly, but judging from what everyone else wears here I have to believe that what Hanna wears here, and in other chapters, is indeed quite unusual. She wears some quite odd stuff, as seen in the chapter above, that looks like something a student might wear, but she isn't any Student, so... is there a reason for her strange dress sense that I'm missing here?
    I'm curious.

Keep in mind that these clips are from 2002/2003. So they do not reflect today's fashion in Germany. Having said that, I personally always felt like the wardrobe department was gunning for a 70s/80s look for Hanna. But that's just my personal opinion.

@@lezsoapia - some of her clothes are not interesting maybe but in general they have muuuuch better taste and quality than modern-junk fashion.... :P
